I think it has to do with the Wings having a clear identity as a puck-possession team. Hakan Andersson knew what kind of players to look for. While other teams scouts only looked at the guys putting up the most points, or the biggest guys with some talent, Andersson was looking for the players who could control the puck and could fit in with the Wings system.¨ Of course there is some luck involved as well, especially in the case of Datsyuk, but that is one of the key's I believe.

Bettman is looking into maybe allowing the Penguins to use that method of goaltending though.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it during the game. That's like something out of one of the Mighty Ducks movies, where one of the guys gets slashed across his wrist after scoring. Hopefully he gets fined but I'm not too sure it will happen.

Zetterberg was obviously great. What can you say about him that hasn't already been said? He's a pretty cool guy. But I think Datsyuk deserves a lot of credit too. He has basically had a better playoffs than last year ALREADY. 8 points in 7 games, 5 goals, and as always unbelievable defense. He looks like he's working his ass off out there and he's all over the place stealing pucks and making plays. Filppula as others said also has to be mentioned. The chemistry him and Z are developing is really something to see.

There's a 50/50 chance they're already Wings fans.

This will be such a good series.

Wings couldn't possibly have played a better Game 7. Most complete game they've played in this series, maybe all season. Datsyuk was a beast, Zetterberg was fantastic, Lidstrom was huge, Filppula looked like a superstar, everyone else was great too. So happy right now. I look forward to the Sharks-Wings series so much. Should be a very memorable series.

I loooooove this team. But it's a love/hate relationship for sure! Why can't they play like this a bit more often, eh? 10 minutes left, no collapse now and we get to see a sick series against the Sharks.

Awesome that we got the 1st goal. If Detroit keeps pushing and attacking things look good. edit: well a PK now. We gotta stay out of the box, the PP is really the only time Phoenix is dangerous.

Not sure what to say so far. Wings don't look great but Phoenix don't either. 1st goal feels important, more than usual.

Honestly the only team left in the East that I can really see beat Pittsburgh is Boston. They have the defense and goaltending to make it happen. Washington? They're just proving what most people knew already, they were feeding off their weak-ass division all year and are not built for playoff hockey. Philly? I think they only matchup great against New Jersey, against any other team they're still a mediocre team. Boucher had a good 1st round but can he keep it up against Crosby and Malkin? Doubt it. Montreal? Give me a break. It'd be a miracle if they win against the Caps and Halak couldn't possibly put on enough performances like last night to give them to have a chance to make it far.

Gonna have to drink buckets of Red Bull to stay awake! Wings better make it worth my while! LGW!

Not gonna jump off a bridge if they lose, but a win would be pretty sweet. I really want to see a Sharks-Wings series. I think the game will be decided early. If the Wings can score on Bryz so he doesn't get "in the zone", and Howard gets to make some early stops to boost his confidence I believe the Wings will win. Prediction: 3-1 Wings. Franzen, Zetterberg (EN), Lidstrom.

I really doubt anyone would "crush" Phoenix, least of all San Jose. I know we all would like to think that the Red Wings can win every game 10-0 if they just play their best and everytime they lose it's because they're Lazy And Suck but you know what, sometimes the other team has something to do with it as well. Phoenix is a very good team and will make some noise if they advance from this round.

You do realize Hossa has less points than Franzen in these playoffs? And that Franzen missed 4 months of the season with a torn ACL and that kind of injury can take a while to fully recover from?
