2010 Winter Olympics - Russia vs Czech Republic (Group B)
dat's sick replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Datsyuk is so far beyond everyone else on Russia defensively. Jagr was toying with the Russian defense and Datsyuk stepped in with a nice hit and took the puck away from him. -

Yeah that's idiotic.. at the very least he needs to put together some real PP-formations. We're gonna get owned by Finland.

I agree with this. But I think these lines COULD work. Malkin hasn't been great but maybe he will step up when he gets what he wants: to play with Ovie. That top line has no defense in them but if they spend any time in the defensive zone the line has failed anyway. I've never been a huge fan of Kovalchuk but I feel like he has become a little bit more of a team-player in the last year. I think he might give Pavel more to work with. But I also agree with titanium, they should try Radulov on the top line. Semin can play with Kozlov and Feds who he knows from before.

I'm totally gonna make that happen in NHL10.

2010 Winter Olympics - Saturday Games (Norway/Switzerland, Latvia/Slov

Good thing they put all the boring games today, and all the good games tomorrow. -
Pavel can convince Feds to come back for one more year. And Fil can talk Selanne into ending his career with the Wings..

Women's hockey is going to be thrown out of the Olympics if it doesn't start getting more competitive. I don't understand why the Canadians don't slow down after they have a 5-6 goal lead. But I guess they're run by the evil coach from Mighty Ducks: "It's not worth winning if you can't win big!".

Good, hopefully Parise gets it going now.

2010 Winter Olympics - Belarus vs Sweden (Group C)
dat's sick replied to redwings8831's topic in General
Yet he has an Olympic and WHC gold in the same year.. He has said that he'll play everyone equally to start things, even the 4th line got PP time today, to see who shows they want more ice-time and who shows they deserve less. But if he doesn't start putting out real PP formations and playing the best guys more in the Finland game I don't know what to think. -

I'm willing to bet they would have scored atleast a goal or two tonight if Franzen was there instead of Hornqvist. Forsberg and Z look good together to me, having some real good combinations. Hornqvist doesn't have the hockey intelligence to keep up though. -

Looking good in the group-stage is the kiss of death. Besides, Canada won in shootout against Switzerland. USA didn't impress against Norway, Russia with all their offense couldn't score more than once against Slovakia. I loved this game. A loss against Finland now and I think we'll get gold. That's pretty much how we did it in 2006. In 2002 we crushed Canada in the group stage and lost against Belarus in the quarters. -

He's been okay. Hornqvist is kinda messing up that line though, switching him and Franzen is such a no-brainer. -

Sweden looking a lot better today than against Germany. Not getting too excited though, Belarus looks like they might be the worst team in the tournament next to Norway. -

No line-changes are announced for the game. However, the Zetterberg line are written as the 1st line along with Lids and Kronner. Which is as it should be. -

Zucharello has been one of the best players on the ice. Swedish announcers just mentioned that Detroit Scout Hakan Andersson firmly believes Zucharello can play in the NHL. Wouldn't mind it if we could lure him to Detroit. -

Looked to me like Lidstrom had atleast as much ice-time as Ohlund/Enstrom, atleast even-strenght. -

I think he is legally unable to go to the NHL this year. -

Decent first game for Sweden. Looked good at times, bad at others. Germany is a pretty good team so I'm not too bothered we "only" won with 2-0. Germany won't get crushed by anyone else. Forsberg and Zetterberg probably impressed me the most this game. They look good together. All they need is Franzen on their line, Hornqvist isn't really smart or skilled enough to keep up. Sedins looked better in the 3rd and so did Backstrom-Alfredsson. Don't think any huge linechanges are needed. Johansson is obviously not a d-man for the Olympics though. If he looks this bad against Germany, how will he look against Russia or Canada? -

They really need to put Franzen with Forsberg. Hank and Hornqvist just can't finish on his sweet set-ups. -

Sedin line has gotten 100% of the PP time in this game. Annoying (despite them scoring a goal one of them). -

Right now I'd much rather see a Forsberg-Zetterberg-Franzen line. The Sedins aren't doing much out there, looks like their recent slump is continuing.
