John Shannon, NHL Insider and HockeyCentral Analyst, was on the Tim & Sid show on SN590 The Fan on Wednesday and summed it up quite nicely: if the new schedule was released by the League first, it would show a two-week blank which would ruin the element of surprise. He guessed that Sochi 2014 was about "ninety-eight percent" resolved and that an announcement on that would come on "Thursday or Friday or Monday". Or, in the sweet by and by. Besides, Florida fans don't really need to know the schedule in advance; they can just walk up to box office, slap down their money and buy their front-row seats an hour before game time.

I'm guessing "the plan" is now on hold.
