No, actually, in regards to this year at least. It is the stats, and overall play which make this a fact, not opinion. I mean he is ranked 40 plus in GAA and 35 plus in SV% - and has been there the ENTIRE year. I am curious as too what it would take for you to acknowledge the fact Osgood has been pitiful this year?
-
I know. The Kumbaya crew as I like to call it.
-
Ya I hear you, but you gotta realize that a lot of that fallout is due to the fact this is not really an isolated incident, at least this year to say the least. I mean it gets to a point (Ozzie's consistent below then avg. play, blowouts, getting shut out by the worst team in the league, defensive lapses that are horrible to say the least, etc) I agree with you on a lot of your points, but I don't think you can make a statement like this without realizing why the fallout happens the way it does.

Ha ha, I love how the Wings have to literally circle the net whenever any type of activity flares up in their zone. Yo usee them ducking, diving, anything they have to do in order to stop the puck before it gets to Ozzie/inside the net.

NAYSAYERS!
-
What does that even mean? The naysayers? Do you not think that there has been times where the Wings have played like absolute s***? Does it make you a naysayer if you discuss it? Fine, then I am a naysayer I suppose, and I guess that makes people who do not question any aspect of their game, or any player when they are stinking it up completely, and utterly naive. HAHAHA. I really think we would be in the same situation if we dressed NO goaltender half the nights, and just took the extra skater instead.

Why would anyone complain about someone playing good? I mean it's like saying "why do people only ***** about work when things are going bad at the jobsite, and not when things are running smoothly." Duh. When someone is paid millions of dollars to play a sport, is followed loyally by thousands of fans across the country, etc. They are subject to nitpicking when they play bad. GOAL

I hear ya on this one. I used to get so mad that my day or night would be ruined. Now I do as you advise and it's a lot better.

Ha ha I love it. Lets see how many games at home we can lose to non-playoff/bubble teams. It has gotten to the point where the Wings are more frustrating then anything else. Interesting too is the fact Nashville played last night and had to deal with a time change. That is our usual go to whenever we lose on the second night of a back-to-back. I wonder why it isn't effecting them like it does us.

Besides the whole fact that no team has gone on to win the Stanley Cup whose #1 goalie in the regular season had a GAA over a 3.00 since Patrick Roy in 1992. Throw that pesky little thing aside and you are right. Not only is Osgoods sub par at best performance this year no reason, or "leg to stand on" in regards to reasons to be worried - but I'll one up you and just say it - Goal tending doesn't matter in the playoffs period. Good, bad or non-existent the Wings will win the Cup. Now I just wish all these "worry some about shotty goal tending on a consistent basis throughout the regular season" crowd would just settle down and shut up.

Nice to see the Wings with their heads in the right place tonight. Finally even up with San Jose in games played and we decide to show up with little to no desire in beating the leagues worst team.

SEAN AVERY here. I am far from the biggest guy, I am somewhat into fashion (not to the extent he is but what can ya do), I often think before I speak - which just as often usually gets me in trouble, I can be obnoxious when I want to, I love getting under peoples skin, I am cocky and throughout my 13 years in which I played hockey, I spent about 11 of them at LW - just like my man with a plan Sean Avery.

Ya I just got done watching this game via the 6 disk Red Wings "Celebration of Champions" set that a couple people mentioned earlier in the thread. That game was unreal. Simply put, the best game I have ever seen. I remember watching it in the basement with my dad. I was young, but a devout Wing fan none the less. Anyways I remember we literally had gone out and bought a bunch of junk food and ordered pizza for the game - definitely a family event. Talk about intense man, wow. When the big one finally popped off me and my dad were both screaming louder then I ever really getting over a sports event. I was screaming while jumping on the couch next to my dad who was kept it on the ground. Never forget that game, ever. One of the best memories of my life.

Wow, do you quote hockey analysts without citing them as a resource all the time, or just once in a while? Go watch football if you like that garbage.
-
Ya. But then again I think the vast majority of us would get our ass whooped by any NHL player.
-
The delayed "kidding" actually got me. I just saw the first part and was thinking to myself, "wow, I thought I was critical." Ha ha, good form though, good form.
-
More like, too busy watching the replay of Sammy on the jumbotron -- laughing.
-
It just baffles me - that while being punched in the face, the man still didn't fight back. I mean it goes against the most basic human nature we have.
-
He literally refused to drop the gloves. Even as he was being punched by a guy who had already dropped his.
-
Wow, that was embarassing to say the least.

Great fight, I have to say I loved watching that little puke get absolutely, unequivocally DEMOLISHED. While Tootoo is tough, you have to realize he is one of the biggest spotpicking cheapshots in the league. That's the beauty of the NHL, cheap shot artists, no matter who they are, get it back sooner then later. You say Staubitz was throwing elbows? Well, I didn't see it, I didn't see it at all. He may have clipped him while folloing through and pulling back, but if you have ever thrown punches like that you would know that he wasn't throwing elbows as a form of offense. But I will give you the benefit of the doubt -- let's say Staubitz was throwing elbows - Good. I wish he threw more, and I wish he threw them harder. Tootoo deserves anything and everything he gets -- literally: These are just a sample of this prick's "greatest cheap shots" collection. He is a punk, he deserves nothing in terms of respect and when it comes to retribution I will cheer anything that comes his way.

I hear you about Gomez for sure. We have some depth in the middle when you think about it: I mean we got Paul Stansney in the mix who could easily center the Parise - Kane line. Maybe look a little something like this: 2010 USA Olympic Lineup: Zach Parise - Paul Statsny - Patrick Kane Bobby Ryan - Tim Connolly - Phil Kessel Dustin Brown - Joe Pavelski - Jamie Langenbrunner © David Booth - Ryan Kesler (A) - David Backes Brian Rafalski - Paul Martin Ryan Suter - Keith Ballard Mike Komisarek (A) - Tom Gilbert Brooks Orpik Ryan Miller Tim Thomas Rick Dipietro Then watch the NFL, with a emphasis on the Cincinnati Bengal's Chad "Ocho Cinco" Johnson. The following videos pretty much sum it up: Yzerman's 500th career goal: Modano's 500th Goal: Mats Sundin Scores His 400th Goal: Hossa's 300th career goal as well as an OT game winner: Jaromir Jagr's 600th Career Goal: Yzerman's 600th Goal: I mean you could keep going with examples of guys who hit pretty big milestones, and undoubtedly were happy about it -- at times celebrating it -- but none of these guys did anything close to the showboating and tacky celebration we saw last night. I really don't care much, I don't have a dog in the fight. I just think that hockey is different then other pro sports, where the swagger and "look at me, I'm so good" mentality is not as prevalent and dominating then say the NFL.

GOAL!!!
-
No one is perfect, NHL players included. This isn't much in regards of "morally challenged", I mean was it wrong what he did? Sure, I guess, but then again I wasn't living in their house, their lifes, and don't know what they were going through. Heck, he looks like a saint compared to so many NBA players getting killed with child supports payments (IE: Jason Caffey who is 34 and according to wikipedia has 10 children by 8 women.) But ya, I try to not pass judgment in regards to one's personal and more specifically, family life.
-
I think it was tacky and in poor taste to tell you the truth. The more I think about it, the more I think it is out of line. You would have never seen Yzerman pull something like that -- and it is not a "euro" thing either. Hank wouldn't do it, Dats wouldn't do it, Sundin never would have done it, Larianov would have never done it, I mean the list can go on forever. It's not a "euro"/non-euro thing - It is a class/no-class thing, and it's judged on a player by player basis, not their ethnicity. Regarding the Olympics... Just remember these names: Parise-Gomez-Kane TEAM USA! FTW!
