I hope this deal gets a serious look from the NHL. 17 years, with 550k for the last five years? Yeah right, if there's ever been evidence of obvious cap circumvention this is it.

Careful, it's an awfully long fall down from that high horse of yours.

I am not nearly as surprised about Samuelsson's 30 goals as I would be about Lebda's 40 points. Sammy showed flashes of brilliance and talent when he was here, but he didn't play with our best players enough to get him in a rhythm and keep his confidence high. Besides, Sammy is a good fit with the Sedins; he has a hell of a shot when he uses it correctly, and the twins create so much space on the ice that Sammy has tons of time to set up shop and rip one-timers. Hell, he even has enough time to aim them properly.

Brendan Witt was waived by the Islanders. Do we really think he's going to play well here in Detroit?

I've watched a lot of Ryan Kesler. I agree that $5 million was a good number for the Canucks for his 2009-10 season. It remains to be seen, however, if he's capable of maintaining or improving upon the offense he produced this year, or for the next six years. That being said, his contract is more a product of the GMs being bats*** insane than a product of his talent. Six years at 5 million for a forward with one decent and one solid season under his belt? Edit: Except Fatso.

Why does everybody think hockey players like to take pay cuts? Sure, everyone wants to win, but everybody needs to get paid. I'm sure there's at least one contending team out there who can afford to pay him the $2 million he made last year. In fact, I'd be surprised if he didn't get a raise considering the typical free agency idiocy going on right now.

I know, me too. I hate when Holland picks up an undrafted defenseman with some potential and willingness to work and earn a spot in the lineup. I especially hate it when it comes at no cost to the team.
-
I'm going to agree to disagree about the 'nucks having a "potent offense".
-
I can't believe Ryan Kesler makes $5 million.
-
Pretty bad one.
-
I would trade Flip and a first for Horton, just saying.

How much better would we be looking with Leino and Kopecky

I'm really proud that I started the blueadams line combo drinking game. -
Adam Burish: Chris Pronger Is The Biggest Idiot In The League
ComradeWasabi replied to jeff48109's topic in General
Not a compliment. Our PK was outstanding this year, we don't need any improvement here; and for the record, I don't believe Burish is an upgrade over anyone we have on the PK right now. Yes, badly. A lot of guys can do that better than him. So he's not Aaron Downey. +1 for Burish, I guess. Decent enough for his career PPG to be 0.13. Congratulations. For the sake of the team, I hope not. -
blueadams drinking game, drink up! Wait...

Adam Burish: Chris Pronger Is The Biggest Idiot In The League
ComradeWasabi replied to jeff48109's topic in General
I can't figure out why. Burish has no offensive upside whatsoever. 4 points in 13 games this season; yeah, he was hurt, but his record for points is a whopping 8 in 81 games a couple of years ago. Maltby's on the way out, I don't see any reason to replace him with another agitator who can't score. -
Adam Burish: Chris Pronger Is The Biggest Idiot In The League
ComradeWasabi replied to jeff48109's topic in General
Damn, I'm a minute late. I was just about to say that I think it's ironic that one of the biggest idiots in the league is calling somebody else the biggest idiot in the league. -
God damn, he drilled him lol.

Hossa, unfortunately, is not a big game player. Keep in mind that in addition to his two SCF losses, he's participated in 12 international events with Slovakia and never won anything. He's got one good playoff run to his name (with Pittsburgh in 08) and a couple of decent ones in Ottawa years and years ago. Apart from that, his performance when it matters most has never been good.
-
He's worth every penny of the $6.2 million. That being said, I was hoping he would take one for the team and sign for much less simply because it would help improve the roster.

I want Philly to win as Chicago is the one team I could not bear to see win a Cup. I would say the Leafs are another team, but it's never going to happen so it's not even a concern. Unfortunately, I think Chicago's got too much firepower this year for Philly to take them down.
-
Anybody except Chicago, honestly. I don't really wanna see Montreal win it just because of their annoying rabid fans up here but if it were Montreal vs. Chicago in the finals, I still wouldn't root for Chicago.
-
Seeing the post that said sign Kovalchuk for $5 million made me laugh.

Vancouver paper warns cabbies about arrival of Patrick Kane
ComradeWasabi replied to FunkedUp's topic in General
That's actually hilarious. I'm sure some Chicago fans are gonna be butthurt about it and call it classless but that's funny no matter who you are. -
Maybe it's just the heat of the game, but I felt myself getting irrationally angry during this game in a way that I don't usually feel. Every time the fans in that building cheered my blood pressure went up a little bit. When Setoguchi gashed Franzen open yet somehow drew a tripping call instead of sitting in the box for 4 like he should have, I think a small blood vessel in my brain burst. I understand that it's not his call, but he went down awfully hard considering he was busy taking a chunk out of Franzen's cheek. And when he flopped like Peter Forsberg to draw the 5 on 3 I almost broke the nearest object (my phone, not a good idea). This little s*** will be the object of my hatred for the remainder of this series and in every game that Detroit and San Jose play in the future.
