total bull s*** but go ahead and bring up Santa and all that bs even though most people actually know nothing about that whole deal. If your ever in the area hit me up and I'll send you some Flyers tickets, rest assured you'll come home with a much different opinion. This however, is true, 50% of the place is undateable by anyone.

Philadelphia is a great hockey town, light years better then DC. Lots of knowledgeable fans that support their team through thick and thin. Support for hockey from the professional level to beer leagues is pretty impressive, in a 25 mile radius I know of more than 30 rinks each with youth and adult leagues. There are alot of people playing hockey in the Philly area. The ECHL team in Reading is always one of the leagues attendance leaders even when the team is the suck. Hershey is probably the most successful minor league team in the AHL, their stadium seats 15,000 and they do fill it on some nights. http://blog.pennlive.com/fanbox/2009/03/be...o_break_ho.html The whole philly fan thing is way overplayed. I've gone to lots of flyers, eagles and phillies games and for the vast majority of the time they are respectful and pleasant. Even after my beloved bears drove the ball 97 yards in minute to beat the Eagles, nothing was said, no one gave me a hard time. I'm normally not a fan of bolder type moves but I'd love to see Larsson back up Ozzie.

I play year round both ice and roller, I played in college (Penn State) and will probably continue to play until I'm too old and slow. I've gotten a touch slower over the years but I feel like the increased hockey smarts more than makes up for it. I cringe at the thought of what my weight would be without hockey and such, I'm 180 but I eat like I should be 300.

The swedes use the torpedo system which is kinda a reverse flying V...

This sucks, hopefully they can pick a replacement up in FA, I know people are really high on Abdelkader right now but that dude needs more time in GR. What is weird to me is that he wouldn't want to play with the best players in the world, don't get me wrong the KHL has some talent but nothing like the NHL.
-
Sad to see him go but it wasn't going to work here. Sucks he ended up with the Hawks but they are royaly screwed when these guys all come due. I still think it was better that we let him walk.
-
I did not as we don't know what will happen with him. Good to see the cap is staying in 56 ballpark, earlier this year people were talking about 2 to 3 million dollar cuts which would have made things very difficult.
-
Well then it better go up by 3 million because your 2.9 over the cap with Leino making .875 and Hossa 4mil. Cap increase alone isn't solving our problems.
-
Before the season starts you can send a 1 way contract player to the minors without exposing them to entry waivers. Does anyone know if this persons cap hit would still count against the salary cap ? The reason I ask is I can see a situation for lots of teams in which you would want to hide salaries (Briere) in the AHL.
-
I posted the question mostly as a hypothetical and like I said they had talked about it alot on Hockey Night in Canada radio. The reason I picked Briere was because for the 10-11 season the Flyers have something like 50 million tied up in 12 or 13 players. The current cap is 56.7 and all indications are that it isn't going up anytime soon. Its not impossible to sign 7 or 8 guys for 9 million or so but it certainly isn't something a team would like to do. The Philadelphia (where I live) media had reported that 3 teams turned the Flyers down outright on even discussing a Briere trade. Its highly unlikely but I could see where they would want to keep young talent and have no real options in terms of moving him. I have to imagine the Flyers and other similarly situated teams will work their way out of this but I wanted to know if it is even possible. My guess is that with the way teams trade and the lack of increases in the salary cap some team is going to decide that if they can't trade a guy and he won't retire they are just going to send him down to the AHL, if he gets picked up on waivers that sucks but what else are you going to do. Obviously that leaves room for the possibility of a million dollar veteran playing in the AHL. Article 13 covers waivers and the exemption rules are somewhat complicated hence me not remembering what was real and what was NHL 09.
