..uhhh WHAT?? maybe things are different in the US than over here, but I don't know anyone who thinks it's okay to drive after even one beer. You just don't do it. Most people I know even try to stay away from driving the whole next day after a night out, as you should because the alcohol takes a while to leave your system. Driving drunk is one of the most idiotic things you can do and I'm appalled you guys are trying to defend it.

couldn't disagree more. Cheli obviously wasn't "fine". He couldn't stand on one leg for more than a few seconds. The cop seemed pretty cool, just doing his job. Only thing I dislike is that they have to cuff him behind his back. First of all I don't see why cuffs are even necessary if you don't think the guy might be a threat, and if you're gonna cuff him atleast do it with the hands in front. Stupid thing to do by Cheli. It was sad listening to him begging the cop to let it slide. But I have no sympathy for drunk drivers. Especially not rich ones, that can easily afford to get a cab.

Hossa didn't want to stay because it meant we would have to get rid of other players to fit him under the salary cap. It wasn't as simple as Filppula vs. Hossa, 2 million more would have had to be cleared. And honestly I'm kinda glad we didn't sign him. Another 10+ year deal would have been scary considering we already have Z and Franzen signed that long. If Franzen wasn't injured all year we wouldn't have missed Hossa as much as we have. And Holland couldn't have known that.

Hudler Samuelsson Leino I was hoping Nah that's the problem isn't it, those players are hard to find. Afinogenov I guess. Eric Fehr maybe. But I don't think we'd get those players by throwing Miller and Lebda their way. Toronto has a couple of guys that would be interesting to me. They're basically a team of 3rd liners and Kessel. At this point I'm so desperate I'd ALMOST give Tatar a game or two just to see what happens.

And HERE'S where I feel like people can't see the forest for all the trees, or something. Look at that bottom six. I love Helm and Eaves. But they are 4th line players. GREAT 4th line players, so good that some people think they're 3rd line players. Obviously it goes without saying that Miller, Draper and Malts are also 4th line players. See the problem? FIVE 4th liners in the bottom six. Compare that to last year when we had Samuelsson-Filppula-Hudler on the 3rd line. SCORING DEPTH. Ever heard of it? Why should we trade away Filppula, one of the few skilled guys we have left on the team after last offseason, and play with two 4th lines? And it's not like trading Fil will land us a huge name like Kovalchuk who can win games singlehandedly. Going for scoring depth is what we should be doing. I like what Miller has done for us. I respect the career Maltby has had. But I wouldn't hesitate for a second if we could move them, together with something like Lebda/Meech+picks and get a REAL 3rd line scorer. Split up Hank and Pav, let Fil center the 3rd line. Playoffs here we come. Maybe.

That was actually a pretty sweet attempt and it wasn't far from going in. He has to try new moves every now and then, they can't all work. edit: good news about Pav and Fil, although it's bad news they're even having any injuries at all.

Isn't it more likely that Eaves or Kronwall will be put on LTIR? I don't see what could have happened in the OT or Shootout against SJ that would make Pav or Fil require LTIR..

What's this LTIR talk? The way it's just brushed over "they weren't skating" without further comment makes me think it's nothing big.. maybe they just needed a day off? God I hope so anyway. A long-term injury to either of them, especially Pav, would most likely be what finally kills our playoff hopes. And don't even mention the word trade..

Olympic break will stop all momentum, good and bad. Hopefully. The first 5 or so games after the break could very likely seal our fate if our current play continues.

One of his absolute worst qualities is how he seems to have no feel for who's hot and who's not in any given game. Like tonight, Bert was cold as hell, invisible really. And he has been for a while. Meanwhile, Mule was everywhere, had a great goal and was close to having more. Yet Bert gets to go before Franzen. I don't care that he's rusty, shootouts are so much about confidence and just being hungry to score. Datsyuk-Franzen-Williams-Zetterberg-Filppula-Bertuzzi Something like that the SO order should be imo. Btw, to the people putting this loss on Zetterberg and Datsyuk: I thought the both looked great tonight. Certainly outplayed Marley-Heatley-Thornton. Datsyuk had a couple of bad giveaways which is out of character and he missed a great opportunity but he also drew a couple of penalties and was involved in a lot offensively. Z looked like he had more jump than he's had in a while and did some really good things that sadly often lead nowhere but he tried atleast.

We can't steal points when we're being outplayed and we can't secure points when we're outplaying other teams. That means we don't get a lot of points. Damn goalies standing on their heads, bounces not going our way, players missing open nets, s***outs, injures.. this season is like a bad headache.

I hate when Rafalski and Williams are taking the shot on the PP. Lidstrom, Franzen, Datsyuk and Zetterberg should be shooting.

Not asking for 30 goal seasons from them but the occasional shot ON GOAL would be nice.

Too bad he can't shoot for s***. Him and Lebda are some of the worst shooters in the league. 98% of their shots either get blocked or are high and wide, the other 2% are soft in the chest of the goalie.

For like 5-10 seconds before that goal I saw Ericsson stumbling around looking completely lost and I got a bad feeling. Then they scored. It's like he completely forgot what defense is. Picking up the open guy is an unknown concept to him. Shame we gave that up because it was a good period otherwise. It would be unfortunate if we would lose when we finally play good.

Oh man Ericsson looked TERRIBLE there.
