If you can't beat them on the scoreboard...
ComradeWasabi replied to cusimano_brothers's topic in General
Talk about a sensationalized story. You'd think the kids were having UFC fights in the locker room. -
NHL Rule Change Thoughts while following Olympics
ComradeWasabi replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
Probably not wise, as it would replicate an issue we have now which is variable-point games in the standings. A game right now is worth 2 or 3 points every night. When the ties were around, every game was worth 2 points, no matter what; either a winner got 2 and the loser 0, or both teams got 1. The Olympic format solves this; every game is worth three points, so we don't see teams with huge numbers of OT losses overtaking teams with more wins, but fewer OT losses. Your proposition again introduces an imbalance and people will of course be screaming and blaming an uneven points system for missing the playoffs. -
Mark on it the calendar, blueadams started a thread without a single line combination in the OP.

This is actually painfully true.

Brandon Dubinsky calling Sidney Crosby a little baby
ComradeWasabi replied to Finnish Wing's topic in General
Uh yeah, exactly, petty is a good word for it. Poking someone after a faceoff is not in the group of actions I would put in the "playing with emotion" category. -
We're not producing much offense, though.

There was a new thread started on this subject two days ago. What an unnecessary thread bump.
-
Good riddance, he made a fine mess out of the last two or three seasons.
-
Iginla led his team to within a game of the Cup a few years back, and I would certainly rate Ovechkin now as better than Iggy in his prime. It's not impossible for a winger to be the hero.
-
Unlikely, cap space is the issue here.

Jim Fox is the one that annoys me more than anyone else. The cadence of his sentences is always the same, he'll say a sentence totally normally and then four words from the end of it, he throws in a comma and changes his voice for the end. It drives me nuts.

I loled.

I would, I don't think Burke would, though.

Sedin 'sisters' no more. These guys are for real.
ComradeWasabi replied to Playtawk's topic in General
I couldn't believe the way that the Sedins and Burrows played with the Leafs. They were simply incredible Saturday night. -
I understand that Patrick Kane looks like a pimply little teenager still, but there's probably a thousand hot women in Vancouver who would sleep with him based on his name alone. I have no idea where he found Shrek's sisters.
-
Yeah, he wasn't much of a goaltender, but in a thread about goalies and size, Darren Pang has to be mentioned, even if satirically.
-
Would you post the response? I'm sure I'm not the only one who would LOVE to read it.

Lilja was playing great hockey leading up to his injury. He's not gonna have his game right away but considering the way he plays - big body, blocking shots, strong defense - he should get back up to speed pretty quickly. If he can continue playing the way he was before he got hurt, he's going to be a huge improvement over Lebda or Meech as our #6 defenseman. There is no question about that.

oh my god oh my god oh my god oh my god KRONWALL

Washed up Sergei Fedorov centering top line for Olympics..
ComradeWasabi replied to bconnan's topic in General
The "second line" could be Heatley-Thornton-Marleau or Perry-Getzlaf-Staal. Actually, I'm pretty sure any of the Canadian lines could be called a first line, so the order they're listed on paper probably isn't worth much. -
On the topic of Lilja, it's been 11 months since his concussion. If I'd had headaches every day, or every few days, for 11 months, I probably would have killed somebody by now.

I still hear "rubs him out" in reference to a check along the boards in games, usually when the guy gets smushed right into the boards. Still kinda homo, though. As for Modano... nah. Unless we acquired him for a pick or something, which is impossible with our cap situation. Maybe Leino-Modano?
