I think that our winning tradition in the past made us an enviable place to come and play, so much that players may take a 'discount' to be a Red Wing. I mean let's be honest, the city is not an attraction, nor is the Joe Louis. Unfortunately, that winning tradition has taken a bit of a hit lately with the early exits from playoffs. So now the only way is if Holland throws a lot of money at players. Seriously, why would Suter want to come if he is offered something with Nashville or Parise? I think players like that only comes to play in Detroit if they are offered more $$. Thoughts?

Just watched the post game press. Every other sentence, Babs is sending a message to Holland. "They had 7 top 6 forwards ... we didn't have enough, ... we're not as deep as we used to be ... we're not good enough". Thinks defence was fine - 26SOG during the season, 23 SOG in playoffs is good defence. Only comment he might wished he had back, "I don't know any team that has 3 franchise players, Weber, Suter, Rinne" Um, how about Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom Mike? "Not going in the right direction" (about 2nd round loss, 2nd round loss, 1st round loss) - good thing is that there is only one direction to go. Heaven forbid we actually have to fight to get 7th or 8th spot!

Just watched Babcock's after practice press today. He made a comment that we're getting less shots against (17 in last game) and goalie (Howie) is standing there freezing/cold. Throughout the season, we averaged 26 shots against per game. Not an excuse but insightful observation. OK, let's get this done and bring it back to the Joe.
