"We don't have a natural goal scorer"

Zetterberg - 30 or more goals 4 times Datsyuk - 30 or more goals 3 times Franzen - 30 or more goals 1 time Holmstrom - 30 or more goals 1 time(3 seasons ago) After that it drops all the way down to cleary who has scored exactly 20 goals twice. There just isn't very many goal scoring threats in this lineup let alone a natural goal scorer.

One of the positives that we can take out of this game is that Abdelkader got a lot of quality minutes on the top lines which should get a long way towards his progression. I don't think the second line looked any worse with him centering it than it did with Filp centering it.

People like you are just as irritating as the people who overreact to losses. People are going to be upset after a tough loss, if you don't like, then don't go on the forums. Taunting people just makes it worse.

Words can't describe the inept shooting of the Detroit red wings.

I don't mind all the low quality shots not going in but these high percentage chances that we constantly piss away are irritating to no end.

Seriously, when the f*** are red wings players going to start burying their chances? It's not a coincidence that every goalie has a strong game against us, we just can't finish scoring chances.

Babcock blasts team as Wings help Oilers to victory

You all sound like spoiled children. Pathetic. To add to this he has 4 straight 50+ win seasons. Has the highest winning percentage of any coach in the league who has coached for more than 1 season. Every fan base in the league would drop their coach in a heartbeat to get Babcock.

With cap room next season, what is our priority?

At goaltender you have similar situation with Howard already up and playing pretty well so far. After Howard you've got Larsson who so far is having his second strong season in GR(at the age of 23) with our first round draft choice of last year McCollum backing him up. You might see them pick up a mid-level netminder but I would bet management wants to see if any of these 3 can be the "the guy" particularly the older two. Our forward prospect core isn't all that impressive in terms of players who are ready to make an impact as a top 6 type guy. The logical guess is that any extra money will be spent on some top 6 talent as we're loaded with guys pegged to bottom 6/role players.

With cap room next season, what is our priority?

I don't expect them to spend big money on defensemen until Lidstrom retires because until then we can let some of our D prospects develop. Kindl will be up next season and he's the tools to be a top 4. Kolosov is probably 2 years away and is a Big stay at home defenseman. Kronwall is already a solid number 2 despite being stuck behind Rafalski. Stuart has been a rock defensively this season. Lidstrom-Rafalski Stuart-Kronwall E-Kindl So you add in over the next few years guys like Kolosov, Pyett and Smith who could very well fight for spots on the bottom pairing. Until Lidstrom exits I think the Wings will just hold steady and see how the prospects develop.

Jakub Kindl called up from Grand Rapids

http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...ian_rafals.html DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings' injury list continues to expand. Forward Patrick Eaves will sit out his second straight game, Thursday against Edmonton at Joe Louis Arena, due to a sore left ankle. Defenseman Brian Rafalski also could miss the game, due to a sore back. Rafalski's back stiffened up on him 10 minutes into practice, forcing him to leave. Coach Mike Babcock said Jakub Kindl would be recalled from Grand Rapids (AHL) if Rafalski can't play. The club has an extra forward to fill in for Eaves, who is day-to-day after skating over a rut in the ice during Monday's morning skate. Eaves said X-rays revealed no damage. Kindl has one goal, a team-leading 11 assists and a minus-2 rating in 19 games with the Griffins. The Red Wings' first-round pick in 2005, he has yet to play in an NHL game. “He’s a good player, he can move the puck, he’s 6-foot-3, he can skate,'' Babcock said. "One day he’s got to be an NHL player.'' In an effort to spark Pavel Datsyuk, Babcock switched Todd Bertuzzi and Ville Leino in practice. “I switched Homer (Tomas Holmstrom) and Leino last game, then today I moved Bert and Leino,'' Babcock said. "Just trying to find someone for Pav to get him going.'' Here are the lines they skated with: Leino-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Bertuzzi-Zetterberg-Cleary Draper-Helm-Miller May-Abdelkader-Maltby Lidstrom-Ericsson Stuart-Lebda Meech-Lilja (out) Howard (starting) Osgood

    Kane,Toews and Keith re-signed

Oh I'm sure. The irony in all this is that as they "trim the fat" so to speak this off-season, we'll have more cap space than we've had in a long time.

    Kane,Toews and Keith re-signed

These trolls bring a smile to my face. I personally love the fascination they have with our team, oh it does wonders for my e-peen. It reminds of how we've spanked them like a red-headed step child for over a decade and really has caused a lot of this pent up resentment towards the Wings. It's great to see. I'm rather looking forward to this Rivalry being renewed because hell, it's good entertainment. Did that poster really just say we're jealous of Chicago? Chicago is the new Pittsburgh, without the success.

Careful, you can't make fun of him because we don't know all of the circumstances(despite every bit of evidence including his apology confirming he did it) so you should stop.

The stats don't impress me nearly as much as the fact that he makes a noticeable impact when you watch the games and he works hard every shift.
