I'd say even and depending who has home ice advantage, that might just be the deciding factor in a 7 game series.

Nothing really scares me about this year's SJ Sharks unless you believe in the boogy man and that they have some sort of voodoo spell over us. If we did have to meet them, I'm pretty confident that we could get the job done this year, 1st or 2nd round. Only is the travel but that's moot if we take care of them in 4 .

Finally had time to watch highlights ... OMG, never seen so many beautiful goals in one game ! It really was like the Globetrotters on ice.

At this point: 1st choice - 4th 2nd choice - 6th 3rd choice - 5th So in short, try your best to win every game but if you're sitting in 5th, just try your best to rest Lids, Dats, Z in the last few games *wink wink*

Regardless of what happens, I am NOT afraid of SJ this year. They are not the SJ of last year. I'd hate the travel in round 1 though. So, hypothetically, if Nashville overtakes us and we end up in 5th, don't you think it would be prudent to drop to 6th if possible.

I agree with OP and seriously think that we should aim for 6th. It's not that we don't want to face all the good teams to get to the SCF, if we are in 6th, we will face good teams in round 2 and Conference finals ... we want to face them as healthy as possible. Playoffs is a game of attrition, how many of your best players stay healthy till the end.

Impressive win, just saw the stat ... OMG, doubled their SOG at 50. What a comeback. BUT did we really want to win this one? So, we're aiming for 4th place now and not 6th?

I must say that I'm impressed so far. Far better than what I predicted. The way we've been playing, I'd be happy if we got a point.

Now, let's just see how many parts were broken recently all at once (not one at a time), Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Howard in the top tier - that's the steering wheel, brakes, and transmission all in the shop at the same time. How many cars can still keep moving with those parts out? Then we had Bert out in there, Cleary on a bum knee, and probably more on our 2nd tier injured. These were multiple parts going south all at the same time. Now we have Helm out ... arguably 1st tier or 1A tier out for 4-6 weeks with Howie out again. I know what you're trying to say with the car analogy but even if we were talking something as simple as bicycles, we'd have a pretty hard time keeping this thing moving forward!
