Will you discontinue paid NHL viewing for next year?
Icesurfer replied to Icesurfer's topic in General
Need to change your vote to YES. Yes, means you are discontinuing your services. I realized after I worded it that way it way cause some confusion. -
Will someone please tell me why is it that there ALWAYS has to be BLAME?????? Isn't it just quite possible that the reason is because the other team is better????? WOW.... what a novel concept!!! Human nature.... always have to blame! Get over it people! Go ahead keep posting your blaming......

When you have no idea what to expect from the officiating from one game to the next something is seriously wrong!!! This is the current state of hockey. It is very sad. Other sports have intelligent enough people in control who make changes, improve the integrity of the sport and appease the fans. But hockey is full of morons in control who only care about selling tickets and not improving the integrity of the game. The only way fans can fight back is to stop supporting this nonsense. I, for one, will cancel my DirecTV package that includes Versus and cancel my NHL Center Ice subscription for next year. And when the NHL decides to improve the integrity of the game I will return. It can be something as simple as reviewing the penalties. An average game has about 6 penalties. With today's TV technology and with having a ref in the booth penalties can be reviewed in less than a minute. It is worth spending an extra 6 minutes watching a game if it is judge fairly and evenly. It would eliminate ALL this nonsense.

Out of the Calder Finalist and the Vezina candidates Howie is the only one left standing after the first round!!! Just goes to show you how much the so-called "experts" know. LOL. Myers (D-man playing the most minutes) and Miller could NOT shut down an injured weak scoring Boston team. Boston was second to the last in scoring in the NHL. HA! Shame, shame! LOL. Howie took on Cindy, took on Shane Doan (nice check) and bested Bryzgalov!

Sutherland was the referee who made the BUTT call on Homer.... He's Buttman's butt man. BUTT CALL Sutherland tried to f@ck with the Wings tonight but the Wings would have none of that crap. Too bad Sutherland, you won't be collecting your bonus from Buttman.
-
Abby should be moved up to the third line with Cleary and Miller. And Helm rejoined with Draper and Eaves to make up the fourth line. Helm was minus 3 and Doan likes to pick on him.
-
So we all know by now that Buttman is trying to save the Phoenix franchise. And we all know that the Red Wing-Phoenix matchup will bring a ton of money into Phoenix and the franchise. So how far will Buttman and his cronies go to try to fix the games so it goes 7 full games? We know that Phoenix does not score a ton of goals as they have relied on the shootout to put them where they are. So we just may see a lot of bad penalty calls and power plays for the Coyotes. IMHO, if we see Screw-You-LaRue, Way-To-Go-Leggo, Me-An-Ian-Walsh, Blunder-Land-Sutherland, Marc-Joanie-Cronie and Sad-Brad-Watson as the refs, especially at Jobing.com Arena, I think I would be highly suspicious.

I started this thread and I have to say that I do not believe in conspiracy theories. I had no intention of making it a conspiracy either. This was solely based on the fact that there is a huge conflict on interest due to the fact that the NHL own the Phoenix Coyotes and stands to gain by having Phoenix go as far as possible in the playoffs. It is not a conspiracy against the Wings. IT IS ABOUT A NATURAL HUMAN TENDENCY TO "FAVOR YOU OWN" OR "PROTECT YOUR OWN" .... CONSCIOUSLY OR UNCONSCIOUSLY.... DOESN'T MATTER. The NHL owns the Phoenix Coyotes. The NHL pays the refs. NHL will benefit from the Coyotes going as far in the playoffs as possible in more ways than one. Refs want to please their boss just like any other employee.... so the Refs will try to avoid making mistakes. So if there is any question as to what may have happened on a play they will always error on the side that helps them keep their job. It is not about a conspiracy.... it is about a natural human response.... which I think everyone should be able to understand. Bottom line... it is a conflict of interest.... plain and simple..... no conspiracy. The title to this thread was used simply to draw your attention.... and it certainly worked! Both theorist and non-theorist... LOL. As a side note it just astounds me that people justify the blatant errors by the refs by saying that the Wings deserved to lose the game because they were out-played for some part of the game. I'm sorry but that is just plain b@llsh!t. First of all, how many times did the Wings win a game since the Olympic break where they were out-played for some part of the game? PLENTY! The best teams, including the Stanley Cup Champs, always find a way to win a game even when they are out-played!! We have already seen it in other first games of this first round. Secondly, I don't remember too may Stanley Cup Champs who out-played their opponents for 60 minutes in all 16 wins. Lucky bounces, deflections and turnovers are a huge part of the game.... for and against. Third, Lidstrom is probably the MOST professional even-tempered player on the ice. And for him to speak out you know something was seriously wrong. When was the last time Lidstrom spoke out like that when someone took a penalty (non-penalty) against him??? I mean even a testicular spear didn't rile him!
-
All eyes were also on the faceoff on the winning goal. And Doan CLEARLY obstructed Helm, who is a great shot blocker and was heading to the front of the net and would have challenged the Morris blast. They never seem to miss those obstruction calls on the faceoffs, but they missed this one.
-
The refs told Lidstrom they thought it was Filppula's stick. Lidstrom said Filppula wasn't even close. Lidstrom said "They would have been better off telling me they missed it." Obviously someone is lying..... and it AIN'T Lidstrom!!!!! I'm sorry, but this is a crock of sh!t. It most likely would have been a game changing play. 1:20 of 5 on 3 plus 2:40 of additional 5 on 4. And Shane Doan clearly obstructed Helm on the game winning goal..... If they were suppose to be calling things close how the hell do you miss those two plays????? Add Marc Joanie to the list of cronies! You will just absolutely want to puke when you see the replay of it. And the linesman was standing there looking right at it. Missed Lidstrom double minor
-
yep..... 4 minute no-call on hit to Lidstrom's face... I would have liked to see the elbowing by Kronwall... versus showed no replay of that.

Cleary-Helm-Eaves It will be the best third line in the playoffs. Cleary got a ton of goals in the playoffs last year. Speed with scoring.... LOVE IT!

The Stats are now final! It was an exciting year for Wings fans this year to have a Calder candidate for a change and to cheer him on. Because of the Wings drafting position over the past 15 years or so, the Wings don't get flashy players but they get real good solid team players. Let's hope it is not too long before the Wings have another Calder candidate. Congratulations Howie! You have performed better than anyone probably had expected and your future is bright! It was a good race with certainly some surprises and hopefully next year will be just as exciting!
-
VERY GOOD POINT!!!! I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT!!!!!
-
And based on previous playoffs I am sure this had crossed the minds of many Wings fans. And it crossed my mind mostly because everyone knows the NHL is trying to save the Phoenix franchise and everyone knows how a Wings series can resurrect a team.... especially if they happen to beat the almighty Wings!
-
They are not necessarily Wings forums.... they are general hockey forums..
-
We all know that refs have a way of evening things out. And in that regard I think it is unlikely for the Wings to sweep in four games considering the aforementioned benefits to the Coyotes. Get real......this is NOT the only Wings forum..... there are many forums and a few that I read have already talked about it!
-
Refs can read too!.... I think..... LOL. Doesn't hurt to put some ideas in someones head!
-
All I am doing is ANTICIPATING and just trying to make it a FAIR series!!!!!! After the fact ...... it is TOO LATE!!!!
-
And I will bet there was NOT one person on this board last year who was NOT upset with this call last year. That Duck series last year, IMHO, cost the Wings the cup because it was long, exhausting and injury causing: STORY: "Detroit-Anaheim: Red Wings Robbed" Zac Herr by Zac Herr Contributor Written on May 06, 2009 ANAHEIM, CA - MAY 05: Goaltender Jonas Hiller #1 and James Wisniewski #34 of the Anaheim Ducks defend the goals against Tomas Holmstrom #96 of the Detroit Red Wings during Game Three of the Western Conference Semifinal Round of the 2009 Stanley Cup Playoffs at the Honda Center on May 5, 2009 in Anaheim, California. (Photo by Kevork Djansezianl/Getty Images) (Photo by Kevork Djansezianl/Getty Images) As I wrote in my last article, I want to see the playoffs called more evenly. The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't the only ones that have lost out because of the bad refereeing throughout the playoffs. Now the reigning Stanley Cup Champs are being subjected to bad calls. In Game Three of the Detroit-Anaheim series, the Wings were burned several times by bad calls. Not only did the refs miss obvious penalties on Tomas Holmstrom, but they disallowed a great—potentially game-tying—goal by Marian Hossa with just over one minute to play. The missed calls on Holmstrom don't make me that angry. I know that he works in front of the goalie, and that the refs will try to protect the goalie as much as possible. But the calls they missed are so obvious that someone sitting in the nosebleeds could have called them. Just look at the picture where Holmstrom is being cross-checked in front of the goal and you'll understand why. But the most aggravating call of the night was the disallowing of Hossa's goal. The ref made a bad mistake by blowing the whistle early—and he was halfway down the ice! Many times refs let plays go that should have been blown dead 10 seconds earlier to prevent such mistakes. The NHL needs to do something about the bad referees this year. Maybe send them back to ref school so they know how to call a game. Maybe we need new referees. The only thing that I know for sure is that the refs have blown two obvious calls—two days in a row—and have hurt teams because of it." Sometime you need to look ahead!
