LOL -- Thank you for saying it. It blows my mind that a statement such as the one you were replying are even made, let alone applauded. It is a message board for a sports franchise -- to expect there to be no reaction to the s*** show we were inundated with tonight is insane.
-
LOL, I picked up on that. Well seeing as though they pretty much took the night off last night against LA, and more or less didnt show up tonight against Nashville is it OK to say they will be well rested for their next game?
-
Right on. I just hope that you understand the difference between "fair weather fans" and those fans who are sickened when their team gives up 5 goals in the first 10 minutes to the 28th ranked offense in the league. But I am sure you already have taken that into account seeing as though you are the "know all, be all" in regards to everything and eneryone on this board and about the Red Wings in general.
-
Holy s***! The Griffins did tie it up at 2. Less then a minute left in the third.
-
Wowowow -- hold up a second. Coldstone has "cake batter" ice cream? I am going now to get some if this is true (and if the coldstone by me is open.) Is it amazingly good or just good, good?
-
Damn, Grand Rapids just pulled within 1 goal with 6 minutes left. McCarty with another assist (2nd point in 2 games) -- Maybe they can net one more and push it to OT.
-
Right on, I hear what you are saying. Man this one is nauseating. Blame is placed on everyone on the visiotrs bench in Nashville -- they all equally deserve blame. As far as Lilja goes, I love the guy, have loved the guy, and love the fact he really is the only guy we have who fights more then once in a blue moon -- but man was his showing against Weber weak. What can ya do though.
-
Honestly bro, the refs are the LAST of our problems tonight. Hell, we have such a laundry list tonight, I am not even sure the refs make the list. I know you are looking for a scapegoat, but for once the refs and/or singling out our goaltending aren't viable.
-
LOL, I was actually just thinking about that actually. Then Lilja got manhandled and I began to focus on the embarassment of that -- that too was short lived as the Preds scored shortly there after.
-
Just when you though this game couldn't get any more embarassing, Lilja gets his ass kicked, then they score their 6th goal. Wow.
-
Oh, so you are aware he has ripped Crosby hard as hell more then once right?

Osgood and Flip. In my opinion Flip is simply no better, nor will be better down the road then a third line center (possibly a second line center depending on the team he's on.) Flip is absolutely invisible when he is on the ice -- He is timid, when he does shoot he either misses the net or puts it right on the goaltenders chest. He is on the PK, but seeing as though our PK is far from elite I really don't think that says much about anything in favor of him. The difference between Ozzie and Flip also is that while Ozzie is having a rough year, he has proven himself time and time again as a member of the Red Wings while Flip hasn't been around long enough to do so. But if we are looking to free up a chunk of salary cap room, I think Flip and the 3 million a year he's getting paid would be the best option, but who knows.

I don't know if you watch Coach's Corner alot but over the past couple years Cherry has held absolutely nothing back in regards to criticizing Crosby. He actually ripped him multiple times, and in a pretty severe way just last year. Comments like the ones Cherry made about Ovechkin are what makes him Grapes. Some people like it, or at least realize it's Cherry being Cherry, and others don't -- and often find themselves offended and/or angry. Personally I love Grapes, I could watch just him for hours on end, but I can definitely see why some may not like him. It's definitely an acquired taste to say the least.

I hate Lapierriere with a passion, but he isn't a goon, I mean he will fight (his spot picking is pretty bad) whenever he has too but a goon? No. He's got 10 goals and 7 (17 points) so far this season, and two years back he had himself a 30 point season. So he is definitely not a goon, I still don't want him at all -- not as a rental, depth guy, anything. I am not really interested in Roberts either to be completely honest.
-
Great guy, hope he finds a team that will appreciate him a little bit more then the Habs did. But as far as the Red Wings picking him up -- nope. I loved the guy when he was here as I assume most fans do, but we don't need him. We are not lacking speed on the blueline, we are actually fine in that department, we need size -- and someone who can muscle guys from in front of the net, something we haven't been able to do as well this year as we have in years past.

Oh, I agree with you in regards to loving the fact Cleary plays that type of game, and a hit that literally put Thornton through the boards would be something else (even though I don't like seeing anyone get hurt to the point they can't play, especially if they get hurt by the intentional actions of an opposing player). I am just saying if you play devils advocate, and ask yourself if the roles were reversed, Thornton puts the same hit on Cleary, people around here would be upset. That said, I guess it boils down to one of those sports situations where it all depends on who you ask, and what team they were cheering for.
-
I'll put it like this -- If the same exact same hit was put on one of our stars (Zett, Dats, etc) 99% of these boards would be up in arms about it. That said, I am glad Cleary hit him, I think hits like those make ppl start thinking where you are when you're on the ice, thus taking away from their concentration. But in regards to the hit itself in terms of "dirty" or "clean" I guess the answer comes down to who you are asking and what team they were rooting for.

Ya he has been something else. During the game tonight, as he was exhibiting it, Mick mentioned how well the guy protects and controls the puck and he is correct about that. Love the guy, and am looking forward to having him in the lineup in both the playoffs and next year from start to finish.

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?

I think you may have misinterpreted what I was saying. I really have no desire to bring Laraque aboard - really, none whatsoever. I was just saying that with him on the market, that may bring down the price of Neil somewhat since Neil will no longer be the only gritty, tough guy who is willing to fight whoever, whenever on the market. It may do nothing to Neil's price, seeing as though Neil is actually a decent hockey player and Big George, well, we'll just say isn't as good. But who knows. -
Please, that was a fluke. Larry and Mick touched on that immediately after Hossa headed to the dressing room.
-
Sammy has looked really good tonight, I mean really good. Anyone else feel butterflies waiting to hear about Hossa?
-
What a save by Conklin. How refreshing it is too have a goalie making big saves in big games.

Here is some good news, well depending on who you are I suppose it could be good or bad news. Anyways, Montreal's George Laraques has asked for and is expecting to be traded. LINK With Laraque out on the market now that will subsequently bring down Neil's value because he will no longer be the top tier "tough guy" on the market. Please, do not take this as me saying I want to get Laraque, I don't, I want to get Neil and this news hopefully betters the chances of that happening. We'll have to wait and see though. -

Unfortunately that is a bye product of having a successful team year in and year out -- the fans expectations bar rises. It really isn't a "good" or "bad" thing, rather it's a fact of life in regards to all professional sports teams, not just the Red Wings and not just in the city of Detroit. -
