Babcock needs to chew a wad of gum ... that seems to work most of the time.

A number of us (me included) wanted Babcock to give Ozzie a start to get him ready and warmed up if he is needed in the playoffs. So Babcock gives him a start and it is what it is ... classic Ozzie, letting first shot in as a goal. Can't really expect him to be sharp not having played for so long. I still think we might need to give him another game to get him game shape ready, just in case. But if we keep losing, we'll stay in 6th or end up in 7th. What to do? Try to win every game left or give Ozzie one or two more?

Yes, congratulations are definitely deserving. I remember MANY a times throughout this season that I sincerely doubt they make it but since the Olympics, they have been playing with passion, Dats' wristers alone are a thing of beauty to watch.

It's Armageddon, end of the world in local fan base here in Vancouver. But this wasn't his worst game, that would be with Chicago in game 6 last year ... nice to know that nothing has changed for Canucks this year and Luongo can still potentially have a melt down like that

No, Ozzie won't take the starting job on one game's performance. I think consensus is that Howie starts in round 1 of playoffs and if he falters, Ozzie is warmed up and ready to go ... can anyone say Brodeur, Luongo Canadian Olympics ... this will be Babcock's strategy.

When it comes to playoffs experience for Howie, realistically what kind of performance would you be happy with? Afterall, he is a rookie. Personally, if we go deep into round 2, I think he'd learn a lot. If we go into Conference Final, then I think he would get some really good playoff experience.

It's all a bit of crapshoot. If you wait too long and he does prove himself in playoffs AND next season, then you'll have to up the ante. If you offer him something after this season and you think the kid's got what it takes, you may get a Ozzie like (younger days) goalie for under market value and spend more on your D and forwards. So, what's it going to be?

Sign him to a long term contract after this year to 2-3 mil for 4 yrs. His value may go up on the open market after next season.

Kind of surprised. I'm here in Vancouver and I honestly don't fear them. Their defense which was their weakest link last year is still pretty shoddy. They don't have a stud defenceman. Luongo is shaky right now. They have a lot of offense but we've got a strong D corps. All the folks here on forums in Vancouver fear meeting us ... and some of us would prefer not to meet them in round 1.

I don't see a whole lot of dramatic changes in 1-4, so depending on where we end up: 5th - most likely Phoenix 6th - most likely Canucks 7th - Chicago/SJ 8th - Chicago/SJ

Great game even though it was 0-0 into SO. You were tired from a long stretch but you kept paced with the Preds at home and pulled out 2 pts! You boys deserve a couple of days rest, you've earned it.

I think we have a real good chance with Vancouver. Luongo is shaky, their D is pretty crappy, and we won the regular season matchup 3 games to 1. They have a lot more pressure to advance, maybe they will crumble under pressure as well. I think we have a real good chance of winning this too.

Have the standings been updated yet? It looks like LA and Colorado both have a game in hand and we could easily be down to 8th again.
