Well first of all, the issue of the income business and economy of the NHL has been on the surface since.. I don't remember but few years ago. As you know, even though there are some cities that love hockey, the most important thing is whether they are affordable or not. I live in Vancouver and have been some Wings games but also does the Rangers games. Some teams' tickets are unreasonable sometimes and that is one of reasons what kill the NHL. However, to compare MLB and NHL, there must be big difference. I appreciate you bring up the example of NBA, which is also having a rough time in economy with NHL. More than just tickets, you guys know MLB is providing the service of video; MLB started this service since few years ago. To copy that, Bettman just started to provide the service of video in youtube because Bettman thinks patrons of the NHL must be younger or wealthier than MLB because he thinks poor people cannot visit the hockey stadium according to the high price of tickets. Therefore, Bettman might think if hockey fans know there is a highlight video option in youtube, they will watch. Nevertheless, the problem is I suppose people here have used youtube.com a lot; if you go to youtube, unless the video's rate or click rate is extremely high, you cannot find the video before you type the main code of the video's name. In my opinion, that was probably the failure by Bettman on growing the popularity of hockey. Furtheremore, just few years ago, the core of American Hockey was ESPN, not VERSUS or NBC. As the contract between the NHL and ESPN came to the end, ESPN might ask ridiculously low contract money on NHL broadcast because it considers NHL's fan base is very tiny in America. Not to blame Bettman's real mind on NHL, but VERSUS might also kill the NHL's populartiy in America, which directly related to the low income of NHL to decrease the net income. Besides, NBC is not constantly broadcasting hockey. They just randomly pick some Sundays to broadcast hockey. As I know, other sports' leagues also have a rough time in economy except for the European soccer league because countries' governments or municipal offices take care of them. However, as the time goes more and more, NBA is starting to find a way to recover their low income. For example, Yao Ming(did I spell right?), the chinese famous basketball player, it is an exapansion of the NBA. They tried to expand their broadcasting power to Asia, which has the biggest population in the world as a continent, it will cause a good result on TV rate. Something similar to the NBA, NHL is trying to do some many new things like Winter Classic and opening the league in some countries in Europe. I do know how result converts to but it is a good try at least for me. The world is in a global period so Bettman is trying to do so many things on the outside of North America. On the other hand, at least to me, Bettman is not enough a good commissioner who can resuscitate NHL's popularity. You guys probably know more than me about the MLB but I know the commissioner of MLB, Bud Celic was also blamed a lot when he just became the commissioner of the MLB. What about now? To overcome the depression in the MLB, now MLB is in a prosperous condition. Just I hope this kind of commissioner will appear in the NHL. Now, the NHL is making only deficit, not black ink. If the NHL wants to cover this up, it is not only ticket sale but have to fix so many problems around it,

Who is our starting goalie tonight? Conklin or Ozzie?

The Wings have to take the Flyers' offenses effectively. I think our offenses can beat the Flyers' defenses but our main pont of this game is killing their offenses. I have a half belief and nervous on Ozzie but hopefully he can come up big as late performances. We had been sometimes lazy at home game but the Flyers is a good team so the Wings have to be ready to take them with all heart and full effort. Let's go Red Wings!

Why do people care about power ranking from TSN? TSN is the lover of canadien teams, they all suck though

Awesome. It shows how great this organization is. Since Yzerman came to the Wings, the Wings have made the most of playoff; 18 consecutive playoff I think? We never failed after even though we won the cup. This season will be same. Because the Wings are great, many dumb Canadians' medias hate us but who cares. We have won the 3rd most cups, maybe 2nd soon passing the Leafs.

To add your comment, Murray was the reason the Ducks won but because Burke has a high education degree and the job effecting, Burke became the GM. If the Ducks did not give Burke the cup, he would be listed on the one of the worst GMs in the league. What can he do? Draft? Good deal? Nothing. It was not even the first time. When he was in the Whalers, the Whalers missed the playoff; same with the Canucks, made some incomprehensible decisions on goalies. Ducks won the cup because of these reasons -Pronger's wife hated the city of Edmonton and some affair works, moved the city of Ahaheim which is warm and a good city to live. -Some stupid calls against Ducks' opponents and idiot Bettman saved Pronger from the suspension. -Because Murray made a deal to get Rob Nidermayer, Scott had a favor to come to the city of Anaheim. -West is far better than East.

Not related to this topic but Burke is actually a dumb GM on drafting and signing a B level player. You guys remember about Bertuzzi and Schnieder. No one said the Ducks had to sign him for more than 1 year but Burke did. And what did he do at the end? Waiver him up. No one said the Ducks had to trade McDonald but Burke did and same with that on other players too. He is not even the average GM if you do not consider he graduated the university of Harvard and was a lawyer. He is just a noisy guy on the media and making just some blockbuster trades. The point is the Ducks cannot be the cup contender for next few years. Pronger and Nidermayer were the core of their defenses but they are getting worse and worse as the time is passing. Whitney? If you think this guy can take all Ducks' defenses, you are dead wrong. You guys remember when the Sens lost in the Final, every one said the Sens had to rebuild but because of illusion of entering the final, they did not. Same with the Ducks. They failed last season and that was the time they had to rebuild their whole team but they didn't. The worst thing in the Salary cap era is making one line team. That is the Ducks' situation right now. They do not have any 2nd scoring or 3rd scoring. Only Getzlaf, Perry, and Ryan. It was a good move that they locked up Getzlaf and Perry but what is going to happen on their defenses?

The Ducks will be sucks next few years doubtlessly. I do not notice any guy from the team. Nidermayer and Pronger are not strong like the past anymore and the only players they have are Ryan, Getzlaf, and Perry. What a brutal performance by the Ducks while Hiller has been solid on the net.
