gdt 1/16 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Rangers 1
cusimano_brothers replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
That was a great team: they finished the season with a nine-game winning streak and a twelve-game unbeaten streak ('member those?), one of them being the "Richard Riot" game. At home, they finished with a five-game winning streak and an eighteen-game unbeaten streak. Away, they finished with a four-game winning streak and a six-game unbeaten streak. In the final two games, Montreal lead Detroit in the race for first overall and only needed one point to clinch in their last two games v. Detroit. That didn't happen, as Detroit won both games and their seventh consecutive Prince of Wales Trophy as League Champions, a record that will never be broken. Three one-goal shutout losses after the first forty-seven games ties with 1928-29 and 1954-55. Three one-goal shutout losses is also the Club record in a season, tied with 1928-29, 1954-55, 1969-79 and 2002-03. -

This is only the second time the Club has been beaten in consecutive games by a one-goal shutout and the first time since 11/11 and 13/11/1954. -
Would Samuelsson ever consider retiring mid-season?
cusimano_brothers replied to RedSea's topic in General
If he did, he could get a management position as a "gofer" for Chelios. -

Putting fans in the seats is relatively easy. Having them come back is the hard part. Just ask the brass at NASCAR. -
Oilers trade Dubnyk to Preds; Receive Scrivens from LAK
cusimano_brothers replied to WingsallTheway's topic in General
This is the same "Scrivens" who was supposed to be the "next-big-thing" in goaltending in Toronto? Slip slidin' away... At least the head coach knows him. -
After the same number of games (forty-six) ,comparing last season to this: Two fewer regulation wins, same number of regulation losses and two fewer total points this season

They are currently one-for-2014. Paul Maurice has learned what a class act Claude Noel is. -
Few people know the subtleties of marketing a brand name like Chaim Witz. He could teach Uncle Gary a thing or three.

Nothing defines the game of hockey better than Kiss and sunscreen. Uncle Gary had better wear a big floppy hat and be sitting in the shade. If not, he'll become one small blister.

Winnipeg Jets relieve coach Claude Noel and assistant Perry Pearn

They sellout every game and yet they're twenty-fourth in average attendance? This firing is all about the bottom line and how for some fans, the honeymoon is over in the 'peg (though this article was written before the hammer fell). -

A series of outdoor games by the Association, complete with corporate sponsorship, would solve this problem, but seems rather unlikely. -
So, I was standing in line to get my weeks ration of stale bread and a hockey game broke out.

Still waiting for that first smile. -
From Buffalo News: A step in the right direction; at least it's a start.

I wonder if his recent success is somehow linked to the "system" used by Jon Cooper? If his agent was smart, he'd start talking about a contract extension right about...now.

Cleary should be suspended for elbow to head

I've heard that that the League has someone who is in charge of dealing with "player safety", matters just like this: Apparently, he's been the best on the job since: -
I was curious about this as well. According to the Oilers' 2013-14 Media Guide, Kevin Lowe is: Whatever. According to a fine article from the Edmonton Journal, team owner Daryl Katz will soon be rolling in it: Nothing worse than trying to keep any arena filled, lei alone a new one, especially when the on-ice product isn't worth watching. Then again, they have about three seasons to try to turn it around before the new ice opens up. One more thing: Rogers Communications is the work of the Devil.

From NHL: How soon is now? Don't want to screw up the "season ticket renewal" season.

Will he be ready for Sochi 2014?
