Here's what I'm thinking, Hossa can sign a league minimum deal with the understanding that all members of Red Wing nation must pass the hat and donate the proceeds to the Keep Hossa in Detroit Foundation. There has to be at least 10 million of us, if we all throw a buck or two in we'll have a decent chunk of change. Said foundation then donates the money to Hossa's dog or cat, then none of us have to live in a world in which Hossa plays for another team.

. Dude Z had 2 points and 9 SOG, you have to work pretty hard to get 9 SOG. Hudler had a really good game as well. Kronwall didn't look that great, made some mistakes that you know he knows better. I swear to god something is going on with the 5 on 3's for the team thats down. I watch a ton of games and its gotten to the point where you can see it coming. At the very least something was said to the officials, in the past if you were on the PK you had to murder a guy to get another penalty. Now they seem to call nearly anything. Hockey is a difficult game to officiate but if a significant number of fans start to feel like officiating is determining the outcome of these games the NHL has a problem.

In certain situations the color alone can be infringement, for example if a shipping company used FedEx's blue and orange colors. This is way oversimplified but if you can prove it causes customer confusion its infringement.

Motivation is the key, they have to want to do the hard work and right now they simply don't want to. Babcock doesn't have a whole lot he can do because of the cap concerns and the type of players currently on the team. I think bringing Helm, Leino or Ericksson up may provide a spark in terms of the level of effort they will put in but the cap really only makes Helm a possibility. Like Ron Wilson I like the idea of scratching a guy for a day when the need a good kick in the pants, the problem is I don't know if guys like Maltby, Rafi and Stuart would really respond to it.

Theo has a book out that is supposed to be pretty interesting.

He is switching sticks from CCM to Bauer, which to me says he's in one of those mental slumps, starts to think to much about it and things stop coming.

Center Ice was down in my neck of the woods so I didn't get to see the game, it sounds like they had a much better performance all things considered. What is with the week off ? Just enough time for them to get a little rusty...

I love how they kept referring to the grind line as our energy line......they could have been faster in Jazzy Chairs. McCarty needs to be sent down for Downey, skill level aside Downey wants play. I'm sure this has flummoxed Babcock to some degree, I don't think scratching guys is going to get the job done. This team needs to find its motivation and right now they have none.

There has got to be something were missing, it seems clear to me that this team needs some spark. Downey can help provide that spark and I don't see how he could be worse the D-mac. Don't understand the hesitation in bringing him up.

Thrashers' Bogosian suffers broken leg; out indefinitely
Johnny Law replied to The Mule's topic in General
Poor kid, he didn't always look great but he had his moments. Looked like a kid that was going to become a pretty good D man with time. Hope he heals quickly. -
Hahaha.......talk about Negative Nancy. Do you cheer for bad landings at the airport ? 3-2 Wings

Totally agree, I watch a butt ton of games on Center Ice and the 5 on 3 thing is league wide. I'm not a tinfoil hat guy and the Wings earned those penalties last night but it does seem like something was said to the refs. Penalties in hockey are like holding in football...it happens every play.
-
Hahaha I agree, I think any GM in the league would be ecstatic to commit such a "blunder"

The refs didn't change the outcome of this game the Wings did. Most of those calls had to be made, its hockey 101 to know that you need to be on your best behavior when you already have a guy in the box. The loss isn't a big deal, what's a big deal to me is the way in which the Wings are playing right now. Stupid mental mistakes, Z's interference, Lilja hit to the head, Kronwall and Sammy's play in general. Lidstrom's pass in the first period that got picked by Niedemeyer is a perfect example, with speed that pass goes through or at the worst rolls over Niedemeyer's stick. instead Lidstrom sends it slow and its picked, nothing happened on that particular play but its indicative of team that is playing right now on autopilot. Anyone who has played sports knows that overwhelming talent and firepower can lead to a seriously lackadaisical effort, when you win after such an effort the whole thing is only further reinforced. I think bringing up a guy like Helm who is super high energy would help the team finds its motivation.

They can apply the LTIR retroactively so I imagine they will decide after the SJ game what they want to do.

Have you ever been here ? Have you ever attended any sporting events in Philadelphia ? The fact of the matter is that the whole Philly fan bs is way over blown. Are there some big idiots ? Sure just like every other group of sports fans, they do stupid things and certainly deserve whatever punishment they receive. That said I guarantee you there are few cities with a fan base as loyal and as diehard. My dad was from Michigan so I'm not a Philly fan but I respect Philly fans for their love of their teams and unending support. I went to last years Eagles-Bears game in full Bears regalia when the Bears pulled out a last second win with no problems, I watched the Bulls man handle the Sixers with no issues, I watched the Cubs....well the Cubs don't win alot. When I was much younger my Mom would take me down to the Spectrum when the Wings would come into town. We didn't have the money for two good seats so my mom would sit in the upper deck while I sat down along the glass, die hard Flyers fans always watched over me and were nothing but nice. I have experienced 20+ years of Philly fans and have taken home no bad memories, mock if you must be realize that you do so out of ignorance.

They were heavy, like really heavy, that's all I remember of them. Once in a while I still run across someone who has converted them to roller hockey skates. As a kid I would have died for a pair of all red cooper 4 rolls.

I spell poorly too so I feel you on that. That said if you played at such a high level I think you would agree with me that you go through short periods of time where things just aren't working like they should. You make mistakes that you know are mistakes as soon as you do it but they happen anyway, things bounce funny or you start over thinking things. It happens to everyone, except Lilja we all know he is Jesus reincarnated. Rafalski is a highly skilled player who like some of the Wings is on a bit of a bad stretch. He will come around just like Lidstrom will, you don't dump players after 6 games.

There was a time period where stuff was labled just Nike, then came NikeBauer, after this season it will just be Bauer again. Tons of guys use Bauer equip.
-
I always thought it's because they know that at some point its going to go the other way and they will be in the middle of a cold streak. Regardless of talent pucks are going to bounce the wrong way sometimes, a not to high not to low approach.
-
Its understandable to be angry, no one likes the feeling that the refs decided the outcome. That said if I had to be mad at someone I would be mad at the three defenders who let Datsyuk move through them and set up the GWG.

I watched him in some Jokerit games and thought he was unbelievable, so I was very excited when he ended up with the Wings. In one game during a shootout I think he had some kind of wicked fake shot deke, unlike the normal fake shot this occured at game speed. Goalie never had a chance. I hope he gets his chance because the wings system and style of play would fit him perfectly, I think paring him with Fillp could be incredible. EDIT: found a video (about 8 seconds in)
