Your right on the money, except for one thing. Lidstrom will have the better +/- with Pav close behind

Kiprusoff never played for the Sharks. You must be thinking of Calgary But yes, i do remember that game. Kipper is a very on-and-off goalie. When hes on, dont plan on scoring more than 1 (or 2 if your lucky) goal on him. But when hes off his game is when fans like us start to question him.

Ovechkin- Not a chance. You could offer the Caps Nick Lidstrom and Zetterburg for Ovi and they would still turn you down. Malkin- possibly, but you would have to add in a couple high draft picks to go along with Fil and the rights to Hudler

Mike Grier's agent says he's 'interested' in Red Wings
Lidstrom for Norris replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Haha, great video! Just one more reason why we Don't want Mike Grier in Detroit. (That is of course, unless we can get him for under a million) -
obligatory post...

Detroit MIGHT BE interested in Kessel?
Lidstrom for Norris replied to Dominator2005's topic in General
I respectfully disagree. Last season he was 11th overall in defensive scoring in the league with 51 points in 80 games. And he did this with 2 other defencemen on the same team in the top 5 in scoring. I'd say those numbers call for a future #1 in the NHL, especially if he goes to another team, avoiding competing with a guy like Ericcson. -
My theory on why Hudler is jumping ship
Lidstrom for Norris replied to TheDetroitRedWings's topic in General
Getting roughed up after the whistle is part of being a hockey player at a high level. If he can't take that heat, then he doesnt deserve to be in the NHL -
09-10 Calder, and the blueline future.
Lidstrom for Norris replied to Andy Pred 48's topic in General
4-7 years??? I think he has a chance to win the Calder (rookie of the year) this year. Lidstrom will not put up a 55+ point season, as he has the past 15 years, due to his age. Look to a guy like Ericson to step in and pick up the slack -
Its official. Juri Hudler has agreed to a 1 year, $2 million contract with Dynamo Moscow of the KHL. So who do we try and sign to fill the hole?? possibly Alex Tanguay Or do we try and make a trade?

Good thinking. Either way Holland has a lot of work to do
-
So basically if this were to ever happened, San Jose would get fu**ed.. They lose their captain and top-tier goalie for one of the most overated forwards in the league (Blake), a one hit wonder goaltender, and an unpredictable draft pick. This will never happen

Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?
Lidstrom for Norris replied to titanium2's topic in General
Im very happy to see Jeremy Williams in a Wings/Griffins uniform. Hes a great young player with a good scoring touch -
Looks like Burke is finally starting to do something positive for this team.. possibly a playoff team next year?
-
I think Ericcson is a possibility. Sure, nobody will ever be as good as Nick, and Lidstrom and Ericson play a very different type of game from one another. But i think Ericson could turn out to be like a Chris Pronger in his younger days. Hard hitting, gritty, with the ability to put up numbers. He has already proven to us and Babs that he can play 23-27 minutes a game. Could 09-10 be Ericson's breakout year?

Ville Leino signs a 2 year extension
Lidstrom for Norris replied to thedisappearer's topic in General
Now lets not get greedy. -
Prove it.

I agree with your first point, that lidstrom will take less money to play an extra year or two. But were you high when you used the phrase "for a final run at the cup"??? Just because Lidstrom is getting older and will most likely retire in the next year or two does not take away our chances for a cup run once he is gone. This happens to all teams in the league and it really is something that we are going to have to deal with, but we have guys that can fill these holes (Kronwall, Rafalski, Ericson). Now dont get me wrong, no Red Wing defenseman will ever be as good as Lidstrom, but just because hes gone doesn't mean we won't have a competitive team in the post-Lidstrom era.

Jon Quick is a great, young upcomming goalie. You add other young guys like Dustin Brown, Jack Johnson, Drew Doughty, Oscar Mollar, Wayne Simmonds with veterans like Smyth, Frolov, and Scuderi to the mix and in 2-3 years the Kings become a very scary team to play against. **Not that it makes a difference in this discussion, but notice how many American players they have on their roster. All of them comming from U.S. Colleges... interesting, isnt it?

You are not wrong. Breakdown of Chicago D 1. Duncan Keith 2. Brent Seabrook 3. Cam Barker 4. Brian Campbell Yes thats right, hes the #4. He is good on the powerplay and a good contributing defensman in the offensive zone, but i dont believe that he fits into this organization as an all around solid 7 million dollar defensman. Thats just not his role. 5. Brent Sopel 6. Niklas Hjlamerson

This rarely happens, if ever. I do agree that the central division is becoming much more competitive (now argueably the strongest division in the league) and teams like Chicago will give us a run for our money as the reigning division champions.

would Hossa stayed if we would have won the cup?
Lidstrom for Norris replied to WingNutt's topic in General
Two words.... Dustin Brown. He is Los Angeles' franchise leader and captain of that team until he retires. -
Have fun wasting the next 12 years of your life in Chicago, Marian!!!! I have lost all respect...

Jack Johnson being shopped.. Trade for Hudler?
Lidstrom for Norris replied to MFox's topic in General
Kronwall or Rafalski would never happen. Possibly Stuart though -
Jack Johnson being shopped.. Trade for Hudler?
Lidstrom for Norris replied to MFox's topic in General
Im pretty sure that Jack is from Indianapolis. Although he did play for the U.S. development team and U of M, which are both in Ann Arbor, I dont know that i would consider him a "hometown kid". I have a feeling that Ken Holland is comfortable with our current D situation, and will give players like Ericcson and Jakub Kindl larger rolls this season instead of trying to sign another young defensman. I also dont see us not resigning Juri Hudler considering Hossa turned down a 10 year deal to go to Chicago of all places. -
Dont get me wrong, ''Z'' played great in the playoffs, but lets be honest... If it wasnt for Ozzie, how far would we have actually made it? A third of our team was injured at some point in the playoffs and i feel that Ozzie was the one that held us together through this adversity.
