After SJ's first round departure to Anaheim, GM Doug Wilson made a statement saying that there was going to be some major changes in the organization before next season. This is his first punch at following through with that statement. I think this is a smart move, and im suprised Marleau wasn't stripped of the captaincy a couple years back. My first pick is Dan Boyle with Thornton and Blake also in the discussion.

Quincey had a great breakthrough season last year. He proved to the Kings and to the league that he could be a top-tier D man. His point production and team contribution to the Kings earned him a new level of respect this past season. By mid-season he was the Kings go-to-guy on the blue line in all situations.. 34 points in 72 games played. 32nd in defensive regular season points in the league.

Im sorry, but IMHO Wade Redden is not a good defensman. He is overated offensively and coughs up the puck more than any other D on the Rangers. He has not lived up to his name since the Sens cup run a few years back. Since then he has no drive in his game. The Rangers made a terrible signing 2 summers ago (6 mil per), and i believe Redden is the most overpaid and worst "#1" D man in the NHL.

I think too many people underrate Brian Rafalski. Although he has always been a #2 defensman, he has been in the top 5 or 10 in the league for defensive scoring every year he has played in the NHL. He also won an MVP and 2 Defensman of the year awards in Finland. I don't think he ever got drafted either.

Two words... Matt Niskanen. Hes much better than Zubov was when he first entered the league and hes much younger with a world of potential in front of him

Fleury shouldn't even be on this list. Crosby should be more like 8 or 9. Iginla, Brodeur, Lulongo, Getzlaf, Pronger, Thornton are all better than him. And what about Scott Neidermayer? IMO he and Pronger are the best 2 Canadian D-men in the league

I dont even have to click on the link to know that "the experts" ranked Crosbitch at the top of this list, most likely #1. More like the biggest pus in the league if you ask me.
