This was my sentiment from day one. I have always looked at Hossa as a rental to help us repeat. We won the cup last year without him. I stated how if we won this season, I would be completely comfortable attempting a three peat with that same team (more or less-factoring in players fading and new players emerging) that won in 2008. I will forever respect Hossa and I would love to have him here for the rest of his career. He is a true Red Wing; an excellent fit. Unfortunately, the salary cap won't allow it. Decision makers can't let emotion get in the way. I don't think Holland will make that mistake. The Red Wings have always won with depth. I do not want to deviate from this model now.

Look at this guy fall down again. Worthless!

It was 7-0. I know this to be a fact. Anyways, I think we can all agree it was one of the best games in Red Wings history.
-
He was asked a question and he answered it with a fact. What would you rather have him say? We like sweeps. It's good for the fans and the league! Stating the obvious does not mean they are openly rigging the games. Let's be reasonable.
-
Oh, come on. This literally means nothing. It's like business 101.
-
Wings win 5-1. I just have a gut feeling that this will be a blowout. The machine-like Red Wings make an appearence in a crucial game five. We dominate. Point blank~

Dallas Drake was the best! I wish he could have played here for a longer period of his career. He had such passion to win.

This is nothing new or ground breaking. The NHL is a business just like any other. He didn't say they were rigging the games or intentionally dragging the series out. It is a fact that long series are better. It's more Tv add revenue, more fan attendence, and interest tends to build as a series goes deeper. In no way did he say they were working to ensure the series go longer. He only said sweeps are bad for the league (and they are).

If I were Mindfly, I would have made a horrendously negative comment that suggests all hope is lost. That was just silly sarcasm! I think we are going to win game 5 regaurdless of how awful the officiating is. THE RED WINGS ARE MAD AS HELL AND WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!!!!

I hear this guy is a pretty good referee.

Dan O'Halloran is unbiased against the Red Wings. Discuss.

Chris Pronger is not a dirty player. That ought to get us closer to 2000

This thread just made me picture Osgood skating out of his net with the puck and scoring a '97 Mccarty-like goal. Osgood draws. Osgood in. OSGOOD SCORES.The crowd goes wild! BLOOD DRUNK
-
Who do you think is the round 1 MVP? Chris Osgood for his play in the first 3 games. 2nd would be Pavs. What are some of your best memories from this series? Henrik Zetterberg putting game 3 and the series away when mike commodore went behind the net to get revenge for the Stuart hit. The crowd started to stand and then all sat down immediately in disappointment. It reminded me of the statue of liberty Roy save. Ozzie getting a standing ovation for his game 2 shut out at the Joe. Anything you are surprised over? Disappointed in anything? I was disappointed that we lost 2 separate 2 goal leads in game 4. Although I understand that sometimes it happens. The other guys want to win and make plays too. I was pleasantly surprised we swept them. Before the series, I thought it would go 5, possibly 6 games. Best goal in the series? Franzen's clutch goal in the final minute of game 4. (or a repeat of zetterberg's goal)

John Tortorella suspended 1 game for game 5 antics
19Hockeytown5 replied to XxGoWingsxX's topic in General
As a coach, he represents the Ny Rangers and the NHL. You just can't have him throwing objects into the crowd. What if that bottle had hit a kid or an old lady in the face? He should have just pointed the fan out and had him removed from the building. A suspention might be a little harsh ( I don't know), but it certainly warrents a fine. -
I hope the Ducks win in 7. Otherwise, we draw a rested Canucks team. I would assume both Detroit and Vancouver want the Ducks to win. Vancouver would get a beaten and battered winner of Chicago/Calgary with little rest. They also would have home ice. If Anaheim wins, they have to fly to the Joe from the West coast and jump right back into a series with Detroit. I think we would really be able to overwhelm them with energy and physical play in the first 2 games. I want the Ducks. No team scares me. Of course every team in the West left can beat us. However, I remain confident. If a team is good enough to beat this wings team 4 out of 7 tries, I can only bow my head with respect.

These powerplay camera angles are awful

Did anyone just hear the comment on VS about the Wings win?
19Hockeytown5 replied to RyanK's topic in General
The "experts" on Vs make me laugh. Before the first round some analysis on there predicted the Sharks to cruise over the Ducks and win in 5. He went on to guarantee that Detroit would get upset in the first round by the BlueJackets. Whoops -
I trust that Pavel will provide free Arbys; You should too.

WCQF GAME 3 GDT: Red Wings 4, Blue Jackets 1
19Hockeytown5 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Debura, we have looked excellent. The pk has been spectacular. We are winning the battles to the puck and holding our own with the physical play. Osgood has made a couple big saves at key points. Since then though he could probably take a nap back there. "The winged wheel is as well oiled as it has ever been" -

The Detroit Red Wings are soft, and Chris Osgood sucks. -
Ovie kicked out of practice... The NYR's, that is.

Ao is the only player I like who doesn't wear the Winged wheel. PLAYIN' MIND GAMES -
I think a playoff vs regular season stat can be misleading. In the playoffs, the teams are all good. The defensive play, physicality, and intensity picks up ten fold. In the regular season, you play a lot of bad teams and can rack up points. I think it's only natural that your average stats would be lower... I never watch Thorton or the Sharks, but I refuse to put blame on one man. They ALL are choking and I'm loving it

Columbus Columnist: Osgood is Wings' Weak Link
19Hockeytown5 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
This must be one unbreakable chain. The chain being the Detroit Red Wings Dynasty. The more criticism, the better. Ozzie is a man on a mission. It fuels his fire to shut the doubters up. again and again and AGAIN...
