Goes both ways, Philly probably had lots of their AHL players too and they put 5 in our starter. I know it's preseason and I know it's only one game but for heaven's sakes 3 of them off of their AHL players: Pyorala, van Riemsdyk (2).
-
At this rate ... 09-10 is going to be a very long and painful season.
-
Has any goalie ever been pulled from a preseason because he was doing so bad?
-
How the hell can you be down 2-1 when you are outshooting the other team by 2-1 SOG?

Devellano says Wings close to signing Bertuzzi
RedWingsRox replied to WingMachine91's topic in General
Oh God ... NO!!! We don't need him and I don't want him. Seriously, can we put together a petition or something. Fact, he has been dumped by team after team ... Vancouver, Florida, Anaheim, and now Calgary. They can't all be wrong. Holland, please come back from your vacation now and put a stop to this madness. -
Just heard on the radio ... I think it was 10 years for 40 mill. Update - here is linky: Sportsnet - Hossa turns down offer from Wings
-
Quick ... trade his rights.
-
I'm from Vancouver. Team 1040 am, our sports radio and they are usually pretty bang on. Here you go ... linky to sportsnet.ca Sportsnet - Hossa turns down offer from Wings

Here is how the Examiner explained the contract. What are the Red Wings really offering Hossa - Examiner Let's assume the average is somewhere in the middle of what has been reported and is worth $4.5-million per year on a 10-year deal. The contract will be front loaded, and let's again speculate, and assume that $36-million is due in the first six years and the remainder is due over the final four years. In six years time Hossa will be 36 years old, and keeping in mind he has had major surgery on his knee and wears a brace on both knees, nearing the end of his career. The Wings could buy him out of the four remaining years at a cost of $5,940,000 and spread that cost across eight years for a cap hit of $742,500. Hossa will receive $41,940,000 over the six year period for an average salary of nearly $7-million.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
RedWingsRox replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Just heard that Hossa turned down Wings offer for 10 years at 40 mill. -
Only if he accepts $1m/yr. Why not, remember Burke's quote, 'He's got $1 less than God.' ... And he made more $$ last year for doing squat. Do a league minimum, didn't someone on Avalanche played for like $1 mill/yr for a chance to wind the Cup. Maybe he can be inspiration for all the other Swedes to win one for him.

I've never liked his blogging before ... now I hate him and will not read anything that punk writes. Get a real job instead of being an overpaid blogger.
-
Still a bit nauseous ... especially when those waddling bird/mammals are talking about a repeat
-
Trade ... negotiating rights to Hossa?
-
I agree. Hossa can shut everyone up by signing a 2 yr contract or something for about this amount. Allowing us to keep Sammy, Hudler, etc. A short term window of commitment to this team to win the Cup. Demonstrate loyalty and his willingness to take less money to win the Cup. (And an admission that he overcharged the Wings this year for his services at 7.45 mill, Lidstrom numbers, which was more than what Dats and Z was getting )
-
back to the topic at hand ... what about Conklin? Less of a storyline but nevertheless ... has he won a Cup?
-
Morning after ... still bummed out. No better, maybe worst.
-
Arrogant brat. In his postgame interview, he says, 'Yah, wish we could have won it in 4 ...' Glad he didn't play 1/2 the game so he couldn't take any credit. I don't think I've ever hated any player like Cindy the Whiner. Why the hell make him the poster boy?
-
Bad news is that they now played two extremely long seasons. They start training camp in what ... a couple of months?
-
Staring into my computer screen, talking to a bunch of people I don't know.
-
EVERYBODY thought that it was a good idea back when he signed with us. Don't really care if he comes back with us or not but his performance should reduce his annual salary by 1/2. Maybe if we can get him for 3.5/yr ... keep him for regular season, then bring up Helm, Abelkader, kids that are hungry to win.
-
Feeling worst by the minute ... dazed. This can't be real.
-
Depressed.
-
+1 for the good guys.
-
+1 and agreed. Unless we find out that he's been playing hurt ... really hurt. Every game that he plays like this, he is reducing the figure of his next contract.
