As a fan of an organization which has endured its share of tragedies, my heart goes out to Luc's family, the Canucks, and all involved. May they find the strength to carry on.

Yeah, Matt is the admin - but his join date is the same as mine. I remember all those problems Matt. I think I joined in 2001 sometime, but I don't think anyone has an earlier join date listed than June 4th, 2002 anymore.

The guy can really be picked apart for everything in this article, except for the Aurie piece. At the very least, it should be something that Ilitch family respond to. There may be a good reason for the actions taken by the organization, but they've never stepped forward and explained their position, and that makes them look suspect.

Bluemonk, I remember years back when you posted after seeing hockey in HD for the first time. I used part of that post as my sig for a long time. It was something like this: "I turned and looked, lo and behold, a hockey game being shown on a beautiful high definition television. It was like looking through a ******* plate glass window." So yeah....I have a pretty basic system. 42 inch Samsung DLP. For sound I don't have much, I just use an optical audio cord to a 7.1 Sony receiver, but the only speakers I have wired up are two KLH for right and left audio and a nice JBL Subwoofer that you cannot see in this picture on the floor next the bookcase..it could be much better, but like Matt, and you can tell by the picture, our set up is in the family area as well.

Which one? Regardless, I've never really been treated that unfairly over there. There is always a bit of disdain, sure, but I kill 'em with kindness and the truth.

I don't care who you are a fan of, bringing in +/- into the argument is somewhat pointless. Even when it is really, really good or really, really bad it takes further analysis to reveal anything about the number itself.

Speak for yourself. Honestly and objectively, I don't take Gonchar over Rafalski or Kronwall. I do take him over Stuart.

I'm not a regular, but I keep my account because there are some good hockey guys over there. CPrice (the Admin), Mellanby Equals Grit, and Kodos are reputable, but I usually get flamed by someone whenever I visit, and I'm always respectful.

I didn't read all the previous posts, but I'm guessing some LGW folks are saying that Sid can't lead....well, that's BS. His team has come this far under his watch, so that is a fraudulent argument, and Wings fans should look at the history of their own franchise to know that the age someone is given the "C" is irrelevant.

I love how this thread has Matt all fired up... I know why he's fired up. Those of us who have been watching Red Wings squads for a long time see championship pedigree in this team. Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Filpulla, Kronwall, Franzen, and Hudler have completely taken the torch and are now leading this team while some wily veterans from the previous administration (Lids, Chelios, Draper, Maltby, McCarty) oversee the transition with newcomers like Rafalski and Drake. This team has a focus, a cohesiveness, that we have not seen since '02, and really, that was a team of superstars, a team that was supposed to win, so I would say we haven't seen a team like this since '97 and '98. With that said, much of this could be used to describe the Pens', but only to a point. It's just not their turn right now. They aren't as deep and don't have the experience. Anyone trying to compare the Wings and Pens d-corps are sadly mistaken. The Pens have A LOT of offensive talent, but they have not faced a top four of this caliber. Hell, they haven't even faced a top two of this caliber, and while they have won, they have not dominated opposing defenses. A championship for Detroit is not inevitable, but they are within sniffing distance....and the last three times they were within sniffing distance, well, we know what happened. It's not about fan arrogance or homerism, it's just being able to discern when a team has turned the corner, and that is exactly what the Red Wings have done.
