I still don't get it.

Create a line-up that you would hate to play against.

As far as a competitive playing to win lineup goes, Getzlaf has to be in there. He doesn't bug me much but he's been the hardest for this team to contain by far. -
..... I don't know how to answer any of that.
-
Come on, that third jersey is just the Rangers' jersey with USA on it.
-
Seabrook and Keith, best defensive pairing in the NHL? What the f***?

^ As an extra note to Shoreline's post, during the regular season, TSN shows only games in which at least one team is Canadian. None of this NBC Rangers love-fest; TSN plays any Canadian team, and is always doing Wednesday night double-headers. Plus HNIC on CBC Saturday nights which are almost always Canadian double-headers.. There is certainly a sense of Canadian-first support when it comes to our national hockey media.

They were probably hammered.

Luongo is a superstar and competes with Brodeur for the "best" goalie in the game today. That being said, he had a meltdown at the end of the 08 season when his wife was having her baby and in the most important game of his career, game 6 of the WCSF, he quite simply stank. Until he has a ring to prove that he's the best, he's not worth a massive contract; and even if that happens, he's not worth 8 million. I'll take Nick Lidstrom + Chris Osgood at the same price as Roberto Luongo.

I hope you care if Canadian interest in hockey is waning. Revenues from the Canadian team are worth something like 30% of the league's income (don't quote me on that figure, but it's a significant percentage). With the salary cap in place, it's in the American teams' best interests to be concerned with Canadian revenues.

I wonder if NHL executives just tell fans flat-out lies because they know that 1) it's harmless and 2) it creates positive discussion about their team.. If the OP's story is true, but Williams doesn't end up signed, I'll have to start subscribing to that theory.

Man, there's some names on there I haven't read in a while. Who knew Oleg Saprykin or Alexei Zhitnik were still alive?
-
I also heard something like "get your balls attached you f***in' *****". I love hearing all that chirping.

Plus, that was funny. Come on, there's a lot of trash talk we don't hear. I'm sure Malts has commented on someone's wife at some point. I can't believe that Burrows signed for $2 million. I would take Burrows over Hudler in an instant and Burrows agreed to sign for 2/3 the price while putting up similar numbers and contributing more outside of pure point production. Players like David Backes, Burrows and Milan Lucic are absolute gold.... stick-to-the-face or not.
-
Hudler will go to Dynamo Moscow this season. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/2009/08/ji...that_agent.html

But is he staying or going? This KHL defection situation is not over with.

Let's use this opportunity to forget about Eklund mentioning Kessel's possibly joining the Sharks.. and instead just talk about how the Sharks went from the NHL's 2008-09 Stanley Cup golden boys and have a bleak-looking 2009-10 season ahead.

This isn't Crosby-bashing, people, this is just making fun of looks. Mike Ricci deserved it all, too.
-
Not quite batting a thousand, but 0.002 isn't so bad.
-
Rumour automatically becomes false as soon as Eklund mentions it.
-
The reason Osgood shouldn't be in the HHOF is because his name has never been synonymous with the greatest of his generation.
-
Glen Sather knew that Marian Gaborik was made of glass and gave him a five-year deal anyways. When signing an injured Hossa, who has a history of durability, for twelve presumably mostly-healthy years, four months of recovery following shoulder surgery isn't going to hurt that much.
-
Daniel is better than Henrik. Goals > Assists.

Red Wings look toward the post-Chris Osgood era

I was going to respond to that guy's post, but you did so more thoroughly and spectacularly than I could have hoped.
