& that's where point two comes in. I'm not saying he'd be the best goalie in the Hall of Fame, but like the salary cap, there has to be a floor & a ceiling. Even if he's the worst goalie in the HoF, he deserves to be in there.

I wrote this at the end of last season: In my mind, absolutely. Every chance Chris Osgood has had, he's taken advantage of it. Three Stanley Cups. Two Jennings. Threehundredandsixtythree wins (15th in NHL history). Four All-Star appearances. One goal. In the 1996-97 season, Chris Osgood played 47 games. That's more than half of the 82 game season. Of course, Vernon was the starter throughout the post-season, but Osgood won the games to get them there. In the 1997-98 season, he played 64 games. Obviously, that's enough to say he got them there. Then he was the starter in the post-season & went 16-6 in the playoffs to win the Stanley Cup for the second time in two years. Now, in 2008, after taking over for a guaranteed Hall of Famer, Dominik Hasek. Chris Osgood has won his third Stanley Cup with a 16-4 record. In that span, he also won 9 consecutive games. I'm aware the NHL is rough on goalies getting into the Hall of Fame & I don't mind that. It's more prestigious that way. But to say Osgood shouldn't get in after everything he's accomplished, that's ridiculous. 1) Osgood never had to stand on his head/Osgood never stole a game This must come from people who didn't watch him stop the Gary Roberts spin-o-rama from point blank (granted, it was Gary Roberts). What about all the OFFENSIVEFIREPOWER from the Pittsburgh Penguins. Or maybe it's because 99% of the time, he was in perfect position & made everything look easy to all the critics. 2) Brodeur, Hasek, Roy are better than him Obviously, Osgood is not as good as these guys who will be getting/ are in the Hockey Hall of Fame. But are you telling me Ron Francis is as good as Wayne Gretzky or Mario Lemieux? I know it seems to be different for goalies, but why? I'm not saying Osgood would be the best goalie in the Hall of Fame. Hell, maybe he'd be one of the worst to some, but he still deserves his place there. 3) He's the product of a great team I'll use the previous three goalies for this. You know, the guaranteed Hall of Fame goalies. Apparently, no one remembers how good the New Jersey devils were with Scott Stevens. News flash, the New Jersey Devils haven't been back since their team fell apart. Obviously, Brodeur, as good as he is, can't steal a whole season. Roy played on a great team when all of the players were in their prime. The Red Wings have lost everything that people said were keeping us at the top. Yet, here's Osgood, backstopping us to a fourth Stanley Cup in eleven years. So, punish Osgood for playing on a team with Nicklas Lidstrom. Punish him for always being in the right place at the right time. Punish him for making things look easy. In my mind, he's a Hall of Famer already & he's still playing hockey.

He's a big softy. Talk to me when he does something when it matters.
-
Pens are out of the playoffs right now.

Kostopolous clearly got his hands up around the head. Ovechkin's was a clean hit in a bad spot. The guy turned the wrong way. Part of me says he should still get a game, but the other part of me is saying that you can't suspend someone every time someone gets hurt.

Got the one on ATHDE. Had to reload it about 198116576461 times. Damn restrictions at work. Thanks guys.

I'm trying two streams right now & both are showing nothing. Should I be seeing pregame or no?
-
Agreed. I'd love to keep all three. But when this signing happened I was under the impression that it was a one year thing. I was already expecting Hossa to go after. I'd hate to lose Mule.
-
I've come to the conclusion that you're just out of your mind. Bottom line. They're both amazing players. I want to keep them both. I wouldn't have it any other way. If one of them is the captain & not the other, that's fine. I'd prefer Z because of the beard. But I just enjoy having them both on the team. The logo on front of the jersey is a hell of a lot more important than the letter. See what I did there?
-
Which they are. & I think Hank is a better shut down center overall. I understand Pavel won the Selke which is fine. But, like I said in my first post, aside from the takeaways, I'd give the edge to Hank defensively. & I'm telling you that the captain doesn't NEED to put up points because that's not a captain's role. & Yzerman is the best captain ever.
-
Fact is, I'm glad we're having this argument & not a "WHO THE HELL IS GOOD ENOUGH TO BE OUR CAPTAIN!" argument like Vancouver. OOOOOOOOOOO, I went there.
-
Okay, My post was clearly facetious, but I'll give in. I mentioned the series where Pavel couldn't walk & I didn't say anything about clutch, I said "will & determination". That's is an example of leading by example, not putting up points. I didn't compare Zetterberg to Yzerman. I contrasted Yzerman to Pavel. One of your arguments was that Pavel puts up the most points. I was stating that Yzerman did not always put up the most points & he was clearly the best captain EVAR! & you still have no rebuttal for the beard.
-
Zetterberg has a cooler beard. & aside from take aways, I'd actually give the defensive edge to Hank. Also, Most of Yzerman's years were not spent at the top of the points list on this team. It was his will & determination that got him the captaincy. & I'm not saying Pavel doesn't have it; the guy had an ocean in his knee & still played every playoff game a couple of years ago. But Hank has this 52nd gear that he puts it in when we're down or we need something big. Now, you wouldnt' understand that because you're not a real fan & don't watch him night in & night out... too soon? Pavel makes the guys around him better, sure. No arguments. He's the most skilled player I've ever seen in my life & he does stuff I dream of dreaming of. But Hank has a beard & a 52nd gear. I look into his gorgeous eyes &... Oh. Um... I look into his EYES when we're down & I can see he wants it more than anyone.

Zetterberg is Jesus. Zetterberg will be signed. & Kenny will TRY to sign all three. & I'm not getting my hopes up, but if anyone can do it, Kenny's that man. Now, I listened to the interview & I believe he used the words "we can sign 2 out of the 3 comfortably." Hey, I can live uncomfortably for a year. Kenny, make it happen.

What if youknowwho pulls a youknowwhat? (Fill in the blanks. I'd hate to jinks it.)
-
Touche.
-
I agree. Datsyuk is underrated. But Zetterberg is Jesus.
-
Hossa's playing great. He's a streaky player though. He's had his chances, he's just missing it by that much. His defensive play has been outstanding. once he puts another one in, he'll go 5 or 6 games with a goal or two each game. I wouldn't worry about him. 8-)

20% < Everyone 20% < Majority

Imagine the talks around the league if we put these guys down 5-1. Let's go boys! Get the puck, make it happen!
-
I'd kill him.

The Wings haven't been the Wings all season, they've still won games. Last nights refs were terrible. One word: Versus.
-
Refs boned us. I don't care what you say about how badly the Wings played. Lebda didn't cover the puck, he pushed it. Holmstrom gets raped, but it doesn't matter because it's Holmstrom. Dan Cleary clearly had his arm held on what could have been a breakaway. Hank was hit from behind onto the ice before the puck was anywhere near him. The hold on Franzen behind the net in their zone. These are legitimate calls these days that totally slipped by the refs head somehow; and yet they make s*** up when it comes to calling penalties on the Wings. Here's your ******* parity. Champs DON'T get the calls. Eat s*** Bettman. We got boned. We always get boned. Lay off our boys.

Win in regulation: 2 points Win after regulation: 1 point Lose: 0 points I don't understand why the loser is rewarded.
