    Filppula's SCF Goal

Just in Red Wings History I can think of better HIGHLIGHT goals. Mccarty's cup clinching goal in 97 was better. Yzermans Ot goal vs st louis Drapers OT goal vs washington. Don't get me wrong val's goal was awesome but the game was already 2-0. There have been far more signifcant goals and I think that adds to how great the goal is. Fun topic though

    Detroit day on ESPN Classic

I paid 400 dollars for my tickets and drove 2 hours. I waited my etire life to actually have a chance to be AT the game where the Wings won a cup ):

    The Redwings 07-08 DVD

It was good, but I don't think it was good as the other years. I absolutely loved the 2002 version. Didn't stop me from watching this one 3 times though . I still love it!

Who gets the 12th starting forward spot?

Indeed, I forgot about that. I was evem at that game which makes it worse but it's not like it was nessasary for our cup run.

Who gets the 12th starting forward spot?

I think teams would be foolish to take stupid penalties vs Detroit. I mean do you really want to see Hossa, Zet, Dat, Lid, and Raf out their for 2 minutes on the PP?...We can make them pay with goals and wins. Detroit isn't a fighting team, but they are tough since Babs came here. They hit, hussle, and don't back down. I would take these type of players ANYDAY compared to people who can swing fists around (and thats it...). I mean Detroit just won the cup, and unless I'm drawing a blank, there was not a SINGLE fight during our playoff run. I would much rather have helm play than maccarty....

Kenny has some work left to do

Also Detroit may not have guys that will throw punches and fight...but make no mistake about it they are tough. They have players that will battle and fight in the corners. Babs has them finishing checks all over the ice. I can't think of anyone on this team anymore that shys away from contact. This team is tough, I thought the last 2 seasons had finally put that to rest...they will be FINE this year. There's all this talk about the pens learning and becoming stronger with expirence but there were alot of guys on Detroit who just had their first taste of the finals. They now know what it takes, and being that Detroit returns the same team (with MORE expirence) and Hossa....We are only stronger.

Kenny has some work left to do

Huddler is a good lower line player. I don't understand why some people think we should get rid of him. I like his potential and he did score one of the biggest goals of the finals...game 4 backhand in Pittsburgh. Sammy was HUGE in the finals as well. 3 goals people 3. I wouldn't want to trade him either. They are both great depth and cheap.

Who gets the 12th starting forward spot?

I absolutely love all this competition for the 3rd and 4th lines. The Red Wings organization is the winner in all of this. This competition level of players trying to stay on the team will make our lower lines better and better. So much for being "complacent" after a title. This is perfect and we should only get deeper and stronger. Should compliment our amazing 1st and second line well~

    Because we're bored....

Being at game 1 and being surprised to see Steve Yzerman out their on the ice one more time. That was an absolutely incredible moment with the fans screaming STEVE. The octopus on the ice at melon arena after their fans swearing that it would never happen. Osgood's 2 shutouts and the crowd goign wild for him during the three stars presentation. When Crosby got crushed by I think stuart towards the end of game 6. There's just too many awesome things from these finals! good topic

    Because we're bored....

    1. Rafalski's Goal to put Detroit up 3-2 in game 5. I was there and the Joe was Rockin'. It was incredible. "WE WANT THE CUP" 2. Zetterbergs defense on the 5-3. I mean after what he did on the defensive end he got a shot and STILL was the first one into the corner to get the rebound.... 3 Huddler's backhand to win game 4 in the third. HUGE goal to put us up 3-1 in the series. 4. Franzens solo effort/goal as he crashed the net in game 3, even though we lost 5. Flip's diving goal.

    The most annoying NHL teams

    1. Pittsburgh Penguins- The media hype was disgusting and it was almost painful to listen to the biased commentary half the time. Terrian is a terrible coach and always complains. Their bandwagon is sickening and they say they are the real hockeytown because they sold out for 1 season........Sidney Crosby NEED I SAY MORE? Long term it will be hard to hate them because they are in the east and we won't play them enough to create an actual rivalry, but right now TODAY, I hate them more than anyteam in the NHL. 2. Colorodo avalanche-We all know the history... but since the game 7 BEATdown and the sweep this year it just hasn't been the same (players are vastly different too, although some remain). They just aren't a legitiment threat to us anymore and rivalry is created by two teams that stand in each others way for a championship. 3. Anaheim Ducks-Burke, Pronger.....the 2003 sweep. I just really don't like the ducks. Goons. "honorable" mention San jose/calgary

    Todd Bertuzzi

I was completely embarrased that he suited up for our classy organization and would NEVER want to see him again, even if he returned to his old form.

A bet I made with my friend...

I think the Red Wings will win between 52-58 games. 68 is Rediculous. This coming from a diehard fan.. but as long as they win 16 in the playoffs I'll be happy. Regular season means nothing to this franchise.

Behind the Scenes look of Wings Championship DVD

    History Repeats

There is no question Lidstrom #5 will hang up with #19. Shanahan and Federov would have but now should not (and won't) be up there. I completely agree that guys like Draper, Holmstrom, Mccarty, Maltby, ect have been great for us. They are all fantastic role players (detroit would not have won cups without these men) and played in Detroit most/all of their careers. However, they should be honored in another way such as a Red Wings hall of fame or some other kind (pictures in the lobby, statues or something) not jersey retirement. #30 osgood. He is quietly breaking many red Wings goaltending records and if he plays 3-4 more years he will have many more. The fans love the man and he has been nothing but a class act. It will be interesting to see if he can add another cup ring (or 2) and break some more of sawchuk's records. If he does I think he COULD deserve a place up there when all is said and done, just not yet.

Bowman: It'll be difficult to repeat

It is difficult to repeat, expecially in a sport like hockey. I think this bowmen guy might know a thing or two about winning Stanley Cup titles.

Hossa's agent is floored by his client's behaviour

You can't blame the agent at all. He's probably not a wings fan and could care less about their sucess. He is just a normal guy that watches millions of his dollars fly out the window. I think anyone would be upset. but like you said, he WORKS for Hossa. This is what Hossa wants and I completely respect(am happy as hell!) about his decision.

    Wings current rank

Goaltending top 10 (7-10) Now I love Osgood as much as the next diehard. He isn't spectacular in that he carries the team (doesn't have to) but he just gets the job done. He doesn't face alot of shots but he makes the key saves. He really is calm and obviously switching to him was the catalyst for the cup run. Defense #1. Nicklas Lidstrom...Need I say more? lol. Anyways we have the best top 4 in the game and alot of depth. We play a smart patient system and have a solid goaling backstopping it. Offense (1-2) Our first and second lines should be stellar and we once again have alot of depth. Charactor guys that can score on any given night (draper/huddler/ectect). Zet, dat, holms/fran, hossa, filp.

    Pittsburgh press, more lunacy

What's amazing is they actually beleive that. Almost all of their fans think they are gaurenteed a return trip to the finals, but I ask how many 1 year wonder teams have you seen over the last 5 seasons? They vastly underestimate the losses to their team. Even though I am nuts we added Hossa to an already stellar roster I realize we are not just going to cake walk to the finals. ANYTHING can happen, hot goalies, hot teams, injuries, bad bounces...ect. It's the stanley cup playoffs...I have learned to appreciate our cup wins even more now after the heart breaking losses.
