Interesting. I never thought the Wings games are boring. Maybe lately, they have been lazy and play with no heart; that must be why. However, can you say any other teams that play more interesting than us? Maybe Toronto Maple Leafs, the drug hockey? You cannot say the Wild, if you do, then I want to meet you to see who you are.

It is very nice idea to put Chelli and Ericsson together. Ages are big gap but Chelli can be the experience supporter for Ericsson. I somehow hope Ericsson will start the playoff. He has been enough solid to play the NHL, and he is our first defense pairing in the future. It is also good to see Hank and Pasha are put together back with Cleary but I hope Homer will be our first line. The problem is our 2nd line paring but they have been better than before so let's have a faith that they will bounce back to their own games Best lineup will be Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Hossa-Franzen-Filppula Hudler-Samuelsson-Leino Draper-Maltby-Kopecky Lidstrom-Rafalski Kronwall-Stuart Ericsson-Chellios(or Lebda, should not be Meech) Conklin With the assumption that Leino is on and Hossa is back from the injury.

I think the Oilers will be the most favorable team that the Wings want to play. We beat them 3 times this year, it is different than the 05-06 season when we won 2 and they won 2 during the regular season. I do not know Rolloson can be hot again in the playoff or not but he has been awful against us. Be serious, I am very scared if we will play against the Jackets. Mason has no playoff expereince but Nash can kill us somehow.

This game will have to be done very nicely. Pheonix has been awful lately. Others are good but still cannot understand the purpose of separating Euro Twin. Zetterberg and Datsyuk should be together yet Homer cannot be with them right now by the first game since long time ago

Don't sign with both. Sign only one and keep Leino and Huds. Trade Stuart and get a goalie.

It sounds great. I watched the Wings first in 1999, the time I was young, impressed by Fedorov on the game. Bringing back ESPN will be great because everyone loved Gary Thorne while people hate McGuire and Milbury. These two guys are the worst commentators that I have ever seen and such an idiot on the TD too. You guys know the income of the NHL suddenly started to decline down very quickly because not many people buy the channel of VERSUS; making people to have excess on hockey. If you compare the populartiy of the NHL now and the past, there must be a huge difference. I know Americans here watch the NHL but be honest, I cannot say many Americans watch hockey, which cause the low income and killing the NHL

Basically, we always play better against strong teams but against easy teams, we are having a trouble. BJ is not a weak tema but you cannot call BJ super strong. I think we need a number one seed. It does not matter? I think it matters. You know this team's PK is awful on the road while home PK is good? I don't know that will be dealt in the playoff too but that is what I am worrying about.

I really regret that I said we had to sign with Stuart by looking at his performance on the playoff. I think he is a good player but the level of his playing right now, spending too much cap on him is a waste I think Youngguns1340 made a good point but I honestly do not think the Devils will trade White and prospects round pick for Stuart. Holland is not the only GM who care and watch the Wings games but also other GM do. What I want to say is that this team is spending too much money on defenses. While other teams spend less than 20 million, or way less than that, we are spending more than 20 million. Think about carefully. If I were the GM of Detroit Red Wings, I would pick up goalie by giving up one defense from the 2nd pair and one another defense. Surely, we have to keep Lidstrom and Lilja, Ericsson look good out there who will lead this team's defense. I understand people blame Rafalski but he still produces points. Real problems of this team's defense is Kronwall, Meech, and Chellios. Also does Stuart. I just do not get it. Kronwall, who is having a great talent on offenses and PP, and has improved his defenses, why does not hit anymore? Did he forget how to hit during the summer? Meech has been the hole of this team with Chellios. We actually did not have to sign with Chellios. By that salary cap, we better used Ericsson who is a great defenseman in the AHL. Let's get rid of some defenses. I know defenses are main parts of this team but by Lidstrom, Rafalski, Lilja, Ericsson, and Kronwall.. this team can be still solid. Get rid of Stuart, Lebda, and Meech. By that salary, we cannot get a goalie like Luongo but can get Lethonen or Anderson or Vokoun. Looking further in the future, Osgood will be sucks while Howard and Larsson are not ready, we will definately have the problem.

I am on your side but your last sentence sounds risky. We already used this stragedy last season as Dom failed but Osgood had a success. There cannot be this occasion against this year because at least Dom had .902 sv percentage while Osgood was brilliant. This season's Osgood is probably the worst goaltending I ever seen. No excuse for allowing 7 goals on 24 shots and no chance he can bring back to his game this season, maybe until the end of his career. You remember the Flames last season when Kipper pulled in game 3 and Cujo saved them while the Flames came back to 4-3 from the deficit 3-0? People said Cujo can take them because of experience but Keenan did not because Cujo was having a bad season. Then what happened? In game 7, he was awful after he replaced Kipper. This season's Wings is no different than the Flames last season on goalies. Conklin is having a better season while Osgood is the worst goalie in the league. Wouldn't it be hillarious that Osgood starts because of only exprience regardless of his performance this season? But that is what many people are saying here and also done to speak by Babcock and Holland. I sometimes think people here think each game on the playoff is a joke. Truth is, that is not the fact. I want to ask people here. When Osgood is in the net, how many times have you guys felt comfortable? Seriously, even though you really love Osgood and I do too because he was the Red Wings for a long time, but do you think he will be able to steal the game? Maybe not. Let's suppose we are going to play against the Jackets in the first round. Put Osgood in the first game when Mason is on the other side. Can you guys actually expect Osgood will be able to steal the game against Mason and Nash? I do not know this is a coincidence but when Osgood is in the net, he allowed hat trick on Nash, 3-2 deficit, 8-2 deficit. Conklin has not been last year's Osgood but he has been good. Stats and Shutouts are there to see how good this goalie is, not ornament on goalie's name value. If stats of Osgood is illusion, then show the improvement. I am talking about the consistent goaltending performance, not just having one shutout and one goal allowed game. Be serious. I know we are all the RED WINGS FANS, but you obviously want your team to win first. Do I have to prove reasons for this? No. Then, when Osgood is in the net, be serious to think in yourself whether you feel the Wings will win or lose. Conklin has not been super weak against any team this season. He got 6 shutouts against good teams too, Sharks, Hawks, Jackets. Career backup? Sick of hearing this. Do not compare Conklin with Legace. Then if I compare Conklin with Cam Ward, can you guys disagree about this? It is not a loyalty to special players. We have been already LOYAL to Osgood. Think about it. If Osgood was in the other team with the same record now, he would be benched or sent down, or the worst condition, being waivered. It is not a time to test which goalie would be our starter. This season's Wings' starter is Conklin, not Osgood.

I think the goaltending is the weakest part in this team right now. I know we make a lot turnovers on our defensive zone to blue line but when there is a mistake, goalies should be ready cover but our goalies have never been, especially Osgood. For number 4, I agree but I may put stealing the puck and keeping the puck. When I watched the Wings games lately, the pattern has been same. When we cannot control the puck, we do not touch the puck for such a long time and converted to the goal sometimes. I do not know why but the Wings' forecheking has been invisible and also as you mentioned, the speed of going to the net to play back-check has not been seen for a while. This team's defense is sometimes also struggling and the opponent is playing dump and rush stragedy. Last year, we defended all those kind of play but this season, our defenses look to allow more than it has to be. Then, 2 on 1 occurs and it makes a hard time on goalies. I do not know what exactly I mentioned but more of those categories, The Wings are playing with no heart, in a short word, sometimes being LAZY.

I think it is meaningless to compare the Red Wings to other top teams because every top team is having a rough period. However, you should be excited for every game. Remember last season? Except for the injured Feb, we were excited pretty much every game because we wanted a lot, I would say the most. This season is not. It does not matter what seed we are taking right now. We have one more win than the Sharks but they have 2 games on the hand; like this statement is redundant. You said we will be fine in the playoff because we have a success when we play against good teams. Yeah that's the truth. However, don't forget we are idealically finish the season in the West by number one or two, which means we will face the 7th or 8th teams, which the Wings players may not consider too seriously. I have been watching the Wings games this season pretty much all but the goalie situation now Osgood can be very hurt in the playoff. Remember the Oilers few seasons ago? They had only Rolloson and Legace was deadly awful. There is no assumption that cannot happen this season or not. What I am viewing now is this season's Osgood is very similar to that time, at least Legace had a better stats in that season than Osgood this season. Our offenses are always on hot and defenses are becoming better I think. According to the average of the NHL, we have the best offenses in the league then, the defenses also have to step up and the part of defense is a goalie. If we cannot score 4 or 5 goals a game when Osgood is in the net, we cannot win. Right? Then, isn't that pretty much a conclusion?

Suppose the cap will not change in the future, then let's sign with Hossa. If not, then let's consider more carefully. We have 10 million cap right now for the next season. First of all, we cannot keep both Hossa and Franzen, more realistically state, we do not have to. Besides, do not forget we have to sign with Leino who is our best prospect. Goalie issue on the Wings has been talked since we failed so many times in the playoff. Last year and 06-07 season were different because same time, Osgood and Hasek have been terrific each season. What I am stating is that we have no chance to be successful in the playoff with this Osgood right now. It is not his fault, or whose fault is this.. If the puck goes into the net and let opponents to score, that is a defense problem but also goalie problem. Goalie is the part of defense. Goalie is there to stop the puck when defenses misplay. Isn't that pretty much telling? Osgood allowed 7 goals last night. Well Conklin allowed 1 goal on 6 shots. However, it is not only one time. I remember Conks was awfully bad against the Preds in the beginning but Osgood was no different than that but we have to care that was a back to back game. Last night was totally a fluke. We had 3 days off for the rest and practice but that was the result of playing with a poor goalie. If you see deeply, how many times can you guys say to feel comfortable when Osgood is in the net compare to Conklin is in the net? When there is PK situation or breakaway, most people here probably do not expect the Wings' goalies to stop, espeically Osgood right now. But Conklin feels more comfortable than Osgood for that. How many times has Osgood allowed goals through the 5-hole? That has been the issue whole season but nothing changed. Osgood is just a terrible goalie this season. Then, some people may hope he will bounce back because he had only few good games. Doesn't every goalie in the NHL have at least few good games? At least from my view, it is. I do not know what will happen to our goalies for the rest of the season, but I at least rather to put confidence on Conklin than Osgood because Conklin wants more and played better so far

You are just Osgood protector and Conklin basher. Is stats a joke? Around 2.33 GAA and .914 save percentage is enough. Conklin has not been terrific but enough. How about Osgood? Enough? What a pathetic statement that would be. He has been the worst goalie of the season from the beginning of the season to now and maybe to the end of this season and be a failure. What I am saying is it is good you still support Osgood, but do not underestimate Conklin' this season's performance. 6 shutouts are not jokes. Few of those games were against weak teams but let me list teams: Sharks, Hawks, Kings, Oilers, Blue Jackets, Blues(I think?). Can you say so many s***ty teams here? Not many probably. Sharks, Hawks are good teams and BJ just beat us when Osgood is in the net. Do not remember who said Conklin was lucky because he played against weak teams and I agree some but is Sharks, Hakws, and Blue Jackets are camouflaged to the weak teams when I did not watch Hockey? Then ok, if my statement is wrong, by your logic, Osgood is worse. Then who do we have to build the confidence on? Osgood? Because of experience? Then we may better bring up Cujo and build the confidence on him

Isn't that a pretty much deal? Nick will retire in the future but we are stacked up with Rafalski, Kronwall, and Stuart, who are not playing whole defensively but better offensively. This kind of topic started to come up to the surface of our problem few years ago. However, last season was Osgood's season, best GAA, best Sv percentage, incredible playoff performance. Now, Osgood will never bounce back and people here do not like Howard's performance. We can somehow trade Rafalski. Before that, do not forget we can trade Osgood. It does not matter how loyal this team is to the group of players. If any player is playing poorly, that means the mangnificient chance of getting traded.

I am sick of seeing this kind of post. Why does it matter how many cups he has won? Yes Osgood has won some cups. You watched no Canucks games. On 07 playoff, for the first game as the Playoff starter, Luongo made like 60 saves. Then, by your logic, Luongo should be sucks because he did not have any experience. Find the truth. Just Osgood protectors now think Osgood is still good. Go to other teams' forums or talk to other fans. They do not even think Osgood is an average goalie this season. Osgood is the worst goalie this season and no doubt to argue about that. Then, when the playoff time comes up, and Osgood has still improved none, are you gonna say we have to start him because of only exprience? You are joker. Then bring Patrick Roy on the net.

Get Harding by the cap from not resigning Franzen. Then, when Nick's contract is over, get Luongo.

Somehow, I am not afraid the matchup against the Flames, Hawks, and the Sharks. Remember last season? We played great since the 1st round. We struggled against the Preds in the first round. That pattern hasn't changed. We do not play at our best when we play against weak teams. It is not a cup hangover or others. The 1st round will be very tough for us. Idealically, we will meet Jackets, Preds, or some other teams. By this poor effort on average teams, no surprise even though we will be kicked out in the 1st round

I still hope Osgood will improve rest of the season but that looks impossible. As you said, if you go out and see the journals of professional hockey journalists, they say Osgood is a garbage this season. The problem is people do not realize it. Is it just a great expectation or reasonless love on Osgood? People have to know Osgood should be very resposibile for every goal. There is no sentence that this goal is his fault or not. That is a brutal joke as the fan of the NHL. If the slump is more than 3 months, that is not a slump. What is that called? FAILURE

I did not know the Sharks, and Hawks are garbage teams. And as you just said, sometimes team's potential comes into play, there was Conklin. Isn't that pretty much a deal? Think about it. I played hockey as a defense and still do. When you have a reliable goalie on the back, you can play more comfortable because even though you make little mistakes, the goalie will be able to cover up. However, when you have a terrible goalie like Osgood now, you cannot play comfortable because you have too much pressure on keeping the puck well. I know Conklin is an umproven goalie even though he is having a good season with us but we have two choices right now. Osgood, who has a tremendous experience of playoff, and Conklin who has only few minutes of experience. If we have to choose one right now, I will choose Conklin over Osgood while many others will choose Osgood. I know the experience on goalie is very significant during the playoff but experience is only experience. There is hell no chance Osgood will have a success by this performance. I kind hoped Osgood would bounce back but that was only two games, shutout against the Blues and the Kings. Now as you mentioned ,as Conklin got lucky on weak teams, Osgood got lucky on weak teams. Then why are stats between two goalies are very different? Did NHL love Conklin over Osgood and they changed the stats of Conklin? No. If you really watched many of the Wings games this season, you probably realized Osgood is always out of his position and having a slow reaction. I meant, when the playoff time comes up, the most important position is goalie, not defenses or offenses. This team by far has gotten no goalie who really can take this team to far in the playoff. Then, if there is none, we have to build the confidence on goalie. I agreed that we have to build a confidence on both but first Osgood because he has more experience. However, now I think we would rather build the confidence on Conklin. Remember, Osgood was not successful in any other teams when he left the Wings. He had some but not as much as he was in the Wings. I think people here overestimate Osgood. If you go out and ask other teams' fans, Osgood is not even considered as a starter. I have tons of firends who watch hockey but no one says Osgood is a great goaltender. Again, I am not bringing up the disgrace upon Osgood but this season is not his season. We have only one month left and this is the time we have to prepare for the playoff, not just testing which goalie will be our starter. Don't get me wrong. I am scared of the Wings meet Jackets in the first round. They reminded me consider them as the Flames and Oilers who beat us just few years ago by only one good goalie.

Holland will make a deal on the TD. WOW, I do not know who wrote this but absolutely a joker of the NHL. By the way, it is nice to get blown out right now. Can we please!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-0 to Preds and 8-2 to Jackets, can those games finally wake up these guys up from the laziness? And, get a goaltending!!!!!!!!!!!!! Conks will be gone next season and Osgood is a backup for rest of his contract

I do not think Osgood is playing bad but I do not get people who say he plays enough good right now. He allowed 4 goals and no excuse for that; goalie should be responsible for every goal. Remember first 2 goals by the deflection. When there is a deflection, you expect goalie to make a save even though it is tough. However, when Osgood is in the net, how many times can you say you expect him to make a save? Not many times. How about Conklin? Not many times but he sometiems do. It is only one game and I thought losing 8-0 to Preds could make this team being motivated again like last season. However, was that a fluke illusion? This team is playing with no effort when they do not play against the top teams in the league. I never see this team played that many perfect games against the weak teams. Youngguns1340, I see your point and I am on your side. I regret the contract with Rafalski for 6 million. He is good offensively but unlike last season, he is playing awful defensively. He is now 35 I think? It is the time he will decline down. There cannot be any improvement from his playing right now. The only positive fact is that Ericsson will be on this team but do you expect this team's defense will get better next season? Hell now. This team's defenses are not like 20 years old. Already stacked up talent but play lazy. If Nick comes to the end of his career, we cannot play any good defensive hockey as past few seasons. Thats why I want a good goalie on this team. What ridiculous goaltending are you guys expecting from this team in the future? Osgood and Howard? That is a joke. Osgood cannot be better than now. His age is the time that any player is getting worse. Then sign with Conklin? Didn't Osgood protectos just say he is a career back up? And you guys said career backup cannot be consistent. Then what? We have to score then 10 goals every game because we will allow 5 goals every game. Now, do you guys still think we have to sign with both Hossa and Franzen for a long term? Let's get only Hossa and sign with one good goalie until Luongo will be FA. If we sign both Hossa and Franzen, where are you gonna get the cap space for a good goalie? Are we gonna be the Flyers? Know the truth. We need a goalie not for only this season but for the long future.

I think he played good and surely 4 goals were not all his fault but like Mason right now, Ozzie has to make big stops too. This game is all Babcock's fault. Separated Datsyuk and Zetterberg. What a ridiculous line up that was: Zetterberg + Maltby
