  1. I agree, I hope he's wrong. I'd rather have a 4th line of Hornqvist-Pahlsson-Modin and put Franzen with playmakers like Forsberg and/or Backstrom, or with Zetterberg who he obviously already has good chemistry with.
  2. Franzen will apparently step right into Holmstrom's role meaning he'll probably be on the 4th line. Can't wait for the first real practice with the entire team on the ice.

    Weekend Picks

Another average week for me.. atleast I'm consistant.
  4. Don't think anyone know the lines yet. First practice is tonight so we'll get a first indication then. Something like that is probably likely though.
  5. I would have prefered it if Franzen and Homer both played and Modin didn't, but basically I wanted Franzen on the team no matter the cost so this works too. Too bad for Homer but some rest will do him good. Hopefully he's 100% when the break is over, and Franzen is up to speed (if he isn't already).

Maltby back for one more year?

Lidstrom yes. Holmstrom maybe, but I think he's getting to a point where his body just can't take much more abuse. Draper and Maltby need to go after their contracts are up. Sorry, I know how important they've been for us. But in Helm and Abdelkader we have perfect replacements.

Did we just hold on to a lead? Did we just not collapse in the 3rd? I can't believe my eyes. Exactly the kind of game we needed before the break

    Bertuzzi SUCKS

I think the writer has a point. There's a reason a guy like Holmstrom is so good next to Datsyuk and Zetterberg. He plays simple and rarely gives the puck away. When Z or Pav passes to Homer they can count on getting the puck back. Not so much with Bert, who will overcomplicate things and turn the puck over. Bert makes a lot of simple mistakes. The last month or so he's been really bad and mainly going around taking stupid penalties. Can you blame the entire season on Bert? Of course not. But it does feel like he doesn't quite fit in with the Wings puck-possession hockey.

    Maybe because everyone was constantly cheap-shotting him? Besides I've seen him make 10x more plays where he SHOULD have fallen down but managed to stay on his feet than I've seen him embellish and fall. name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&"> name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src=" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350" />

If he'd be risking his career by playing then yes. But I'm not a doctor so I don't know, maybe he'll be fine as long as he has that knee brace.

Yeah 1 beer pretty much starts to get you drunk. Now drunk doesn't have to mean that you can't stand up straight and have double-vision. Long before you even really know it yourself, the alcohol starts to affect your senses and your reaction times. It's not that it's impossible to drive from point A to point B after having 1-2 beers. But if there's a situation where you have to do a split-second decision those beers may be difference between reacting fast enough or not. 99% of the time you'll probably be ok when you drive after having a beer. But maybe that other 1% you're not okay. Also if you start to think "oh, I just had 1 beer, I'm fine" there's a high probability that you'll soon think you can drive just fine after 2 beers, then 3, and so on.. where do you draw the line? I know people who have lost their lives because of drunk driving or drunk drivers and that's why I can't stand when people try to justify it in anyway..

Did you see the Aftonbladet article? The inner ligament in his left knee is almost completely torn off and he needs a knee brace to "replace" the ligament. He says it's gonna be about a year before it's good again. Honestly not sure if I want him to play the Olympics after hearing it's that bad.

It's bad enough that you guys get your driver license at 16 (way too soon), now I hear that everyone drives drunk as well.

It's crazy to think this could be his 5th Olympics. And the only ones who think it's weird that he's there are Red Wings homers who can't see past a long-dead rivalry to recognize a great player.
