He is playing through it. But that doesn't mean he has to fight and bang his hands up some more.
-
It's a facetious website, read the rest of the articles.

I didn't even read much of this thread... that being said, any notion of Kovalchuk coming here is a pipe dream for more than one reason. One, we don't want an ego like that here. Two, we will not give up significant assets to get him. Three, he wants more money than we can afford. Its just never gonna happen.

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?
ComradeWasabi replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
I wouldn't mind if the Wings' players took two weeks to rest up and get healthy instead of going, but that's not going to happen. Holland will not prevent any players from playing in Vancouver. -
Why are you guys going apes***? All three of the calls that didn't go Detroit's way were legitimate. The follow-through rule on the high stick is accurate and Mickey just read it, I remember multiple instances of this in the last couple years. Bertuzzi had the free hand on him, that's gonna get called 100% of the time. The puck was under Conklin, the ref whistled it down legitimately. Those calls were all just fine. There is no conspiracy theory and the calls weren't bulls***. Take off the tinfoil.

You only say that cause you live in Burlington.
-
I'd put it in Southern Ontario and magically move Detroit to the East so I can see them near home at least four times a year, maybe eight if I go into Toronto.
-
The injury list is actually comical.
-
I agree. He has more Cup rings than seven out of ten of those coaches. That's merit enough for him to be up there.

To my knowledge, the tagging rule means that a team cannot sign a player to an extension which would place their (future) cap hit over the current cap. ie. if a team has $1 million in cap space, they cannot sign a player to an extension which would increase the player's salary by over $1 million. I might be wrong, though. In any case, it's important to recognize that Savard is actually making $5 million this season; he actually signed for less than his current salary. Talk about a hometown discount, plus the tagging rule obviously doesn't apply.

That video was the first thing I thought of.

There isn't much to react to here. Freak accident. There's not going to be any reaction from the NHL on this so there's not much point discussing it.
-
I'm pretty sure that's incorrect. If I'm not mistaken, because he's under 35, if he retires, his cap hit goes away. If he retires at any point the B's are free from his contract.

Get back to me when the Pens will offer fair value.
-
It's kind of pointless, and it's a total pipe dream, but it's cool to think about I guess.
-
I thought it was a Pens rip-off too.
-
Really high hit, but I'm surprised Dorsett got KO'd. It didn't even look like his head went into the glass that hard.
-
In this instance, the only thing that Dennis LaRue could have intended to blow was the call.
-
No, I don't think so. They've already let Meech take his number, and if you ask me, only the absolute no-brainers should go to the rafters at the Joe. Nick will be the next.
-
If a number isn't a no-brainer for retirement - and I don't think Shanny's is - then it shouldn't be in the rafters at the Joe.

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions
ComradeWasabi replied to CenterIce's topic in General
Regardless of exactly how true the stories about 20 Cent are, they're hilarious and they've spawned some awesome jokes. I don't have anything against Kane really, sure he plays for the Hawks but I'd love to have him on the Wings (if he backchecked). It's nothing personal, if it was another young superstar like one of the Staals who did it, I'd make the jokes about them too. -
I can't really fault his answers, only the fact that he's a hostile witness throughout what I read of the interview. To be fair, we DON'T know about some of the Coyotes' operations, and while he comes off as an ******* when he talks down to the interviewer and dances around some questions, I can't really condemn him for it.

Report: Toews, Kane and Keith close to extensions
ComradeWasabi replied to CenterIce's topic in General
A report soon afterwards will confirm that the Hawks will play with five players next season; Kane, Toews, Keith, Campbell and Huet. They will be within $100,000 of the cap. -
To clarify, teams don't intentionally "not win" in OT so they can go to a shootout. But I wouldn't be surprised if a coach instructed his team to avoid getting scored on at all costs in order to make it through 5 minutes and get to a shootout, if that team has skilled shooters and a capable netminder. Then again, Minnesota employs that strategy for 60 minutes anyways, so it can't be that bad.
