I just had to look this up: it happened once all of last season. Good call.

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler
cusimano_brothers replied to PRStoetzer's topic in General
I think that a two-minute minor penalty for hooking should now be referred to as a "Hudler". -
Inching that much closer to the Cup; from The Globe and Mail:

And, with the ink of his signature dried, this; from TSN : Maybe his stall in the dressing room is going to be next to Heatley. Or, he's realized that Ottawa already has a captain.

Downey / Downie. Take your pick.

Former Wings Coach Jacques Demers
cusimano_brothers replied to Yellowknife Redwing's topic in General
Senator Jacques Joseph Denis Demers. That's got a nice ring to it. To me, his most notable accomplishments have been: 1) The Head Coach of the last team in Canada to win the Stanley Cup 2) In his first two years with the Club as Head Coach, he took them to the Western Conference Final against the power-house Oilers and, most importantly 3) He had the vision, as the new Head Coach of the Club, to appoint Mr. Yzerman as Captain. Congratulations, Senator! -
Good luck in Hamilton.

There were too many "sources say" and "sources tell" in this, so... From TSN : ...

This is why defence lawyers make the really big bucks. As part of the Judge's decision, the Kanes will both be locked in a room and be forced to watch this .

Horcoff mad about Heatley trade attempt

That always struck me as a great brand name for a expectorant. -
From sportsnet dot ca : That "Career Potential Train" has come and gone, especially at $1.5M. See you at the "Triage Tent".

IIHF refuses to grant transfer card to Jiri Hudler
cusimano_brothers replied to PRStoetzer's topic in General
What is odd: the article from mlive dot com is dated August 3rd. The link provided to the original article in Russia is August 3rd. The link from the article in the Edmonton Journal is August 26th. Life moves a lot slower in Edmonton. Maybe Dany Heatley is right. Regarding Hudler: just to be on the safe side, change the locks. -

It's sad to see DirecTV do their negotiating with Versus out in the open like this, but it happens all the time. DirecTV is basically saying "Versus' rating are worse than bad and they want too much money for us to carry them". If Versus stands firm on the amount they want, DirecTV has three options: 1) pay 2) try to negotiate a lower figure and pay 3) walk. If 2) is attempted, Versus may then turn to the League to help make up part of the difference. Also, CBC and TSN rock!

May 2, 2009 vs. Manitoba? If that's the game, I've seen the clip but can't find it now. And, Downey somehow avoided a suspension.

I just finished reading "The Road to Woodstock", by Michael Lang. The most interesting fact (among many) in the book: Lang's original choice as the final act to appear at the festival was Roy Rogers, who would have played "Happy Trails".

With a little bit more training, he could become the next Howie Young. -

From TSN : ... ... ... This might be a Murray - Heatley problem. Does anyone have the phone number of the KHL handy for this poor lad?
