For what it's worth I think we might want to try little more grit/toughness(whatever other adjective you prefer) but not on the bottom lines. An infusion of grit to go along with the skill of our top guys might go a long way towards lowering the physical toll on the likes of zetterberg/datsyuk,filp,etc.

Downey brings great energy/checking, I would be glad to have him on the fourth line.
-
The op. Well then are you lobbying towards it for entertainment purposes?

Except a strictly goon doesn't fit into it at all.

Am I mistaken in believing that we went to game 7 of the stanley cup finals with our two best players injured? However, clearly our recipe for success isn't working.

You mean except arguably the best net presence in all of hockey? g14 a23 p37

NHL'S Top 10 most likely breakout players

Pretty much spot on. -
Kessel is not coming to Detroit. Too pricey of a commodity.
-
I'm hoping his desire to have a more meaningful place on this team will help solidify his spot as one of our top 6.
-
On topic. I doubt this will happen until after the hudler's arbitration is finished.

The people harping about Holland in this thread make me sick. Look at the teams this city gets to watch year in and year out. How many seasons can any of you even remember where we haven't been one of the favorites? We have possibly the greatest franchise in all of sports with a GM who managed to maintain a level of excellence through a complete salary system overhaul. We were 1 win away from winning back to back cups, something no other recent champions can even come close to claiming. Yet some of you are looking to throw him under a bus for moves that COULD hurt us in the future. Maybe I'm crazy but I think I'll put my trust in Holland's track record and wisdom.

I'd like to see Mursak have a rebound year. The guy has a boat load of talent, he just couldn't seem to put it together in the AHL.
-
As did I . I have more interest in the development of Callahan than I do the skill players we took this draft.

He's not what the wings are looking for and thus unlikely to happen.

Stan handle the finances while his father handles the hockey end(obviously it's not that simple but you get the point), could end up being a really good situation in Chicago.

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract

What worries me most about losing Jiri is we don't have another offensive prospect near his level that is close to nhl ready. -
Burn of the Decade: Hossa was right to join Wings

Great read. I personally love the animosity Pitt fans have for a playoff rental who was just that, a playoff rental. -
I absolutely love that line combo. Net presence - Goalscoring - Playmaking - Puck Possession - Puck Retrieval. It's all there and its terrific.

Datsyuk will play, Cleary "Questionable"
thedatsyukian replied to NvrFrgtRussian5's topic in General
Cleary will be a huge loss. I think we will miss him most along those boards and his ability to go to those hard places on the ice. -
I agree that it can give momentum going into further games or win a single game but anything more than that I can't agree with.
-
He's just more tactful in the way he baits but it's readily apparent that he is trying incite anger as much as any of the other trolls here. He trolls with a thin veneer of sincerity.
-
And a stupid one at that. One play does not win 4 games.
-
Very dense view of that picture. Well, actually the situation in general.
-
Out of his post, is that really the play that you want to debate about? Why not pick a topic of even minor importance? Or are we just looking for an argument on the Detroit boards?
