Whoop-de-do! Luongo is a great regular season and meaningless games goalie. He has yet to show me he can step up when the pressure is on. I hope for Canada's sake that this is when he finally proves me and other doubters wrong and plays on top when it matters the most.

Last playoffs he was. Crosby had more points but that was mostly against teams like Carolina that folded like cheap hookers getting punched in the stomach by a fat guy. Anyway it's unfair to dream that a guy drafted #200-something should be in the same class as a no.1 draft pick that was hyped since before he was born out of Gary Bettman's feces. Hank does some things better than Crosby, and most of all he's a 1000x more likeable and respectable guy. He doesn't put up the same points, but he doesn't have the same salary either. We are lucky to have him because usually to get players comparable to him you have to suck something awful and get a top 10 (if not top 5) draft pick.

I hope Canadians don't think LoLuongo will lead them to gold. Canada has some of the worst goaltending in the tournament. Slovakia, Czech Rep, Russia, Sweden, Finland, US, Switzerland and maybe Germany have better goalies than Canada.

He is not the fastest or most skilled guy, but he is COOL and RESPECTED and works harder than anyone else. He brings it when it matters the most and people look up to him. Hank is the best, and don't you dare compare him to the C-word.

According to the standings, Finland is better than Canada, but you're right Germany isn't very good. Truth is the US haven't faced any really good teams yet. And since they get an easy Quarter they'll only run into some trouble in the semi against Finland/Czech.

Zetterberg has mentioned how it's nice to get away for a while, think about something other than the playoff struggle every day. I think that might be true for most Wings players, and when they come back they'll have new energy. Whether or not it will be enough to get us into the playoffs is another question. Like others have said, the first week or two after the break could pretty much decide our fate. A couple of losses out of the gate and we're done.

I think Finland will beat the Czech but lose against the US. Sweden and Finland always have a hard time against Canada/US, especially on small rinks in North America.

I'm kind of upset that Canada couldn't atleast push OT. I'm a little afraid of Slovakia (I picked them as the upset team of the tournament) and it would have been so sweet to have Switzerland in the quarters.

I agree, it's a shame they have to face off in the quarters. But there is no one to blame but Canada themselves, if they had played better they wouldn't be in that situation. Plus, one of those teams going out early means bigger chances for Sweden or Finland to make the medals again
