Yeh.... especially when the new "let them play" rule all of sudden changes in the third period of a tie game and the Wings get an otherwise "let-it-go" obstruction penalty. What a joke..... that's why we all hate Buttman... just no consistency..... although I have to say that Buttman CONSISTENTLY dishes the Wings.

There are about 20 types of tremors...... It could be what is called benign essential tremors (basically unknown cause) or even early signs of Parkinson's Disease. I noticed it a few year ago and hasn't progressed that rapidly.... yet anyway....
-
Buttman looks really depressed in the second and third picture...... wingsdiehard13.......Could you do another one with the caption using the other photos??????

If Lidstrom and Draper retire their salaries STILL count against the cap because the contracts were signed over the age of 35. If they retire it would be a disaster for the cap. They would be better off being on INJURED RESERVE..... especially if Lidstrom will have elbow surgery. There is very little flexibility in terms of contracts on the team..... signing Hossa even for a 5.3 mil cap hit would definitely alter the makeup of the team and we would lose a lot of the depth. It is not going to happen.

This is what I think the roster will look like next year. And if Sammy or Hudler do not take a home town discount then Leino will be in. Total is 57.55 million. Cap may go up about $1 mil. 12 forwards, 8 defencemen (with Meech as your 2-way player), 2 goalies. Hudler, Jiri $1,800,000 Datsyuk, Pavel $6,700,000 Darren Helm $599,444 Cleary, Dan $2,800,000 Zetterberg, Henrik $6,080,000 Holmstrom, Tomas $2,250,000 Draper, Kris $1,583,333 Abdelkader, Justin $740,000 Maltby, Kirk $883,333 Franzen, Johan $3,950,000 Samuelsson, Mikael $1,550,000 Filppula, Val $3,000,000 Lidstrom, Nicklas $7,450,000 Rafalski, Brian $6,000,000 Stuart, Brad $3,750,000 Kronwall, Niklas $3,000,000 Ericsson, J $900,000 Lilja, Andreas $1,250,000 Meech, Derek $483,333 Lebda, Brett $650,000 Osgood, Chris $1,416,667 Howard,Jimmy $716,667

I also forgot to mention that Lilja would also have to traded in my examples. So you are losing Hudler, Sammy, Lilja and another 3 million salary player just to keep Hossa.... ain't never gonna happen unless the cap goes up at least 2 mil.
-
This is exactly why I am saying the Wings will not resign Hossa. They have to dump 3 million in salary to do so. I stated in a previous post the Wings do not want to part with Filppula. There is no other 3 million or more salary that can or will be traded. Kronwall is going nowhere. Rafalski has a NTC. Draper can't retire because his salary would still count against the cap. Stuart has a NTC I believe and won't be going anywhere either. Homer is not ready to retire and the Wings won't trade him. The team would have to be seriously altered to sign Hossa. It is easier to replace Hossa than to replace 3 or 4 or 5 other players. Without Hossa, Hudler and Sammy can be resigned.
-
I wish people would add the numbers before making a comment. Does anyone know how to add!!!!! To keep Filppula, Hossa's cap number has to be 3 million.... get real: This total is 56.7777 million: Hossa, Marian $3,000,000 Datsyuk, Pavel $6,700,000 Darren Helm $599,444 Cleary, Dan $2,800,000 Zetterberg, Henrik $6,080,000 Holmstrom, Tomas $2,250,000 Draper, Kris $1,583,333 Abdelkader $740,000 Leino, V RFA -have to resign $875,000 Franzen, Johan $3,950,000 Maltby, Kirk $833,333 Filppula $3,000,000 Lidstrom, Nicklas $7,450,000 Rafalski, Brian $6,000,000 Stuart, Brad $3,750,000 Kronwall, Niklas $3,000,000 Ericsson, J $900,000 Lebda, Brett $650,000 Meech, Derek $483,333 Osgood, Chris $1,416,667 Howard,Jimmy $716,667

The Wings depth will not be the same if they sign Hossa. The Wings WILL have to trade Filppula, not sign Hudler or Sammy and resign Leino for the SAME amount and resign Kopecky for the same amount. Hossa's cap number will have to be $5.4 mil if the cap remains the same. If the cap goes up a little then Hossa's cap number can go up or Leino may want more. To get a cap as low as 5.4 mil then you are talking about a 11-12 year contract. If the cap goes down then you are talking about trading away another player. I just don't think the Wings are ready to trade away Filppula. Between NTC's and contracts signed over the age of 35 the Wings do not have that much flexibility. The total for the example below is about 56.7 million..... the same as this year. 12 Forwards, 7 defencemen and 2 goalies: Hossa, Marian $5,400,000 Datsyuk, Pavel $6,700,000 Darren Helm $599,444 Cleary, Dan $2,800,000 Zetterberg, Henrik $6,080,000 Holmstrom, Tomas $2,250,000 Draper, Kris $1,583,333 Abdelkader $740,000 Leino, V RFA -have to resign $875,000 Franzen, Johan $3,950,000 Maltby, Kirk $833,333 Kopecky, Tomas - have to resign $525,000 Lidstrom, Nicklas $7,450,000 Rafalski, Brian $6,000,000 Stuart, Brad $3,750,000 Kronwall, Niklas $3,000,000 Ericsson, J $900,000 Lebda, Brett $650,000 Meech, Derek $483,333 Osgood, Chris $1,416,667 Howard,Jimmy $716,667

All we ask for is consistency..... just don't change the rules from one game to the next or from one period to the next or from one minute to the next... or call more penalties because they are now playing in the Pitts. This is the only sport that changes the rules whenever they feel like it...... unbelievable. Shouldn't have to say "we are going to call a tighter game" or "we are going to let them play"...... what kind of crap is that!
-
It is so comical to listen to this ding-dong. The whole game he spent looking for any little indiscretion the Wings committed so the Pitts could get a power play. Does he have to make it so obvious who he is rooting for??? I thought analyst were suppose to be impartial. Yeh.... he was head coach for 2 years for the Pitts and played for them for 2 years in the 90's.... so maybe he shouldn't be the analyst. Unlike Larry Murphy..... who I think is great.... tries to be very impartial.
-
Please bring back Gary Thorne and Bill Clement!
-
I would rather have depth than one star player..... as proven by these playoff games. It is easier to replace just one player than 3 or 4. I love Hossa.... but I have to say "Here is your ring and thank you for your services, but we have to say goodbye." So if Datsyuk was playing right now instead of Hossa the result would be the same or maybe even better.
-
I just want Pav healthy before he returns so he doesn't aggravate the injury. I think the Wings can afford to keep him out one more game.
-
Queen-ville has won 9 playoff series in 10 playoff years....... that includes the 2 series wins this year..... that doesn't sound very good to me... He has never got past the conference finals. AND he NEVER will get past the Wings. Dude better move to the Eastern conference with the rest of the flunkies. I'll bet Bowman gets rid of him.
-
Queenville is an idiot.... He doesn't belong in the playoffs and history has already proven that. He is looking for excuses for his own playoff coaching inadequacies.
-
At this point I am glad the music is the only thing we have to complain about......LOL...

From MLIVE: Wings crowd the net I know I am jumping the gun but if the Sharks make a comeback I will be surprised. At any rate.... if the Wings are to beat Hiller they will have to live around the net..... shoot for rebounds and bury the rebounds. Hiller is on fire and we all know that when a goalie gets hot he can go far into the playoffs. :!:
-
Good article by Ansar: Scoring at a premium How many center ice hits will Kronwall and Stuart have??? They could be game changers!!!
-
Hiller was the Sharks/Ducks series superstar!!! The goalie is the best penalty killer so don't be depending on the Wings power play to bury the Ducks. It just may be the Ducks power play that gives Detroit some trouble. Don't tell me there is no such thing as a HOT GOALIE!

Anyone else notice Mickey Redmond's random quote last night?
Icesurfer replied to DuckSoup13's topic in General
Redmond is the best! He definitely taught Ken Daniels a thing or two about not being so serious!
