Are you a Hasek apologist? Just asking...
-
Hasek - 15 NHL seasons - 791 games played (including playoffs) = 64.3% of possible games Roy - 20 NHL seasons - 1276 games played (including playoffs) = 77.8% of possible games Brodeur - 14 NHL seasons - 1043 games played (including playoffs) = 90.8% of possible games I thought the stats offered up already, including the one ultrapail gave above, said a lot, and remember, stats for Dom include 01/02 & 03/04 seasons in Detroit, 05/06 season in Ottawa, and this season in Detroit. That is about 25% of his career playing with fantastic teams with top talent. It's not like all of the teams in Buffalo were horrible either, there was a Cup appearance in there. I'm fine with offering up hard data, but like you said, no metric is really reliable

That is exactly my point. Brodeur and Parent have different factors that benefited and challenged each of them. Comparison is pointless. The amount of games could be argued as a benefit or a detriment, especially with the different travel schedules for each player. Rules, speed, skill, and physicality of the game each played in are also different. As far as comparing Dom, Roy, and Brodeur....that is a different argument altogether. An interesting argument I might add. Good point, think about that blueline they have this year. Rafalski didn't play a good portion of the year. Must be nice to have just a slightly higher winning percentage when you have had to play in 20 or so less games, and have the first or second night of a back to back off all season long. You can't compare those numbers in my opinion, and you can't compare the defensive corps for each team either. Hasek hasn't had anywhere near the season Brodeur has had.
-
I understand your argument Fairy boy, and that is why I can make the same argument and flip the table on ya. Would Parent be able to post 48 wins in today's NHL? You can't make that argument any more than I can for Brodeur posting the same amount of wins during Parent's era. Your argument is also flawed in that you make it sound as if Parent was playing out there by himself. Did he not benefit from the very strong Philly teams playing in front of him? Were there not a couple of consecutive Stanley Cup teams right around the time he set that record? Parent was great, no doubt, I'm not saying anything on the contrary. Brodeur is without a doubt, the best goaltender of his era, and deserves this record. Regardless of how Brodeur won his games, he still had to go out and win them, and to use the term overrated in relation to Martin Brodeur conveys nothing more than your ignorance. Good day.

C'mon what? If Holland receives information the cap is going up substantially in the next year or two....this deal doesn't look nearly as bad when the cap was at $42M.
-
LOL, As a player, I really enjoyed Hull in Detroit. My word, the guy is a horse's pitoot every time he opens his mouth. If I were McGuire, I would never let Hull live that comment down.
-
Interesting....Holland said the Union and the League have told him the cap is going to push 50M soon.....with that in mind, this is a solid deal.
-
I think I would like to see this deal closer to the $6M number than the $7M number....but other than that, I like the deal.
-
Does anyone else here love the fact that Stevie is involved with our organization long term?
-
Interesting, "Stevie has taken a special interest in him."
-
Wow, just wow.
-
the details are forthcoming.....
-
I think Dats has steadily progressed to becoming one of the better two way forwards in the league. This is very welcome news.
-
13Dats...I don't know who you are, but you are certainly deemed legit. Thanks for sharing!

I laughed out loud when I saw the title of this thread. Other than Lilja the pylon, there isn't another player who is on our roster that I dislike more. I've never liked his style of play, and played above his head because of his linemates last year. I think this squirrel found his nut with the contract Holland offered him last off season.
-
I think the number is 36, timothy1997....congratulations if so...
-
Excited anyone? I see you all lurking in here!
-
That is not correct. I just hit rewind on this with TiVO 3 times - "By the way, we're told the NHL will review Jordan TooToo's hit on Stepan Robidas."
-
I really couldn't agree with you more. Every good team is going to need a guy that can get under the skin of the other team (in years past, for us it has been Maltby). With that said, I think we could say that 22 is out of control, and he needs to be knocked down a notch or two. A healthy suspension is in order. Nothing in the double digits, but I think 5-7 would be acceptable.
-
The thing is, with Big Bert sitting on the other bench, 22 won't even attempt these kind of antics.... You know who I am starting to lose respect for? That midget who reminds of the underworld priest on Beetlejuice the Predators call their coach. He should have started reigning this guy in after going -1000 during the home and home against Detroit.
-
Watching the Wings game on CI, so I have the HNIC feed. I don't believe it. I reserved comment on this guy in the other thread we have on him right now...but I will no longer. Jordan 22 is one of THE biggest assholes in the game right now. I would like to talk to any Nashville fan who actually thinks throwing that punch without dropping his gloves was acceptable. That was flat our a sucker punch on Robidas, and the guy left the ice on a stretcher. He better get a suspension, and how the Predators and their fans can accept this guys as being a part of their organization is beyond me.

Hockey on television is meant to be broadcast in HD. It just doesn't get any better. As a Center Ice customer, the games in HD are limited. Unlike all the major sports, upgrading from the standard package is not an option. (I believe MLB will soon have an agreement in place with DirecTV) I say we should have a choice. Let your voice be heard! Go to the below link, and at the bottom of the page you will see another link to contact NHL Center Ice.. Send your feedback if you would like to see more games in HD through the Center Ice package. http://www.nhl.com/nhlhq/centerice.html I sent the following: I understand not all games are available in HD through NHL Center Ice, but the NHL should be working to broadcast as many games in HD as possible. Our game in HD is a completely different television experience. The NFL Sunday Ticket through DirecTV has a an "upgrade" feature customers can pay for to view games in HD versus standard DTV. The NHL should pursue this with Sports InDemand and all cable and satellite providers, and have this in place by next season. I can tell you, I would gladly the pay the extra fee if it meant I could view the majority of games in HD. All the major sports (Major League Baseball is close to their agreement with DirecTV) will have something like this in place. This is a no brainer...get it done!
-
Besides the HD Net games, DirecTV does have channel 95 they seem to broadcast at least a couple of HD hokcey games from local feeds each week. I did get to see the Predators/Wings and Kings/Wings games in HD recently, and of course, the Bruins debacle. So I would agree, there is a lot more being offered this year than in past years. Believe me, if the NHL, television partners, and advertisers believe there is a market out there, we will have the option to get the CI games in HD. I did hear a rumor about DirecTV offering a ton of new HD channels, and their ads indicate this is truth, and a big part of these new HD channels is supposed to be sports. I would venture to guess that if they already have the NFL set up, maybe hockey and basketball will be next. I am still encourage everyone who frequents this site to let your voice be heard. Its worth doing, so just take two minutes.
