Ah, but when he masterminds the bringing of the Cup back to Toronto and that parade is winding its way through Cabbagetown and past Allan Gardens...

The Inspector even tried that "I really didn't hear the question" routine. SSDD.

When I think of Las Vegas, I always think of: 1) Wayne Newton 2) Celine Dion 3) Carrot Top 4) A future home for an NHL club.

Sid??? What kind of... Hello Gar, this is Sid.

The Ultimate Canadiens Team Players were chosen by position they played. A maximum of eight HHOF members could be chosen. Once the first line was selected, players who played on a second only in their career were chosen, and so on. Same for defence pairings and same for goalies.

Not one minute was watched the entire extended weekend. Period.

Let them have their rest. And then the Club's best response to this is to have a hot post-ASG stretch. But Bettman will claim "I didn't read the comments, one our employees told me about it".

Agreed. Some of the press does too: Ovi

Somewhere in Russia, over a nice bowl of borsch and a bottle of vodka, Ray Emery is laughing like hell.

Earliest selections were from the Lach-Richard era, shutting out Morenz, Vezina and Lalonde. Maurice Richard was the highest scoring left-shot, right winger in history. When he was a junior-age forward playing for a senior level team, he played as a left winger, but it was noticed that he might be more effective on his wrong wing. This suggestion from his coach there was not taken seriously by the parent Club. When called up to Montreal, he scored two goals and broke an ankle two months later, in the same game, playing on the left side. Coach Dick Irvin Sr. then put him on right wing permanently. Also, I wonder why no Coach was chosen. Is Hector Blake the obvious choice here?

http://www.thestar.com/sports/article/570634 According to Paul Kelly, who was interviewed by Ron MacLean, prior to the HNIC broadcast of the Montreal - Ottawa game Saturday. Kelly kind of took a swipe at the NHL and the ASG by saying that the representation that matters is that each of the 30 Clubs has a player representative involved.

Lidstrom & Datsyuk suspended for skipping ASG
cusimano_brothers replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
Thanks for the kind words. People often forget, or are not aware of, the fact that the heads of these Leagues are originally, by occupation... LAWYERS! -
They did and it didn't take long for them to do it. They opened versus Los Angeles in England in 2007 and Brian Burke moaned about how they were never able to recover from those two games.

I saw the "highlights" from yesterday's events on TSN this morning. What does come to mind is this: Put a tent over that circus.

I'm waiting for tomorrow's coverage on CBC, for Ron MacLean's' interview of Inspector Gadget. But that should be available on the cbc dot ca website. Bonus!

Here's another swell idea from Inspector Gadget. Soon to be available at shop nhl dot com: Available in all 30 NHL team colours. And, bravo to Mr. Babcock. -
In a Nutshell Ouch!

Bettman suspends Lidstrom, Datsyuk 1-game each
cusimano_brothers replied to Reds4Life's topic in General
Incoming: another log for "The Crosby Fire". According to TSN, there was a conference call between the League, Pittsburgh and The NHLPA. The question from Pittsburgh was: what does Crosby have to do in order to play Tuesday? The answer: strap yourself to a gurney and get to Montreal ASAP. And, apparently, that's what's he's doing. After all, he is the face. -

This just in from Pittsburgh: Sidney Crosby is now listed with two (2) injuries: 1) A lower-body injury: his knee and 2) An upper-body injury: whip marks. -
...and hosted by Pierre McGuire.

From the DRW website: "Ken Daniels begins his 12th season as the Red Wings’ television play-by-play announcer after joining the team from CBC television where he covered Toronto Maple Leafs hockey and the Stanley Cup playoffs on Hockey Night in Canada". That would make it 1997. You mean that after after watching Fedorov for the last 5 seasons he was in Detroit, Daniels couldn't come up with a special description?

I wonder if it's too late for Inspector Gadget to consider a "runway show" at the ASG to trot out these new duds?

From January 20, 2009: "Newly-acquired goaltender Dany Sabourin was placed on waivers today". Something to do with his big salary. I don't see anything about him being claimed from Edmonton.
