Report: 2009-10 cap rumored to be $55M

Ok first. Yes Hossa has been arguably one of the top players on the Wings so far where did i say he wasn't? Did i say anything about one player vs Hossa? Where in the hell did i say Hossa vs one player??? Like i can't even believe i am wasting my time writing this because you know so little about hockey and what your replying to. Do you realize what i said was, if you keep Hossa you have to dump 3-4 guys to fit him under salary. do you know anything about the salary cap? Two. This is where you make yourself look really stupid. Have you ever played hockey? Do you know anything about the sport besides you like seeing cool goals scored? Do you know that a player capable of preventing a goal is just as good as a player capable of scoring a goal? Do you see anything on the ice besides goals and sick plays? Do you follow and understand whats going on, on the ice at all times? Nope. Your just a casual guy watching hockey with a casual eye for hockey. So stop acting like you know whats going on, stop and listen. You might learn something. Go watch the penguins if you want to see solo super star talent goals scored all night long. This is the Detroit Red Wings where defence comes first, and flip is probably one of the best defensive players in the league you can get your hands on for around 3 mill. Yeah bud show me some players please that can take his spot at minimum salary. I can name guys that are paid 6 mill a season that couldnt take on his defensive role.

Report: 2009-10 cap rumored to be $55M

I just wanted to quote that one more time so nobody can miss it. Hossa is gone. Why? Read what this guy wrote. Theres also one more reason to add to that. This is pure speculation but theres no way in hell that Hossa would be willing to sign long term at a cut salary. Maybe for another year or even two at a cut salary but thats it. Again pure speculation tells me Zetterberg is willing to sign long term at a 7millish salary. Do you think were going to give up Zetterberg at 5 years 7 mill for Hossa at 1-2 years 7 mill? Nope. Wings look for the future > today. So that ends both arguments. Theres no way in hell we can keep Hossa and Zetterberg and theres no way in hell were going to keep Hossa over Zetterberg. Were talking about already loosing a key player to just sign Zett and Franz. To sign Hossa were going to have to give up much more. Hossa is not better than 3-4 players that we have spent that last 4 years developing. Don't count on Flip going anywhere. Hes far more important than putting up numbers. For f*** sake hes been playing on the 3rd line and hes a great pker. Do you guys not watch this guy play or what? Hes a very good player to have on the ice night in night out.

Detroit DOES have a #1 line

Zetterberg line seems to have more sucess keeping the puck in the offensive zone on the power plays. So i think thats why hes been starting to give them to first half. Take a shot at keeping the puck in the O zone disallowing a line change and hoping to create mistakes. thats my theory, but what do i know im only the king.

Bettman is going to lose die hard fans

It isn't effecting the out come of games as much as we would like to think. The teams that should be on top still are right? Most games end up pretty close to even in power play chances. To tell you the truth of it all, the better team usually has a better power play % and penalty kill %. So doesn't that really mean if theres 20 penaltys in a game and both sides got somewhat an even ammount of chances. That the better team will have an even greater advantage? Something to think about.

Penalties called according to the score?

The calls are inconsistent anyone that can't see it is a dumbass. Its getting ridicules bottom line. Every game, every period. The refs seem to have a different idea on whats going to be a penalty and whats not going to be a penalty. On top of that theres just way to many questionable calls. They also been handing out 5 on 3s like its continental breakfast. Does anybody know what the 5:3 conversation rate percentages are? I'm getting sick of this s***. Most of the games i have watched each have had 2-4 pp goals per game. How can you tell me that 4 pp goals in one game didnt change the outcome of the game? So then how can you tell me that the refs arent changing the outcome of the game?

    Does Anyone Else Miss Dom?

Hasek SUCKED the last few years, I could not wait for him to retire. So sick of him making stupid decisions with the puck costing the team goals. Watching him fall on his back everytime he lost sight of the puck. He had the worst angling that i have seen. Goaltending is about angling and positioning now days. You guys think has is good because he has fast hands and legs. He always had to make up for his horrible angling/positioning and make a big glove save. When any other goalie would have made it look easy because it should have been. Anyone that thought he was good just doesnt have a clue about hockey. Most of you guys really know nothing about the sport your just casual hockey fans. Just because you go to hockey forums doesnt make you a hardcore fan. Now im going to here omg did you see his stats!122345 Yes i have and do you realize any goalie playing for the Detroit Red Wings will have them kind of stats?

Who would produce the most on the 2nd line?

This is not an omg red wings this that thread. Wings are 9-2-3 and they have already faced some of their hardest games of the season until crunch time comes around. They do have some improving to do and its going to happen. None the less i was just wondering what everyone thinks about our 1st/2nd line combo. Zetterberg and Hudler have been connecting for some goals when they are paired. Although i can't help but notice Zetterberg just seems like he has to float around a little more than he would like to find his linemates. He just doesn't have the same options he had with Dats. Hes been producing alot of points but i just wonder what Hossa could do on the second line. I think Hossa would have the best chances of producing on the second line. Hossa doesn't need great passes and line mates to work with. He just needs to simply shoot the puck from anywhere and everywhere. Hossa's one of those solo heroes out of nowhere at any given time kinda player in my perspective. It's really not a question of what combo would produce the most points on the first line because i think whatever you do your probably going to get close to the same results. The real controversy here is who would put up better numbers on the second line?

    Who/What will wake us up?

Osgood? How can you even drop a name like that when your talking about whos at fault here. For one its clearly the numerous defensive mistakes we have been making if you have been watching the games. Its not one person, nor 2 persons. Its the entire team both forwards and defense. For 2 your talking like Osgoods a 7 mill a year goaltender. Hes not paid that kind of money for a reason, hes a solid goaltender not Martin Broduer. His team controling the puck for 3/4ths the game and not allowing many scoring chances is why he has had great stats. I'm not dogging Ozzie at all. Hes a good goaltender couldn't ask for better. It wouldn't even make sense for our team to pay 10 mill a year for a goaltender facing 20 shots a game for the sacrifice we would have to make to get it.

Lines shuffled; Meech in for Lebda

Is Kopecky absolutely horrible or is it just me? He looks like a college player out there. Why are you guys all complaining about Samuelsson, Hudler, Lilja, and whoever else. Kopecky is by far the worst player on the roster period wtf is this guy doing here? Samsuelsson and Hudler have been playing up to par easy. Their great 2nd and 3rd line players quit bitching. You guys expect everyone on the damn team to be 1st line caliber. Do you guys even watch any hockey besides the Red Wings? Its the start of the season. Every team has something to prove right now especially against your defending cup champions that are suppose to be better than ever. Wings are getting played against like its the playoffs. The Wings aren't countering with the same effort. Wings aren't looking good for one reason. THEY DON'T WANT TO WIN AS BAD AS THESE OTHER TEAMS DO. Things will settle down around the 20-25 game mark, mark my words. None of these teams are going to grind out 84 playoff caliber games this season.

Capitals' Semin not Impressed by Crosby

Crosbys one of the Penguins best players and thats all he is. When i watch Pens the guys good but i never found myself saying Crosbys the best in the league. Hes a damn good player but hes not that good.

    Rafalski

What i really can't believe is how deep some of you take someones observations. The guy wasn't saying he needs to retire or be traded. He was just saying he didn't think the guy is playing up to his potential yet. Although i haven't had the time to watch much of there games yet so i couldn't really say much about it.

    Zetterberg as a free agent

7-8m for 5-7 years is realistic for Zetterberg. Gaborik will never be signed long term a team would have to be crazy. He might get his 8m a year contract but no more than a 1-3 years because of his dependability. He is a great player but lets face it hes been around for about 5 years or so and hes only played more than 65 games once. I figure his groin problems can only get worse as he ages. I would love to see Gab get healthy though hes one of my favorite players. Hes just explosive with speed.

    Early reviews on Hossa

Its defiantly to soon to start jumping the gun but its defiantly time to start taking note on whats going on. Like numerous people mentioned no matter what way you look at it Hossa is never going to play with Datsyuk like Zetterberg can.

    Kings claim Quincey

As much as i have an opinion on the subject and id love to see Quincy around. I trust Holland, look at what the guy has done. He thought about it inside and out. I know that he made the best decision for the team and the teams future. We got Erickson coming up next year, if we didn't maybe he would have tried a little harder to make Quincy fit. Think about it, theres no room for Quincy next year anyways.

Hossa is not going to be playing with us after this season get over it.

Hossa's Hunger inspires red wing teammates

Thats the thing man. Is 2 great lines better than having 3 good lines and a solid 4th line? I think not id rather see maximum depth through out the line up over sacrificing depth to have 2 super star lines. Wings proved it by beating the Pens last year that depths superior to super star lines. You can argue saying Pitt had alot of depth but they really didn't. There depth consisted of somewhat big draft names that were underdeveloped and lacked experience. Do you really think Hossa is better than having Cleary, Samuelson, Franzen scattered throughout the lineup for example? After a team trys to match the wings 1st and 2nd line. Out comes Wings 3rd line, what the f*** can a team do? Toss out there 3rd or 4th line and hope for the best. I don't care how a team trys to juggle there lines to match up. Sooner or later theres going to be a mismatch in the Wings favor bottom line. Thats why they win night in and night out.

Hossa's Hunger inspires red wing teammates

I just hope that doesn't mean Hollands willing to dump other players over it. I like Hossa, actually hes one of my fav non Wings until now of course. Zetterbergs contracts up, hes going to be making 7.5m or so a season. Cap might raise a couple million next season. How does this work? If we lost someone like Zetterberg to keep Hossa id be furious. Only other options are to dump say Franzen and Samuelson. I wouldn't like to see Franzen leave to much either. I guess either way you look at it, were not going to have the team we have this season again for along long time so enjoy this one. This is the Dynasty at its peak. All of our young guys that played great last season should be even be greater this season, Hossa, plus Stuart gets more comfortable and learns the ways and plays a full season with us. In theory we can't loose many games this season.

Who Will Lead The Wings In Goals This Season?

Whoever stays healthy Zetterberg if both do.
  22. wingslionstigers

    Datsyuk in tears?

As far as im concerned Hossa's not apart of the Red Wings franchise and never will be. Hes here to defend the cup then hes gone. I don't want to see Zetterberg or Dat split up over it. Things worked great last year for them why change it? You can't beat watching them two guys play, i don't give a f*** if Hossa scores more goals or not. Plus id hate to see Zetterberg loose production over it and downgrade his game. You guys don't realize funny things happen to good players when to much talent comes around and great players get pushed aside to play with guys out of the norm. Same thing goes for guys getting traded to different teams and never living up to what they were on there previous team. Flop Hossa on 2nd line, if he gets 70-80 points accounting he stays healthy and helps his linemates reach 50-55 then he did his job. Another thing that could be a downside to that if you had players with contracts up. You got 30-40 point players scoring 50-60 points due to the presents of a super-star. Now they want to be paid as a 50-60 point player, next season roles around joe pro is gone and they aint worth a f***. Theres some fine print to bringing in to much talent in my opinion.

    Holland Admits the Obvious

Meech or Quincy may or may not be a better prospect than Lilja or Ledba for this upcoming season. Im not going to waist my time getting into that arguement, but theres one thing for sure. They both have more potential than Ledba or Lilja. Lilja will be gone for sure at the price of his contract he could be replaced with equal and more promising future talent for half the pay. Theres only a spot on the team for either Downey or McCarty, They choose Downey. My predictions are Lilja and McCarty will be gone. Hollands not stupid, hes not going to make this decision based entirely on whats the absolute best for the upcoming season. He wants his team to be good in the future just as much as he wants to win this year. He won't be getting rid of any young prospects.

Sundin still doesn't know what the !@$% he's doing

Whats with you guys counting Van out? They don't have a shot are you kidding me? Adding Demitra and Sundin as well as depth like Bernier and Wellwood. How could you count these guys out im counting them in and to go along ways.
