Ten years ago this season the Detroit Red Wings won what I feel is the greatest Cup of the Detroit Red Wings or at least the greatest Cup I've been alive to see. This was the year that the Red Wings took some huge steps in an attempt to win the Franchises 10 Stanley Cup. Getting The Dominator, Golden Brett, Lucky Luc and some other great players to help build an All-Star caliber team that did indeed win a Stanley Cup Championship. I call this the greatest Red Wings Cup becasue a lot of our players already on the team deferred alot of money to make room for these guys and even some of them took less money to come to Detroit. It was a somewhat bumpy road for this team late in the season after wrapping up the Prsident's Trophy and even in the playoffs losing the first two games Vs Vancouver and having a very grueling 7 game series Vs the Avs and even losing the first game of the Cup finals Vs Carolina in OT. The Red Wings fought through all of that and won their 10th Stanley Cup. This thread is for anyone and everyone who wants to share a memory our just a comment about that season and what it meant to you when the Wings Won!!

First off ummm Southeast Division???????????? Unless I'm reading a Map wrong Detroit is NORTH????? Secondly exactly why do we want the Wings to move East?? Yes it would probably mean more Eastern Conference teams for the Wings to play and for us fans to see but aren't the Wings doing fine in the West?? I mean Numerous Divisional Championship, 5 Conference (Playoff) Championships, Not sure how many President's Trophy Championships since being in the West and 4 Stanley Cup Championships?? What is the big incentive for the Wings to move East and why do so many Wings fans want to move east?? I'm just wondering, not trying to start anything but I guess I just need to be educated.

97 Was FANTASTIC!!!! It was my actual First year as a true Wings fan and the first year I watched the entire season of any Hockey let alone Red Wings Hockey. So yes it was very special to me however people have to realize I wasn't alive through a lot of Detroits hard times and when I was alive I lived down in Louisiana where Hockey was a foreign word the only Ice we every saw was ice cubes we put in our sweet tea. So I didn't have to go through that dreaded Dead Wings era as a Fan and I'm very glad I didn't becasue I have a bad heart anyways and something like that probably would've killed me. So I wasn't as indepth as a Wings fan as many of you were at that time. 97 Was truly Magical as well as 98, I have to say that in 98 I wanted more for Vlady than I did for the Wings Team that season. 98 was really a year Ozzie was under the microscope and did let in a few bad goals in every series except for the SCF Vs Washington but he silenced all his critics and was huge in helping his team win a second strait Stanle Cup so yes the two back2back years were GREAT!! In 01 getting Hasek was like a dream come true for me becasue he was my favorite goalie outside the Wings organization than to add Hullsy and Luc yes as someone on here said it was more or less an expected Championship but for me it really didn't take the thrill out of it. Losing the fist two games of Round 1 to Vancouver I was highly upset and though I didn't lose faith I knew it was going to be tough to come back from that. Than in Game 5 of the Colorado series when it went to OT and both Shanny and SteveY had some great chances to end it and take the 3-2 series lead and than Forsberg I believe it was put home Winner and knowing that Detorit was going back to Colorado for Game 6 I was really stunned. Than the Wings win Game 6 in a shutout and Game 7 in a Blowing Out Shutout and hearing them play Sweet Caroline in the 3rd at the Joe I knew the Wings HAD to win it this season. I didn't get a chance to see the first 4 goals of Game 7 I had some appointments I had to keep and than had to pick up a few things from the store. That night I bought a CCM Wings Pracitice Jersey at Meijer and wore it all the way home while chanting LET'S GO RED WINGS!!!! Than to turn on the TV expectin it to be maybe a one goal game or even worse the Avs leading by 2 or 3 and getting the shock of my life (outside of getting shocked by my defibrulator) when the Wings were up 4-0 was just about the Ultimate for me. Than the three OT Game in Carolina when Larionov Scored to win the game and in game 5 when Shanny gets the empty-netter to seal the deal at the Joe and win the organization's 10th Stanley Cup Championship!!!! So I have alot of very fond memories from 02 and that's why to ME it's the Wings best Championship of the 4 I've seen!! But I do love all the feedback and how you feel about the Stanley Cups the Wings have won in recent history 02 doesn't have to be your best Wings Cup it's just mine.

Detroit: As long as Detroit can stay healthy and have their big guns in the line-up as much as possible I can see us winning another Division Championship Chicago: Strong team but I have to agree with alot of you in saying they have way to much money invested in too few players but I do believe they are getting a little more depth Nashville: Getting stronger and scarier to play. St. Louis: I could actually see St. Louis or Columbus in 4th but I'll say St. Louis, a few more get r dun players Columbus: They are getting better as I saw @ the Prospect Tournament they have some good young players coming up but still lack experience. Should be a great season hopefully Detroit will be at the top of the Division again!! Let's Go Wings!!

Now this was a game where the Wings didn't start that well but finished strong. I liked this type of game better but would still prefer a strong 60 minute game. Glad to see the Wings off to a 2-0 Start!!

Here's my second one. I'll try to find the first one but just so ya know the first one is just the Wings logo nothing special but I'll try to post it. For those of you who think you're to scared or can't handle it. I was born with heart, back, and leg problems. I've had more needles in me than a pin cushion from IV's to Shots, to Drawing Blood. Now there is no way to get used to needles even with everything I've had done and I never thought I'd be able to handle getting one than over a two years ago I met a girl that came to work for the same company that I did she had quite a past and a bunch of really cool tattos and of course I was defiently attracted to her so I figured I'd get a Tattoo. Maybe not the kind of tattoo that she'd be interested in. After all it was my body so I wanted something that represented me so I thought maybe we'd have a little more in common if I got some ink so I got my first Detroit Red Wings Tattoo and of course it never did anything for her. When I made the appoointment for it I was nervous than at the point just minutes before I was in the chair to get it done I had a moment of absolute terror and damn near bailed out, however I had already payed the $70 and I'm a cheap little bastard so I stuck it out and the guy was really cool he printed the logo than put it on my arm and started doing it and before he started he told me he'd just do a little at a time and we could take a break whenever I wanted. I didn't need to take a break and it was a pain that kinda felt good if a pain can really feel good. Now I got this second one in this picture for me becasue I thought it was cool. This one cost $120. I want 3 more Red Wing Themed tattoos two more on like my forearm from my elbow to me wrist with the words DETROIT on my left arm going from elbow to wrist and RED WINGS on my right arm the same way. But becasue I don't have a job right now I can't afford anything. So it's really not that bad at all. For some people it can kinda become and additction like a drug where it does fell pretty good. So for those of you that are a little scared if you really want one start small and you can always go back and get a different one. I'm not sure how to upload photos so hopefully this will do otherwise if you really want to see my ink send me a message and I'll send you my real name and you can facebook me and check out my photos of them. Thanks and Sorry Red Wings Flaming Tattoo.bmp

There are way to many teams this season that are far better and have much more ability to win the Cup before Pittsburgh does it again. EA Sports is just drinking the Kool-Aide of Bettman and his undying love for his bastard son Crosby. Ovechkin gets a Cup before Cry Baby gets it again.

I've been watching this kid in the Prospect Tournament and Wings Training Camp and for his level and development he's done very well and has really impressed me a lot. He definetly still needs a lot of work but perhaps one day we may see him in the NHL. No garuntee that he'll be in a NHL Wings Jersey but give him a some more time and he could be a capable NHL Goalie.

Let's Go Red Wings!!!!
-
Great start to the game but not a great finish. I know it's the first game but the Wings had multiple Power Play chances and didn't capitilize and they started to let a lead slip away. I'm trying not to be to critical of the team being it's just the home opener and game 1 of 82 but I did see a few small things they do need to work on.
-
Just heard last night during the Wings Home Opener that they were going to be acutioning off their Jersey's for the families of the Plane Crash Victims. That's ALL I wanted to know is that more team were involved and that someone wasn't trying to make the Pens and Caps out to be the two great teams of the league. For all intensive purposes I'm done with this thread. Thanks and Sorry.
-
I understand that Malkin and Ovechkin are Russian but so is Datsyuk an so is a lot of other players in the league. My question is WHY these two teams specifically?? Shouldn't the entire NHL have events like this with ALL 30 NHL Teams since there were some former NHL Players that died on the plane? If I'm out of line fine I apologize to anyone and everyone. I just don't see why it's only the Pens and Caps that are doing this. I know Jimmy Howard had the back of his Mask painted in honor of the 3 Fallen Red Wings and that's great. I just don't want this to be a publicity stunt in order to make the Caps and Pens look like the Saints of the NHL when the Plane Crash should have effected the entire NHL. Sorry for making so many people upset of this post but I get a little tired of hearing about these two teams so much every season becasue of a couple players on each team when there are 30 teams with other players just as great and even better.
-
If what I think is happening than I'm disgusted to see this. The Benefit is Fantastic and that's not what I'm upset about; but WHY is it the Pens and Caps doing this. Something tells me that Bettman set this up to make these two teams look this classy. It just so happens that it's Crosby's and Ovechkin's Teams that are doing this. How many players on the plane actually played on the Pens or Caps team?? 3 Former Red Wings died on the plane and yes the Wings went to the Funeral but why aren't they doing something like that. That's more of a thing that I would imagine that Mr. Illitch would set up with the Wings since I truly believe that he is a classy guy. I hope I'm wrong and if I am I'll eat Crow but it just makes me believe that it wasn't truly the idea of these two teams to do this and that there is a mastermind behind it. I know the plane crash did have an effect on Ovechkin at least that's what I heard but it just smells a little fishy to me to make Crosby and Ovechkin and their teams out to be the good guys. If something is going to be done it should envolve the entire NHL. If I'm out of line I apologize.

That's Fantastic, I was really pulling for him to get a 2-Way Deal!! He had a great Camp and really proved that he wanted to be on this team by his play in the preseason. I can't wait to see what he can do in GR and when the Wings will call him up and see what he does there. Nice Job Fabian, good things happen when you're willing to work hard for it.
-
It would be great if he could at least get a two-way deal with us. He probably has outplayed Emmerton but I really can't see Kenny letting Cory go unless he truly believes that Brunnstrom can out play him night in and night out in every aspect of the game. Brunnstrom would provide a little more depth, I know the Wings already are a very deep team but the Wings are famous for adding more and more and it wouldn't hurt to have him at least in GR for call-ups when players get injured. Also think of the coming season's Holmstrom and Bertuzzi won't be on this team forever and he could be a main stay on the roster next season if the Wings can work out a two-way deal for him this season.

4 Players Will be Waived on Monday, 8 Assigned to GR
Dimaline312000 replied to P. Marlowe's topic in General
As long as we don't lose any of them I'm happy. Any word on whether or not Brunnstrom will be offered a Contract or not?? Even if it's two-way deal that would be great to at least have him in our system and be a potential regular call-up when needed. -
As long as it's something new that's gonna be great. I have a lot of Love for the Joe but the Wings definetly need a new Arena and I can't wait to see how it looks and what they will name it. Nothing Amway or anything like that but something that would fit with the Wings or the city of Detroit!!
-
I'd definetly say it deserves a suspension becasue the NHL needs to crack down on all of this but that seems a bit extensive considering all the other rulings. Also I do think it is all the players responsibility to keep your head up and watch where you're going and for any oncoming danger and try to avoid it. I know it can't all be avoided and it can't be taken out of the game completly but the players have to look out for their own saftey.

MacArthur receives 2-game suspension for Abdelkader hit
Dimaline312000 replied to a topic in General
Good call by Shanny, If the NHL is going to start cracking down on this kind of thing than they need to crack down on all of it and early just like they've been doing to send a message to the players that this type of thing isn't gonna fly anymore. I'm glad to see Shanny and the NHL doing this and I think it's an appropriate amount of games and yes I do agree Abs sold it a little bit but it ALL has to be cracked down on if you going to do it. -
I'd love to see him at least get a two-way contract becaue if he can get developed properly which Dallas failed to do he will be a big star. I want to see the guys in our system that have been in our system for a few years get their chances first but iff Brunnstrom can continue to play well I think he will force himself into a some type of contract with Detroit.

9/28 Exhibition GDT: Red Wings at Chicago Blackhawks
Dimaline312000 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
The young guys did GREAT last night aginst the Blackhawks and their big guns. I know they lost and they even blew a 2 goal lead but the young players VS Chicago's Top Players did great IMO I was really impressed with Emmerton, Brunnstrom, Nyquist and Smith and as for the rest of the guys I think they played very well. It could have easily been a blow out for Chicago but Conks and the players in front of him did very well. I'm very optimistic for the Red Wings Future with the players we have in our system. -
Just thought I'd start this for all of you that went to the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp and the NHL Prospect Camp earlier this September. I just wanted to say I had a great time and both events and really learned alot; especially at the Prospects Tournament which seems to be a growing event and that just thrills me. Being able to watch the NHL Prospects practice in the morning and play the games later in the afternoon/evening was tremendous. I thought our Detroit Red Wings Prospects did fairly well. They finished in 7th place and I know that doesn't sound that great but considering seeing the other teams prospects Wings could have finished last in the Tourney. Our young guys have a lot of growing and developing to do but it was great to see where they stood this season. It really puts my mind at ease for the coming seasons as we are in a sense seeing a change in the gaurd as far as players that have been here for years and helped the Wings win it's past 4 Cups start to retire and seeing the prospects and thinking about if they continue to develope well I'm very comfortable that we as fans will still have a team that can contend for a Cup. Brendan Smith was the Captain of the Prospects team and to see him now he really looks good. I'm not sure whether the Wings will bring him up this season or not but if they did I think he'd be pretty good and even better in the coming years as long as he gets plenty of chance to play. Tomas Jurco the Wings first 2nd Round Draft Pick of this past draft is a great Puck Handeler and I'd expect to see him in the AHL next season if not sooner. As for the rest of the guys Ferraro seems to be developing very well and our other Draft Picks from the 11 Draft seem to be pretty good. As for the Detroit Red Wings Camp I'm excited to see what the new guys can provide for us and hope that our returning players can get back to business early and provide a great team on the ice. The Camp was fantastic!! Centre Ice Arena in Traverse City is such a beautiful Arena IMO. I'm sorry I didn't see any of you on here nor did I really get a chance to meet anyone and I apologize for that, I did indeed look but with everyone there it was tough to determine who was who on here and who was just another Wings fan. On a side note I did get a chance to exchange Hi, How Are You's with Kris Draper as we were both coming down-stairs at the same time after a day of Prospects Tournament. I got a Practice Puck that Landon Ferraro flung over the glass and I just happened to be the closest one to it and picked it up. Finally on the last day of camp my family and I went to Mables to have breakfast Tuseday morning becaue I remember some of you on here saying it was a place a lot of Wings fans go to meet up and have a meal together. Anyway as we were finishing up Tomas Holmstrom and Pavel Datsyuk came in and we even got a Hi How Are You from Holmsy. So it was a great Hockey trip. For me it's always hard to leave because I love Traverse City so much and really could live there and be very happy but had to come home but at least Hockey is back and that helps ease the pain of having to leave such a fun trip. Ok everyone that went you take it away from here please share your experience, feelings, thoughts and anything else you care to share about the Camp(s) this year.

NHL Prospect Camp & Detroit Red Wings Camp
Dimaline312000 replied to Dimaline312000's topic in General
Kira: Thank you so much for coming forward with your experience of Camp it sounded like you had a great time. It's nice to know that so many of the players and staff can be very personable and talk to the fans. As I said I did look for people from on here but never got a chance to meet anyone, hopefully one day I will. I really wanted to stay for Wednesday and Thursday's Camps/Practices but it was just time to come home. So glad to hear you had a great time I too am planning on going to Camp again next year if everything works out. Heaten: I'm terribly sorry to hear about you ticket situation. Years ago when they first started doing the Red and White Games at Van Andel Arena I attempted to get tickets the first two years and never could because I was always told by someone with the Griffins that they were including the Red and White Game into the Griffins Season Ticket Holders Season Ticket Plans and they were going to get first choice on the rest of the tickets which didn't make me to happy either your problem is a little different but I understand your frustration and don't blame you for wanting a refund. Seems like the Griffins would definetly keep better track of ticket sales and they could have been more gracious about the problem and gave you a discount or something more than just a Griffins game for your $135. -
Never been to the Red and White Game @ Van Andel Arena before so I wouldn't know about Autographs or anything like that but yeah I'd say teams are probably a little unfair but that's up to the coaches. Have a great time!!

Well I'm very disappointed in hearing that Philly gets another go around at the Winter Classic. I want to see other teams play in the Winter Classic. What about Minnesota or Colorado or some other Eastern Teams. Glad to see the Rangers are in it but now that makes both Philly and Pitts being in the Classic twice bfore a bunch of other teams aren't there 30 teams in the NHL no offense but what's so great about Pennsylvania??
