WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

I am pretty happy with the performance and energy the Wings made in the 3rd period and they have to keep up the level of their potential level in OT. There should be zero mistake in overtime.

WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

This is I really agree. While Ducks best players are generating all chances, Red Wings best players have done none. Only Ozzie is playing good but defenses lose every battle and being destroyed. They have to be engaged for the 3rd period; if not, the result will be absolutely ugly

WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

Absolutely correct. Besides, more than power play, Datsyuk and Hossa have been extremely invisible; same with Zetterberg and Franzen. This is absolutely brutal. The only line works now is 3rd and 4th lines; not 1st line and 2nd lines. Besides, if then our 1st and 2nd lines are shut down, we have to also shut down Ducks' 1st line but we just let them to control the play too smoothly. If we play like this in the 3rd, I have no word. It will be the result of playing with no heart and the result of not ZDH line being reunited.

WCSF GAME 2 GDT: Ducks 4 at Red Wings 3 (3OT)

I agree. Both teams separated the time of period with their own momentum but the most importantly, we won the game 1. We knew the Wings could be very tough in game 1 because they had not played for like 8 days while the Ducks went to game 6 against the Sharks. As we know, the Wings did not play up to their potential level but this game, we have to play with our full Red Wings talent and full effort. Getzlaf played a lot of minute and so will today and throughout the series. For sure, the Ducks first line and Selanne are dangerous but if eihter our first line or second line play far better than game 1 and shut the Ducks first line down, the Wings other 2 lines will boost up and generate all offensive chances.

    Where is Hossa?

Oh sorry if I understood in a wrong way. But the bottom line is that I do not particularly think Hossa is playing bad. He made some good defensive performances in game 1 but I know he has to step up offensively and I have faith on Hossa and Datsyuk.

    Where is Hossa?

I never though Hossa is playing bad. For sure, he has not been spectacular but he scored 2 goals and made some assists and made some good defensive plays. I do not think it is proper to bash players in the playoff by watching only few games.

    5/2 Playoff GDT

I think that is the kind of play you should not play in the playoff. If you lay back down, there is ton of chance to be beaten up. It does not matter who is playing good or who is playing bad. If you make one atrocious mistake, that changes the all momentum. The problem is that even though Luongo made some sensational saves like he made by a stick, the Canucks still lay back and not being motivated. If you give any benefit to other teams, you receive tons of chances to be beaten up.

    Getzlaf ice time

I was impressed by the amount of power and skill Getzlaf has. For sure, the Ducks do not have any offensive option except for Perry, Getzlaf, Ryan, and Selanne but these four guys are shifting very well. In game 1, as commentators said something, Getzlaf was always on the ice, both PP and PK unit. No doubt he is a really good player. However, if Datsyuk and Hossa can roll their skates back since game 1 and shut down Getzlaf line, the Wings 2nd and 3rd line will produce many offensive chances. If I see the Ducks, their first line is looking good but when other 2,3,4 lines are on the ice, they make tons of mistake except for Selanne who sometimes shift as well as the first line combo. As we shutdown Rick Nash in the first round, we have to shutdown Getzlaf as well as we did on Rick Nash in game 1,2, and 3; not like game 4..

    5/2 Playoff GDT

The only Hawks offense I can recognize is Kane in this series. I heard Toews has medical problem and Havlet is doing nothing. But more than that, their blue line cannot do anything at this point. I was surprised when I heard Hawks fans booed Campbell few months ago but I can say now: Campbell is really god awful this season regardless of number of his point.

    5/2 Playoff GDT

I expected it would be more entertaining series. But overall, I do not know this is the Canucks is playing good or Chicago is playing poorly. For sure, the Canucks is playng up to the level of the playoff, but Chicago is not generating anything; neither defene nor offense. In addition, their special team really gone down and not even working well. Like the first goal, that was bad PK, let Salo to play one-timer with a full sight.

Can we please stop saying who is right or wrong, YoungGuns1340 and MrSandMan? Nothing related to the topic and just attack personally; it just affects other people in a bad way. Whose knowledge is limited or not, who cares about that. Just own opinion and say that. Extremely being childish

I almost to feel give up tonight's game. People do not have to go Joe anymore.. what a terrible performance and the boring hockey this is. Zetterberg is the only guy who is trying out there tonight. Kronwall, Stuart <----- holes of the Red Wings

This game is even worse than the game against the Isles. No effort out there and just skating 60 minutes with ladies

More than that, Conks has been fine. Good PK but is Stuart sleeping every game? He just stands up and do nothing. Terrible defenses joke..

    Mule close to signing

I think people are underestimating Franzen's skill and talent. This guy has more goals than Hank this season and do not forget we drafted him. I do not know how much Hossa does and Franzen does in the coming playoff but I actually love both players. As some people here say the team has to show and keep the loyalty toward every player, then it should be dealt to Franzen too. I am in favor of Hossa because he is an All-Star and been great for so many years while Franzen has been very good as a late boomer. The age can be the difference but as I know, that is only one year old difference. In my head right now, I think Holland looks the future of this team's goalie and Ericsson with Leino. We now approximately have 10 million cap left for the next season. As people say there should be a home discount for players in the Red Wings, Hossa is worth of 6 million and Franzen is 4 million player. It sounds like 2 million is not a big cap difference but what I am saying is that is not true. Hudler will be FA too this coming off season and also does Leino. Hudler is a good skilled player and still young, same with Leino. For the further future, I think we have to keep them both, Ericsson has one more year left on his contract as the Red Wings by my memory. Then if we sign Hossa, we have 4 million left. Yea, we can sign with both Hudler and Leino but who is going to be our goaltending? Holland must know Osgood will not be back to his form during the contract period left for him, 2 more years after this season. Then, as both Howard and Larsson need more time to be the starter whether in AHL or NHL, we need someone to be on the net. Sounds like if Lethonen tries to leave the Thrashers, Holland can make a deal even though he is RFA. Another choice can be Harding and Conklin. I keep repeating this but I surely love both Hossa and Franzen. To compare these two players, Hossa is better but do not forget we still have to sign with our young players and get a good goalie.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

Very great point. I am on your side that Conklin is not a proven goalie in the playoff, not even a starter but mathmatically, Conklin surely gives us a better chance to win the cup, not Osgood. Besides, Conklin and Osgood have played with the same defenses, not different. Then, while Osgood is playing really poor, Conklin has been enough solid on the other hand. When I saw Osgood was in a slump in a first month, I thought it was just an illusion and believed he would bounce back. However, that was wrong and I totally lost the credit when he allowed 7 goals against the Pens; it killed us. As much as I put the quantity over quality on the number of shots, our defenses have not been very solid but our offenses could cover up. Since then, our defenses have been becoming more solid and even more solid, Osgood is not confident. Like the game against the Preds, he even could not make saves on ordinary slap shots. Is Conklin making crazy saves like Brodeur and Luongo? No. But as we know, the Red Wings goaltending does not have to be like them because our offenses and defenses are such dominant groups. However, our goalies still have to make at least some easy shots. On that part, Osgood cannot do while Conklin can do so many times this season. I personally do not know who will start the playoff; idealically Osgood because of playoff experience but at the end, we will probably have to go with Conklin because of better performances.

4/2 GDT: Blues 5 at Red Wings 4

This is a good test for the Red Wings. The Blues are in a desperate situation for hunting the playoff so they will come up big for sure. We have not been playing well last 2 games but I do not see the Wings lose three straight. As I said, ZDH line is reunited, I am really happy with this and hope Conklin will be our man this season, start with today.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

The most important fact is that Osgood is not IMPROVING. He had good games against the Thrashers and the Flyers but that were all. Since the dominated game against the Flames, he was atrocious, in one word, choke. Who cares about his stats if he is building his confidence in himself. If I hear his interview right now, I just do not have faith on him anymore. How the hell he feels good and comfortalbe himself? Just he lies on the interview? He does not look responsible for goals he allow. Besides, there is no need to blame our defenses. While our defenses are not playing great, they have been improved, which Osgood has not been. Fewer give aways and break aways but as you guys know, those things happen in the game. There cannot be absolute shut down defensive systems. That is why there is a goalie in the net when defenses misplayed. I see many people here just blame defenses when Osgood allows goals. Goalies are on burden when they allow goals. Maybe our defenses make some problems but as I see Osgood this season, he is out of position every game and not reacting enough quick. He is not sharp out there. At this point, no one can be worse than Osgood. That is why Conklin should be tested and if he is enough solid, he should start. No matter the amount of experience now. There is no hell opportunity he will turn around and become last year's Osgood. Remember the first half of the season that we have to build a confidence on Conklin instead of Osgood because Osgood looks not capable to turn around and play good? If I use a strong word, Osgood lovers just do not care what happens right now. They just in the hallucination about last year's Osgood but knowing nothing. If players are playing bad, they have to blamed while they have to be cheered up and encouraged when they play great. Now, only few games are left for us and neither our goalies are confident under the assumption, then, isn't that pretty much dealing?

Babcock - "We're not ready yet"

I think this is good time for Babs to state this speech. The Wings played very bad against the Isles but still played far better against the Preds but Osgood just blew up us. It does not matter we are ready or not realistically but by saying this, I think players can be motviated and be ready with more confidence for the playoff.

Conklin to start Thursday; Rafalski out again

I totally agree our defenses played poorly some of games. However, that happens sometimes. As people said Nick was out of his play with Rafalski, Kronwall in the beginning of the season after we lost to the Pnes 7-6, they have been reforming their play styles and become far better than the past. I am the guy who criticized Osgood's poor performance throughtout the season but still wished he would bounce back. However, he did not and he did not make his own chances from many given chances from the team. When Osgood is in the net, the Wings look to make more giveaways and turnovers than when Conks is in the net. Defenses are probably pressured too much because if they make mistakes, Osgood is not in favor to make the save. However, When Conks is in the net, they play far better and it has been proved throughout more than 40 games. If Osgood kept improving his play since the game against the Thrashers, this news or story would not show up because Osgood has much playoff experience. Goalies have to be the best jewelry in the playoff on PK, and changing the momentum. While Conks has done that many times this season, I cannot think Osgood has done that. He might have played some good games but those are not enough to prove his play this season. According to the stats, we allowed almost the fewest shots; if we consider the Wild allows the fewest shots according to their boring system, it might come up clearly. I might put the quantity over the quality but that means goalies have better chances to win because mathmetically, as other goalies face more shots, Osgood did not have to face that many shots but his sv percentage is absolutely atrocious. Then, there is no explanation for Osgood and Conklin. Conks also has played with exactly SAME defense men but his GAA and SV percentage is far better, also the number of shut outs. Ozzie's tremedous playoff experience may help him in the playoff but before the experience, goalies have to have good seasons. Therefore, it is absolutely reduntant to recall Ozzie's career playoff performances. I am also saying I am not fully confident in Conks but that guy is playing enough solid and giving us chance to win except for few games; but this happens to every goalie even Brodeur. It is not like who has more experience or better. By the flat looked stats and other circumstances, Conks will provide us better chance to win the cup this season instead of Ozzy.
