Zetterberg apparently went straight into surgery. So that is a minimum of 6-8 weeks recovery. edit: source: http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/os2014/article18415758.ab Z texted Kronwall before the semifinal.

Some interesting anecdotes but he was also pretty vague on other things which make me question how much inside information he actually has. Working in Food & Beverages, how close do you really get to the team? If all that about Hudler is true though it does explain Babcock's reluctance to give him icetime. It also sounds a bit too extreme to be true, missing practice because you're drunk isn't something NHL teams just let slide.

Interesting game between the 3rd and 4th best teams in the tournament. I think Canada will be the ones losing in the final and the US will have to settle for 4th place.

I'll gladly celebrate a swedish gold won against Latvia in the finals. -

I would easily be happier about a Latvian upset than a Swedish gold. Would be so hilarious. Not going to happen though. I predict a minimum of 4 Canadian goals in the 3rd period. -
Call ups.. Sheahan, Emmerton, Pulkkinen and Almquist

Sounds reasonable. With 10 guys away and Franzen injured they'd be pretty short-staffed. -

I think Zetterberg is returning on a plane that leaves thursday, wonder if Pavel will be on it too. -

Had a feeling the Finns would win. I feel REALLY bad for Pavel. He tried so hard to carry that team, but anytime he wasn't on the ice Russia looked kinda terrible. Terrible coaching and Ovechkin, Malkin and Semin should be ashamed of their efforts. Ovie especially. Feel pretty good about Sweden's chances to reach the finals now though. Usually good games against the Finns, but their team doesn't scare me as much as many of their past teams have. Sweden won't play as individualistic as Russia did so it will be harder for Finland to defend as easily. And Sweden's defense and goaltending should be able to do a better job of not giving Finland easy goals. -

Cool, you found a gif of the only thing Crosby has done in Olympic hockey. Damn he's been bad/invisible this tournament. As for the semis, I think the Czechs could cause some trouble for the US. The game against Russia told me the US are probably a bit overrated. -

Injured Datsyuk still manages to easily be the best player on Team Russia. That team is in trouble against the Finns if more guys don't show up. I hope for Pav's sake they do, you can tell he is trying to put that team on his back on one good leg. That is correct. -

Hossa is really mailing it in. Tatar's been Slovakia's best forward in this tournament. -
There's no room, and there is certainly no elephant in it.

Datsyuk's pretty easily been the best player on eiter team in this game. No way he's only 50%. Great game, I wish it was an elimination game with full OT. -

Slovakia played a terrible game, Tatar and Jurco included, and lost 3-1 to a solid Slovenian team with a Kopitar in beast mode. Jurco got the lone Slovakian goal with only seconds left of the game, meaning that after 2 games the only slovak players to have scored are Tatar and Jurco. They are not enough to make this team a threat though, and I expect them to be eliminated in the qualification round. Slovenia on the other hand could be the surprise team of the tournament and I wouldn't want to face them in a quarterfinals. -
At this point I think it's almost 100% certain that Z will be on LTIR when the NHL picks up again.
-
We could have both Z and Mule on LTIR after the break, I don't see why Jurco and Sheahan wouldn't stay in that awful, awful scenario.
-
Stephen Weiss will make or break this team's playoff chances. We're going to be without Z a while, hopefully Pav can play but Weiss has to be good.
-
Z himself is saying he could opt for surgery instead of the same treatment he had in December. And then his season is of course in danger.source: http://www.expressen.se/sport/os/zetterberg-det-gar-inte-att-halla-pa-sa-har/
-
Yeah it's the same as in December but worse, and he doesn't want to carry on like he has the last month. So if surgery is the only way to make it right he'll do it. And that could leave him out 2 months.
-
Appears it might a little worse than day-to-day. Z was just ruled out of the rest of the tournament and isn't even able to fly back to Detroit due to his back pain. Get well Z.
-
Yeah I also wish Z was a terrible captain with a complete lack of heart who is willing to let down his country, family and friends because he wants some extra rest. He'll be fine. Did people freak out in 2002 too?
-
Listening to the interview with Team Sweden's doctor, I'm less worried. Sounds like it's the same thing he's been dealing with every now and then the last couple of weeks. Not good of course, but doesn't seem like anything that's likely to keep him out for very long, if he even misses the game tomorrow. It sucks that both Z and Pav are playing through these injuries but what can you do. I for one would think it's worse if they miss maybe their final chance at Olympic gold.

Sounds like it's the same thing he's been going through for the past couple of weeks. Skipping practices, getting treatments, hoping to be able to play the game. Good thing is he could easily sit out against Switzerland and/or Latvia without hurting the team too much. But if he can't play in the elimination round our chances at a medal are reduced by like 90%. -

Looks like Tatar is the only Slovak player that can keep his head high after that. +1 and scored their only goal. Ugh.. if he's gone, that's pretty much it for Sweden.
