Atlanta telecasters said it was the most passive penalty kill by Detroit that they have seen ALL year long from anyone. And allowed Atlanta easy entry into the zone and the rush in almost led to goal.

Ken Daniels talking about penalty kill on pre-game. Basically he is pointing to the bad faceoff win % on PK and Osgood is 38th in the league in save % during the PK and Howard is 55th.

Maybe because of what happened he is afraid to play aggressive and get in someone's face..... because peeps might start pointing fingers and say.... "See I told you so". Maybe that writer in Colorado went to a witch doctor and put a curse on him......LOL.... he certainly was relentless in hounding Bertuzzi. Bertuzzi is his own worst enemy and Detroit should have never signed him. Holland should have listened to the peeps on this forum and signed Travis Moen..... but NNNNOOOO...... Holland was counting goals and Bertuzzi had a higher number.

Tonight will be a good test. Atlanta is deadly on the PP. Maltby back in the lineup while Eaves sits. I really like Eaves and he is +6.... second on the team...... but Helm and him were on the two PP goals against in the last game. If Ericsson is going to be with Lidstrom, he needs to lay the body on any guys in front of the net. I agree with what someone said earlier..... the defensemen can not try to play like Lidstrom on the PK and stickhandle their way out of a jam...... they need to take the body.... play the body, not the puck. JSUT ONCE I would like to see someone get knocked on their keister in front of the net when the puck is there.

Excellent posts.... I think everything above pretty much covers it. Now can someone please print in out and send to Babcock and McCrimmon..... cause I don't think either one uses email...LOL... and something needs to be done because I don't know if any team who was last in the league in the PK ever made the playoffs. Perhaps someone can look that up. Of course, I don't expect the Wings to finish last in the PK and hopefully by season's end they will have the PK straightened out. I know we have about 3/4's of the season to go but losing these early points are not easy to make up the last month of the season because of the 3-point games.

Travis Moen.... 5 goals, 3 assists on lowly Montreal.... and he saw playing time on the top line. $1.5 mil/year for 3 years. And we had to get Bertuzzi. There were sssooo many peeps on this forum who wanted Holland to get Moen.... I guess they knew what they were talking about.

That sounds good to me... do SOMETHING... "Bowman never went this long with a dead line".... that's an understatement...LOL. It is hard enough to get two good players to mesh together..... but trying to force a mistake prone 3rd line player to mesh on the first line is just ridiculous.

If Bertuzzi is that bad playing with Datsyuk imagine what he would be like playing with less skilled players. Datsyuk and Zetterberg usually make the players playing on their line better. Sad.... really sad. Why couldn't have Bertuzzi been the one on LTIR instead of Franzen?????? I will tell you why..... because Bertuzzi doesn't play hard enough to get hurt.

Just been watching some games earlier this year and I couldn't believe how many times I heard "Bertuzzzi couldn't pull the trigger". Well, now it's about 15 games later and we are still hearing the same thing. Ken Daniels is probably getting tired of saying it so we probably will here it from the Versus announcers tomorrow... LOL Bertuzzi will just fiddle with the puck long enough to lose it because the defenders know he will turn it over if he doesn't get rid of the puck quickly.

Best treatment for 2nd degree sprain of the MCL is prolotherapy...... amazing results..... cuts treatment time in half. I know the Tiger players have used this treatment but don't know if the Wings use the same orthopedist. Not all orthopedic docs are even aware of the treatment. And a prolotherapist is not always an orthopedic doc.

MRI could also reveal damage inside the knee to the cruciate ligaments. So don't hold your breath. If the cruciates are also damaged could be up to 4-6 months or longer. It looked really bad to me as his leg was whipped around like a rubber band. Kronwall tore the ACL in the same knee a few years ago.

Wings better keep their sticks down cause you know penalties will be coming to the Wings. I think Kronwall is gone for the year...... knee on knee and his leg was whipped around like a rubber band..... ACL tear.

Maltby wouldn't be doing the scoring..... Obviously, Wings have Datsyuk for that. Maltby would be the one digging the puck out of the corner, skating well, beating other guys to the puck and passing it to Abby or Datysuk..... something Bertuzzi is having a problem with cause he is turning it over....... Bertuzzi committing too many turnovers . Everyone on a line has a role. Abby heads to the net. Goodness gracious.....again....... I am not talking about them being together for 12 minutes 5 on 5..... I am talking about two lousy minutes. AND if anyone remembers earlier this year Maltby was IN FACT on the first line in the third perios about 3-4 weeks ago.... when he was hot ..... playing with Datysuk.... I specifically remember that..... so there! LOL.

I am not talking about double-shifting Datsyuk ALL GAME LONG.... I am talking about double-shifting him at crucial times. Obviously, you pick your spots. The whole point as Babcock has stated he has NO INTENTION of changing the first line.... OK FINE..... To a point I agree, because obviously if you change the first line that means other lines that are currently doing well will be changed and I am not in favor of that. Wings have had a tough time finding a line that has been able to score and skate well together... offensively and defensively .....UNTIL DHE Express Line and Cleary-Z-Leino were put together. Even Datsyuk-Z-Homer line did not do well this year. So, if Babcock does NOT want to change the first line ..... then what does it hurt to play Datsyuk with Abby and Maltby or Abby and Miller for 2 extra minutes per game????? Datsyuk at times gets only 19 minutes. It seems that Z gets 21-22 minutes regularly. The point is that Datsyuk with Abby & Maltby/Miller will be a better skating line than Homer/Bertuzzi..... it wouldn't hurt and who says a line HAS to stay together ALL game long anyway?????

If Babcock wants to get Datsyuk going all he has to do is double-shift him. He can put Datsyuk out there with Homer and Bertuzzi but then after Z's or Helmer's line put Datsyuk out there again with Maltby and Abby. Not only will Datsyuk get going but you will see that Datsyuk with Abby and Maltby will be a much better skating line than Datsyuk with Homer and Bertuzzi. Good experiment anyway.... what is there to lose????

OK.... so I had to look up the stats.... and Bertuzzi is actually WORSE than I thought. At EVEN STRENGTH Bertuzzi has only 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points. That ranks him 10th best on the team. The following players are ahead of him in that regard (EVEN STRENGTH): Helm (tied) Kronwall Datsyuk Abdelkader (3 G) Draper Cleary Ericsson Homer Zetterberg Eaves and Lidstrom also have 5 EVEN STRENGTH points. Bertuzzi is a MINUS 5. Which means if he has 5 even strength points he was on the ice for 10 EVEN STRENGTH goals against. Obviously even strength points give you more information about a line than total points..... because that line is not necessarily the same line that is on the PP. I don't know about anyone else but I would NOT pay $1.5 mil for someone who scores 2 goals and who gives up 10 goals in the process. He clearly drags down any line he is on.... and I really didn't need to look up the stats to realize this.... you can just see it on the ice. Maybe some people are not watching the game in HD....LOL. I recommend you get HD..... and you will see the difference for yourself.... on second thought ..... maybe you shouldn't get HD cause then you will realize how bad Bertuzzi is.... LOL... Helm, Abby, Ericsson and Eaves are paid less than Bertuzzi and they are ALL better checkers, grinders, skaters and puck retrievers than he is. Helm, Datsyuk, Abby, Draper, Ericsson and Eaves also have played less games and have less ice time than Bertuzzi. And btw Bertuzzi is 5th on the team with 16 giveaways and 11 players have blocked more shot than he has. And peeps think that $1.5 mil for Bertuzzi was a deal..... get real!

Holland was more concerned with COUNTING GOALS he lost in the off-season and trying to replace the lost goals rather than getting a quality player. So he was looking at Bertuzzi's and William's goal total not their overall performance and skating ability. What good is scoring 20 goals when your line gives up 20 goals in the process?

Wngs have no choice but to stand pat..... who in the heck would want to trade for Bertuzzi and Williams.... at $1.5 mil each you probably couldn't find a team to take on either one. The only choice they have is to put Bertuzzi and Williams on the same line with Filppula...... 3rd line. And since Filppula doesn't shoot but Williams does maybe they will click if Bertuzzi goes to the net..... but that probably won't happen until Franzen comes back.

For $1.5 million I would rather have Travis Moen or Manny Malhotra..... there were a lot of decent players available and ANY of them would have jumped at the chance to come Detroit and I was so pissed that Holland went after HAS-BEENS whose careers are declining rapidly. Malhotra was the first star of the game tonight for the Sharks btw..... LOL... It was a good game. Holland went after Williams and Bertuzzi based on PAST performances..... bad move. And Holland traded Williams once before because of his pathetic skating ...... so exactly what did he expect to change this time?????

The point of trying Abby with Maltby for a few shifts is so that Z's and Helmer's lines ARE NOT broken up. Who said anything about breaking up the DHE EXPRESS line? I was the one who actually talked about putting that line together BEFORE the start of the season.... you can search my posts and you will see. At the time I said it would be the fastest line in the league...... and as it turns out it may be very true. I love good skating lines. And the first line as it is now is NOT a good skating line. Same with Williams.... horrible skater.... and the second line did much better once Williams went down ..... why???? Because they are skating much better. Bowman wouldn't keep the same line together all game long anyway..... Babcock use to mix lines up his first few years also.... and this year he hasn't done much of in-game line mixing as in his first two years. Bowman was the best at it. With regard to points.... That's why I said you could call them any line number you want...... As far as I am concerned Z's line is the top line and Helm's line is the second line. Datsyuk gets a LOT of playing time on the PK and PP...... so I am talking about the five on five playing time. Stats are useless because of the power play points and power play shots that are included.... Bertuzzi plays on the PP and has "benefitted" in the point category because of that. When you consider 5 on 5 play ONLY the first line just absolutely stinks. What is wrong with putting Datsyuk with Abby and Maltby 5 on 5????? Does it hurt to try it????? I would take a hard skating player like Helm over Bertuzzi anyday! Why were the Wings able to sign Bertuzzi so easily for a "paltry" $1.5 mil??? Because there certainly weren't very many teams after him..... not any of the smart ones anyway....LOL. Bertuzzi also saw it as an opportunity to resurrect his declining career..... which will go downhill even faster after this year....LOL> Before the singing of Bertuzzi many many fans on this forum were wanting the Wings to get Travis Moen or Manny Malhotra...... could have had either for $1.5 mil and either would have jumped at the chance to come to Detroit......
