    Stanley Cup Swimming....

There are four elements to the story, taking place in 1995; I was listening to the radio the morning it happened: 1) The Howard Stern Show 2) Claude Lemieux 3) The Stanley Cup 4) Jackie Martling.

Longshot but is it possible Penguins could match what Oilers

Winning one Cup is tough enough; winning consecutive Cups is even tougher. But, what took so long?

    Danny Heatley anyone?

But, here is a GM with his own reasons for having no interest; from Toronto Star.

    Danny Heatley anyone?

No...he's just another player who has quickly become "the law of diminishing returns" on skates.

How sweet would a Wings/Pens finals be next year?

Winning the Cup is tough to do; winning consecutive Cups is tougher to do.

    Creepy Crosby

A day late and a dollar short. Of course, "Camp Crosby" could use it as a photo opp. And, there is no American hockey journalist who knows more about the history and the traditions of the League than Mr. Fischler.

That is funny. Then again, as a Chicago fan, "The Committed Indian" had more time to work on this than first anticipated.

    Coyotes staying in Phoenix

The creditors who are owed money by the Club in Phoenix must sit and wait even longer because, thanks to the Judge's ruling on Monday, the League now gets to do things on their timetable. Who's handling the "auction"... Sotheby's?

Ah, a tax deduction for Mr. Lemieux.

Congrats, Pittsburgh... hope next time you have to earn it!

Yes, I saw that; there were lots of people dressed up as empty seats. So, why did it take so long?

Draper ticked that Crosby snubbed Lidstrom

From Toronto Star. Is Crosby still living in the basement?

    Chris Pronger

No. The penalty-killing units would be out there non-stop.

Books on the history of the NHL

The book is in need of an update (there has been only one since it was first published), but "Total Hockey" is my favourite affordable book on the sport: sportsclassicbooks dot com. My favourite unaffordable book set is "The Trail of the Stanley Cup: Vols. 1, 2, 3", By Charles L. Coleman antiqbook dot com.. The set covers hockey games from the "challenge series"until the final season before expansion, with details of every game played for the Stanley Cup. He includes highlights of League meetings with the Governors of the Clubs, results of every regular season game and playoff game played from 1917-18, including final League scoring and goaltending results. I have used these volumes on my trips to the HHOF's Resource Centre. If you ever find this set in a used bookstore or at a garage sale and the price is right, scoop it up; you won't be disappointed.
