we need an official "Datsyuk Mancrush" thread.

During McCrimmon's tenure I have yet to find a positive element that he's brought to this team meanwhile I sure as hell can point to multiple negative elements which seems to be a common trend in McCrimmon's history. The saying goes if aint broke don't fix it. It's broke and it sure needs to be fixed.

I would be beyond surprised if ZDH remains intact.

Five minutes into the game and babcock will have already put the old line back together. Those lines look ugly.

I love how some people act as if free agent signings are completely up to the team. Let's see, Prospal can play on a team's first line or he can play on a second/third line. He can play in New York(one of the most beloved cities in the world) or he can play in Detroit(nuf said). He can play on an offense first type team or he can play on a team that requires defensive responsibility. Another important note: Just because he's flourishing in New York, doesn't mean that he would do the same here.

This is a team with a lot of bad habits and while last year they were noticeable, we had enough talent play through them. This isn't the same team that's going to score 3 goals a game almost every night. Hopefully they'll have a season of correcting those habits. Obviously the goal is to make the playoffs but what this team really NEEDS, is to have a season of correction. I don't want a presidents trophy or to break all kinds of regular season records. What I really want for this team? A season where we don't expect leads to be blown, a season where we don't expect defensive lapses constantly, and a season where we don't HOPE the wings want to win as much as the opposition. In short:I'd like to watch a team that shows a passion and fire for the game. Something I haven't seen a whole lot of since our cup victory. If after watching this team you don't think what Jimmy says rings some truth, I think you're in denial.

Man with Datsyuk and Franzen out of the lineup... bleh. That's all I can say about the roster.

Lidstrom brings more to this team than just his measly 62 points(lol at these people). Who else on this team would you trust to go out there and attempt to shutdown Getzlaf? Nash? Ovy today? Who else would you trust to be out there in the final seconds of a game to stop a goal? Who else do you not EVER worry about when someone comes barreling down on his one on one? Red wing fans are so spoiled that at times it becomes hard to read. My point is this:What he brings to this team is so much more valuable than his cap hit. Every team in this league would hand over the money given the option without even blinking.

I think Datsyuk has a breakout game after being largely ineffective.
