The Club kept the original nickname it had when it was in Victoria, BC. Prior to the 1930-31 season, the Detroit newspapers thought that a new nickname would change the fortunes of the Club; in their first four seasons, they had a record of 64W-87L-15T. All of the daily papers in Detroit ran the contest at the same time. "Falcons" was the winner, beating out the likes of "Trojans", "Wanderers" and "Magnetos". This nickname stayed for two seasons when Mr. Norris bought the franchise and changed it for the final time. -
