Is there any doubt that Bert doesn't belong on the top line? I have seen nothing to warrant him playing with Datsyuk.

11/21 GDT: Red Wings 3 at Canadiens 2 (SO)

Laraque is not scared of Brad May. Laraque is pretty much the heavyweight champ so it doesn't really matter who is on the ice. edit:quoted the wrong person -
Updated for the last 2 games. At some point this season I'd like to see him get a few shifts on one of the top lines just to see if some of his old goal scoring touch is still there.
-
Probably not. In the 122 games he played for the Griffins he managed only 29 goals and while there is always the possibility that he finds a goal scoring touch despite that, it's definitely not the norm. If there was ever a player that I would want to buck the trend it would be Helm

Our third line hasn't recreated the same havoc as it initially did but not from a lack of effort.

Indeed.

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions
thedatsyukian replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Enough derailing this thread with your crusade to defend Kane's honor. He's a young kid who made a stupid mistake, please drop it and stay on topic. I hope they do sign all of them so we can renew the Wings-Hawks rivalry with competitive playoff play every year. -
Chicago chants "Detroit Sucks" when Hawks play other teams?

Indeed. It appears to me people are just having a good ol' chuckle at the expense of Hawk fans. -

I would say stadium full of hawk fans chanting "Detroit Sucks" is not quite the same level as a handful of internet dwellers mocking said Hawk fans. The red wings should be flattered that Hawks fans have a such a fixation with the Wings that they would take part in such a chant when the wings aren't playing, as opposed to you know, cheering their own team. -

Blackhawk fans have a strange obsession with the Red Wings, similar to that of a kid who was forced to eat dog s*** by his schoolyard bully. I mean they chant Detroit sucks when we're not even playing them. -
I love the two creepers in the background.

Who cares about the truth of it? It's created an excellent joke for all hockey fans to enjoy. I hate to break it to you but every fan base mocks him, as they should. -
Never. It's amazing.

3 Ingredients to a slow start. Best players being injured for the whole preseason. Starting the season in another country. Best players being injured early in the season.

If you take a look at his career statistics, it's highly probable that he will miss a significant chunk of games. The points he's putting up right now are great but I would count on him playing more than 60 games.

Did anyone take a notice at Miller's listed weight? Drew Miller 6' 2'' 178 pounds Jiri Hudler 5' 10" 181 pounds Has to be a mistake.

His work ethic and speed have been causing havoc out there with Helm. His shot is good enough that you can see why he had such a strong rookie campaign with Ottawa. I have to remind myself sometimes that he's only 25, right around the age as the rest of our rookies so he's got some time to improve.

All I can say is... why?

Williams out 8 weeks with fractured fibula
thedatsyukian replied to Winged_Wheeler's topic in General
This would be a surprising development if there were offensive players ready to make the leap to the NHL but quite frankly, there isn't really a forward capable of making an impact on the top lines. -
First night in weeks I won't have to work when Gr is playing so hopefully there will be a stream. With a quick glance at the point totals it would appear that there isn't a single player making a big offensive impact which is disappointing considering the hopes for some due to hype or strong previous seasons.

Take your pills. That's probably the same list I would have save for putting the '08 wings ahead of the '07 ducks.

Leino was about as invisible as he could be last night. I think the pressure of needing to produce because he's on the roster is getting too him as you can see him really gripping that stick tight. One big game should hopefully give him the confidence to turn it around but I don't see it happening with his line mates.
