    Gustav Nyquist

He was a guy that had a very strong Prospect Tournament and Camp and tonights game Vs Chicago he really showed a lot of great skill. I to believe he'll be a top 6 player in the NHL real soon. Nyquist did score a goal in the 7th and 8th Place Game in the Prospect Tournament Vs Carolina and a goal for Team White in the Red and White Game on the Last Official Day of camp. Not to mention skating and handeling the puck well and playing pretty physical. I'm excited to see what this kid can do in the future.

    Mursak is out

Now let's see who that opens the door for, should be interesting to see what happens. Very unfortuante for Mursak I wish him a quick recovery or as quick as possible.

9/25 Pre-Season GDT: Chicago Blackhawks at Red Wings

Fractured Left Ankle, damn that sucks. I was hoping he could go for one of those forward spots well now we'll see who will make the team.

NHL Prospect Camp & Detroit Red Wings Camp

I'm so glad you came forward with your experince of camp. That's great that you got to see all those guys and yes I agree with you that when the players are out and about we as fans should let them be and not go hound them for autographs. That's how I felt with Holmstrom and Datsyuk came into Mables my family and I didn't interfere with them and I hope no one did as well. I wish I could argue with you about Emmerton but I can't I to think he didn't have a great camp which is unfotunate becasue I would have loved to been able to see what he could do for the Wings this season. Perhaps the Wings saw or will see something that we as fans missed. I hate to see our young guys play all those years in GR and in Juniors and not get a chance to play for the Wings but if they aren't the right fit they just aren't. I would have loved to go into one of the bars on Front Street later in the evening to have a beer and if I was with my friends we probably would have but since I was with my family and they aren't into the whole bar scene. I also wanted to let people on here know that if you go to youtube and type in NHL Prospect Tournament, and Detroit Red Wings Training Camp there are a few video's that people have posted from this years camps. Hope we hear from more people.

    Howard's new mask

Very Cool Mask!! Howie is a gret guy and that was a very nice gesture for him to put those guys on his mask, it just goes to show how much heart this entire Organization has. Go Wings!!

Shelley Suspended 10 games for hit from behind

I saw the hit and I think this is the proper punishment for Shelley. Nice work Shanny!!

    Kindl

I think if Kindl is given the oppertunity he will live up to those words. He's a good young player with a lot of potential and I can see him being a big part of the Wings Defensive Corps!!

    Training Camp Roll Call

That's a great idea, I'd be willing to get together if my schedule premits it. Not sure what all the family has planned other than Hockey, Wineries and Casino but I'm willing to meet everyone from here that is going if I can.

    Training Camp Roll Call

I will most likely be wearing a Red Detriot Red Wings Hoodie Carpenter style pants and a Wings hat but I'm not sure which one as I have a lot to choose from and will be bringing 2 or 3 hats on this trip. I will also be wearing a Detroit Red Wings Backpack as I like to keep track of some of the stats for the NHL Prospect Games as well as the games from the Wings Traing Camp!! I'm pretty short right around 5 ft. Is anyone else going to the NHL Prospect Camp? My family and I are leaving next saturday morning very early as we want to see the Red Wings Prospects Practice. 7 Days Until We Leave!!!! One Week, I'm so EXCITED!!!!

I could have made it to the NHL!

I could have made the NHL if I didn't have Heart, Back and Leg Problems. But at least I get to play Sled Hockey!!

    Red Wing's Wine

How many of you that have gone to camp before have been to the Wineries in Traverse City?? We've been to every single one of them. A lot of great Wines are made here in Michigan and most of them are from Traverse City. Our Favorite is the Reisling but I do tend to like some of the dry wines as well. Anyone have a favorite Winery or Michigan Wine??

    Training Camp

We were considering bringing our boat up to TC and just stayin on it but it's a little too small and not all the accomidations as a hotel would have so we decided against it. We love just wandering around Traverse City and visting the State Parks like you. Just two weeks away now before we head up there!!!! I'm definetly ready for some Hockey!!!!

So does Chris Conner make this team?

Me personally I'd rather see Conner and Brunnstrom get some shifts early on the Wings roster that way the coaching staff can see who is the better player and who can have a chance at contending for a spot on this team. I still believe that Emmerton and Mursak should be main-stayers on the Wings roster since they've been with the organization for the longest and payed their dues in GR, however if they can maybe get a rotation going with some of the guys I wouldn't mind seeing that as long as we remember that the Wings still need to develop from within our own system. I don't mind seeing the Wings bring in some new fresh legs and new players but we can't forget our guys in GR.

    Training Camp

One question I get also is what to do during the down time/no hockey time. Traverse City is a beautiful town and really has a lot to do. Traverse City is Michigan's Wine Country and it has two major Penninsulas Old Mission and Leelanau both Penninsula's have a bunch of Wineries that make some great wine and even if you're not a drinker I would suggest just driving on the Penninsulas becasue there is some very beautiful scenery and some great photo opps of Traverse Bay and Historical Spots. Sleeping Bear Dunes isn't very far away and they are fun to walk around on and such. There is Leelanau Sands Casino and Turtle Creek Casino that are also close by if you like to play slots or card games. I'm a Poker Player and have visited Turtle Creek Casino's Poker Room a couple times. On Thrusday nights there is what's called Poor-Mans Poker which is a $10 Buy in Tourney. There is also another Hockey arena in Traverse City which is named after a pretty famous Detroit Red Wing Called Howe Arena which I've been in a few times but it's primarily for Area High School Hockey Teams but I suggest visiting it just to see there are some plaques in his honor. Of course there is the beach and some great places to eat or have a drink. Boones is a very good place to have Prime Rib but is pretty costly. So for those of you making the trip to Traverse City for the Wings Camp there is plenty to do besides hockey I suggest taking in as much as you can in the time you are there becasue it is a very beautiful area.

    Training Camp

In the past I've got autogrpahs from Kyle Quincey, Chris Osgood, Pavel Datsyuk and Steve Yzerman. I got Kyle, Pavs and SteveY to sign a hat of mine that is up on my top shelf of my collectors room in a Ziploc Bag. As for Ozzie I got his autograph on my Dominik Hasek Jersey, lol becasue my cousin was wearing my Osgood jersey and was to shy to go up to him. 18 More Days Until the NHL Prospect Tournament!!

    HockeyFest

Regina is a Terrier/Chiuaua (forgive the spelling) so she is very high-strung and easily excited. In fact we are suprised we haven't been kicked out of the neighborhood becasue she barks at just about everything. Come to think of it I think I've seen you and Loki before we've never been formally introduced of course but I seem to remember seeing a service dog at camp last season. Only 18 Days until we head up to Traverse City for the NHL Prospect Tournament!! I'm definetly getting excited but this is usually about the time I start hoping and praying that something doesn't happen to mess it up so we can't go. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed. See you up there.

    Red Wing's Wine

I've seen it but I refuse to buy or drink it becasue it's from California and with the simple fact that the Wings hold their Training Camp in Traverse City, Michigan you would've thought they would have worked something out with one of the local wineries here in Michigan. There are about 50 or so Wineries around Michigan so it's not like they couldn't find a Winery right here and support our States Economy. It's probably the one Red Wings item I won't buy.

    Training Camp Cuts

I'd have to agree with you there. I can only really see Smith coming up and only if the Wings can possibly get a rotation going on defense. As for Tatar and Brunnstrom I can maybe see Brunnstrom making the Griffins team and possibly signing a two-way deal but he won't be on the Wings roster on a full-time basis. Wings definelty need to start considering bringing in some young players but it has to be at the right time. I'd rather see Emmerton and Mursak on the Wings than Brunnstrom or Conner as Cory and Jan have been with the team the longest and have payed their dues and developed very well in the AHL and deserve to come up. I'm not really sure much will change with the way the roster is now. I'd expect thing to be as you say Status Quo at least until the Trade Deadline unless something really drastic happens and I hope nothing does. I'd rather the Wings just a good solid season with what they have than make a whole bunch of moves just to shake up the roster. I think the Roster will have enough of a shake-up again next off-season. If what I'd like to see actually happens next season the Wings will have a ton of cap space and be able to bring up players from GR as well as maybe sign a few Big Name Free Agents so that this team can make another solid run at the Cup. Hopefully that will happen this season as well but I think next season will be the better chance. So I'd have to think most things will stay the same at the start of this season but we'll see. Only 21 Days until I go up to TC for the NHL Prospect Tournament and than the Detroit Red Wings Traing Camp!!!!

Should Homer Still Be On the Top Line?

I'd have to say I'm up in the air about this one, so yes and no. If we can find the right player to take Holmsy's place on the top line and do what he does than fine I'm willing to go along with it for the time being. I agree he is slowing down with age but he is still very crucial and I think it would be tough to find the right person to take his place on the top line. I hate that the refs are always watching him like a hawk when he's around the net and are very willing to call back any goal that is scored becasue of his interference but he does what he does so well that kind of stuff just can't really be helped.

Extra days added to training camp

Yes that's part of it too. They want to be able to know where they can assin players based on where they want them to be this coming season. I would expect that most or all the newest players will go back to Juniors or wherever until it's time for them to come to GR. Looks like it's going to be a great camp!! Can't Wait!!

    Training Camp

Go to www.centreice.org and find the DRW Training Camp Tab and click on it and it will have a schedule of what times things are happening at the arena. If you want to get autogrpahs than yes you will wait outside for the players to come to the rink and if you're lucky you can get a few of them to sign autographs. Otherwise the action happens in the arena. It has two rinks and an upstairs area for you to sit and watch if you don't like the cold of the rinks. I would advise getting there early and stake your seat as people like to get in a see any action they can.

Extra days added to training camp

The 21st and 22nd the Wings have Pre-season games and they wanted to be able to have a morning skate on the days of the games and they just figured they'd do it there since they were up in TC already anyways. I heard that a few weeks ago. They didn't really add the two extra dates until about the Development Camp they had in July which really sucks because I would have loved to been able to go to it all but becasue family can't add anymore time to there days off request it won't work for us. If you can manage it I would encourage it, it's only $10 from what I hear and it's two extra days to see the Wings.
