From ESPN: So much for "Throwback Olympics Hockey".

We've got two games this morning; Russia - Slovenia on CBC and Slovakia - USA on TSN. Two games of Slo-hockey. Life is good.

The three-part series Sherlock will be aired on PBS's Masterpiece Mystery, with the first episode starting this Sunday. I have never been a big fan of detective mysteries or the works of Sir AC Doyle. The series has already aired on the cable network channel Showcase in Canada. I watched and I thought it was great. The series brings Holmes into present day, complete with laptop computers and cell phones. The series has been picked up for a second season; they only did three episodes to begin, not knowing what was in the future. The way the third episode ends tells you that. CBC. Too late? Just to b perfectly clear, CBC refers to their coverage as a "webcast" and is partly being unwritten by funds that come out of my pocket, being a Canadian citizen and taxpayer.

This goes way above and beyond trying to make more money for the League and, in the end, justifying the exorbitant salary paid to be the head. This boils down to a battle of wills: NHL v. IIHF. If there is any way that Uncle Gary can fulfill his dream, without having to go through Rene Fasel, he will try to.

From NHL: Uncle Gary sez... This "epiphany" comes from his economic reality of all the money he could make, from areas such as merchandise sales and increased ticket prices, just to name a couple. Keep in mind that he is one of the greatest "control freaks", who also happens to be the head of a major sport, of all-time.
