A healthy Mike Green is worth this contract just like a healthy Ryan Suter is worth his. The problem is injuries happen.

Maybe we should get Kenny Holland to throw the pads on then we can blame him for all of our problems. A great defense can make an average goalie look great ( Mike Smith ) The Red Wings have gotton away with using average goalies for years because they had one of the best defense in the league. Ozzy, Vernon, Hasek, and now Jimmy are all or were average goalies while with the Wings. The problem is that now that our defense does not look so good I can bet our GA is going to go up by a bunch. Does this make it the goalie's fault? You get what you pay for.

There is no goalie in the NHL or anywhere that can win a series if you can't score them a few goals. If you want to hang our first round exit on somebody then you need to look at the forwards first. Was Jimmy lights out? nope. But he was good enough.

I think Nash would be a great addition for the Wings even though it would cost us Flip. Nash is crazy good and he has never had a chance to play with anyone really decent in CBJ. I would rather see Mule go but I think Flip is more valuable at this time. With Z and Pav getting older we are going to need a high scoring winger. Let Z or Pav set him up all day.

In all fairness, he tried to. Ken Holland is not smart because he knew better then to sign Parise and Suter to a long huge contract. He lost out because they wanted to play in Minny. He tried and failed remember that.

I agree. That is not a playoff team. Add in an injury or two along the way and that team could be in big trouble. I am starting to panic a bit but if this is the team that Ken Holland is "happy with" to start the season then perhaps he should go.

I vote Nash and Doan

I wouldn't trade Z or Pav but it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they shopped Mule and Fil to see what the offers might be.

I get what your saying. With signing older players there is risk. I would offer him a three year contract at 5m per. I would rather that then Semin at 5m per because at least with Doan you know what your getting. Short contracts for each of these players is the only way to sign them.

I do agree that he would make the Wings a lot better. If Ken Holland signs either Doan or Semin that has to mean that we are going to see some people leave via trade. Cleary, Emmy, Mursack, and Eaves could be on their way out and maybe even Abby as well.

If Doan leaves his Yotes, it will be for a team that he thinks can win him a cup in the next two-three years. Do you honestly believe that from an outsiders point of view that Detroit looks that good compared to other teams that he could sign with?

I think that your right Datsyuk and Semin would be great together. I do think that Semin should be signed for a one year 6m contract with the idea that let him earn his next big contract from us. His history as a bit of a slacker cannot be ignored. Maybe Pav has told Kenny to stay away???? We will never know for sure.

The owners and players are going to handcuff themselves yet with these huge contracts. I for one think that the league should reject all contracts over 5 years. Players would then have to earn their paychecks based on performance not by ufa class. The owners would also have to use their heads when signing contracts. Suter and Parise are not worth anywhere near the money they got. Crosby signed a long term when one more hit could end his career. Players are greedy and the owners are stupid. have we really gone anywhere since the last lockout?

I can see them taking their sweet time making the decision of a lifetime but you would think they could cull the herd a bit by this point. People keep saying that they have had only a couple of days to decide and thats BS both knew they were going to be a FA and that they would be able to pick their team. 80m or 100m does it mean anything at that point? Nope. Its about family and where do you want to play.

I think that the Wings are waiting more on Suter then Parise. That being said, I think Parise will be a Devil. The Wings will look very hard at Semin. Jagr is wanting 4m i think thats a bit high

What makes you so sure that Cleary will come off the books? Ken Holland will resign him because that is what he does.

Yep just confirmed it. He meant that the contract would be hard to move. But I am not sure about that with todays values

Does Franzen's contract have a NTC in it anywhere? I mentioned trading Franzen on twitter and was told that the Wings can't move that contract....

I want to understand this signing but I can't help but think that there had to be someone else that would have been younger and on their way up not out. Ken Holland let us down with this signing. Not a shot at Sammy just really hate the contract. This is a I got nothing type of move.

Tootoo will change a lot of minds when he hits everything that moves on his first shift. I watched him play junior with the Brandon Wheat Kings. He was the fan favorite not because he was dirty, it was because of his work ethic. He is the type of player that will thrive if the fans get behind him. If he is a buddy of Helms then how bad can he be? Just wait.

I have to think that there is a deal coming. No way does Holland sign Tootoo and Sammy and feel he has done his job. I think a big roster change is coming. Is Abby out?
