There were a few pictures on Facebook but I can't remember if the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp Page provided them or the Red Wings Page but there were a few on facebook.

Red Wings / Griffins sign Exelby, Pyett
Dimaline312000 replied to DangleDangleBeach's topic in General
I'm just glad to see Pyett is re-signed. I think adding Exelby is a very smart move and will definetly add depth to our defensive roster. Both great signings!! -
"We feel good with the people we have," Holland said
Dimaline312000 replied to Barrie's topic in General
Looking at the lines/depth chart I have to say I'm pretty happy with what we have as long as we find a capable Back-up Goalie for Jimmy Howard and IMO that means NOT ReSigning Ozzie. Conks, Larsson or someone else. I only have one question. After looking at the lines in the article it has Brad Sturat Pairing with Nicklas Lidstrom on the Top Definsive line; is that what the Wings will ACTUALLY be going with and is that ideal or was the article just listing players in no paticular order except for positions?? I would almost rather see Kronwall or Big E team with Liddy. Kronner seems a little bit stronger but Big E could learn a lot from Liddy on that line thus making him a better D-man and a better signing in the long run. -
I would have much rather signed Doughty instead of Commodore or White but what's done is done. I would definetly be on board of trading Filps, Huds and maybe even Sturat bringing Kolosov, Pyett or Smith up to take Brads place that way we'd keep most of our youth. I don't know how realistic that is and I'm sure many of you could find flaws in this idea but I hate the thought of losing Draft Picks and or Youth becasue now-a-days so many teams are building through the draft and IMO it's very important to keep as many as possible. I'd be more content with trying to offer 3 or 4 players for him. Just my idea, but I would definetly be on board for doing what we could to get him but with already signing 3 D-Men I just can't see Kenny H looking at D anymore this season. Now I think the focus has to turn to Goaltending for sue and when Camp comes looking to see if Emmerton and or Mursak could take Draper and Modano's places.

Wings sign D Ian White to 2-year, $5.75m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to germanwing's topic in General
For the price I think that is a great signing. Glad to see the Wings getting decent replacements for Rafalski. I'm not a huge Ian White fan but IMO this is a pretty good signing. Now time for a goalie decision. -
Overall I felt it was a decent first day of Free Agency for the Wings. They signed 2 forwards and 2 defensemen. No really big names but all players strong and able to play a good game here. We want a Big Name Free Agent Signing becasue we want something Big to talk about during the off-season and while signing Big Name Free Agents can be and are great players it's not always the way to go. What matters is Standings, Playoff Position and Championships. I know we had a lot of Cap Space Available but that doesn't mean we should just go blow it. If we can sign 3 or 4 players that can do the same for the price of 1 player than I'm all for that. This team doesn't really make a whole bunch of major deals early in free agency. I say we just play it by ear and see what happens. Yes I want to get the best possible players for the best possible price and whatever that means if it means signing them now or waitin to see if their prices will go down the closer we get to the season. Most improtantly IMO is doing what wee need to do to bring and Championship back to this Organzation.

Definetly not a horrible choice but it just reminds me of what I said a little bit ago is about the Chemistry between Goalies. Conks is a good back-up and Jimmy could definetly learn a lot from him and vice versa but that would put the Wings in the same postion the next season or whenever Conks Contract ended; we'd have to look for another back-up for Jimmy. I don't know what's going on as far as Larsson coming back from Sweden but if he is and we can get him on an NHL contract for cheap that would give us two young goalies to move forward with and that would give McCollum plenty of time to help develop his skills in the AHL than when the time came for him to be up we'd have to make the decision than but at least it would give us time to see what our young guys could do together. I mean do we want to keep signing older veteran goalies to 1 or 2 year deals from here on out or have 2 younger guys be up and be the future of the team. I lean torwards the Younger Goalies if it works out if not I'm definetly on board for bringing Ty Conklin in again. I just want what's best for the team and the best possible players we can have to bring a Cup back to Detroit along with giving our younger players plenty of oppertunity to be in the NHL. I mean we drafted these guys we may as well see if they can fill some NHL roles on this team.

I just hope that they will bring up Emmerton and Mursak this season.

I don't really have any ideas on what players we would get. I'm kinda done guessing what the Wings will do. I have my ideas and wants of what I want them to do but as far as thinking who they will get I give up. Now that being said I think as we get further and further into the Off-Season and closer to the New Season players prices are going to have to drop and I think that's where the Wings benefit the most in getting what they want for what they can afford. My only concern is what will be left if the Wings wait another few weeks or even a month. I hope the Wings can sign as high quality of players as they can to help this team make another run to the Cup.

Well there's one in every crowd and I guess I'll be the one to say NO. I just don't like the idea of trading players like Kindl, and Larsson; especially since we haven't given either one a fair chance at proving themselves on this roster, and I definetly HATE trading ANY Draft Picks away. I'm not saying that it wouldn't work I'm just saying I don't like it. Not a bad idea and it's great thinking I love that you are willing to think outside the box as you said but I just don't like the players involved. Bogosian is the only player I wouldn't mind having. Mason is a good quality goalie and probably would be a fine back-up but it's just not a route I'd want to go without knowing how Larsson and Kindl could play for us.

I'd definetly like signing Nabakov for one year as long as the salary is reasonable but also at I feel like that's just a temporary fix, Nabby won't be here for long if at all and won't be the future of the Wings and we'd just have to do the same thing next season so I'd almost would rather sign a younger goalie like Larsson as long as he is able to come up and the Wings feel comfortable that he is ready for the NHL. Continually signing UFA Goalies season after season doesn't really help with Chemistry between the goalies like having two young ones that can grow together and learn from each other but also on the other hand it's nice to have a goalie that has NHL experince and can help Jimmy with his play. So either way would be ok I guess but I do hope something does happen soon becasue having another goalie locked up I think would be a good idea.
-
I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully they will deal or even let go of Nabakov so that the Wings can get their hands on him but than again what is the deal with Larsson is he coming back and will the Wings Re-Sign him to an NHL Deal this time. I hope the Wings can get a goalie signed pretty soon just to be safe. I know going into Camp the Wings usually bring in about 6 or more goalies but it would be nice to know where we stand as far as who is going to be backing up Howard.

Derek Meech signs 1-year contract with Winnipeg
Dimaline312000 replied to stevkrause's topic in General
I'll be real interested to see what he can provide for the Jets. I really did like him hear he just wasn't good enough to stay on the Wings roster. Hopefully Derek can contribute a lot to this team in their first season back in the NHL. -
Buffalo signs Ville Leino to 6-year, 27m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Lonewuhf's topic in General
$4.5 Per Season for Ville has Buffalo gone mad?? I'm sorry but without some dramatic improvement that is way to much to pay for him but whatever that's the Sabres decision I just hope they don't regret it in a year or so. -
I still can't see Philly making it that far in the playoffs. Even with Jagr and Lils and all the other moves they are making. They are looking for the right direction but I don't think they've found it yet.

Wings re-sign Ericsson to 3-year, $9.75m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Ozzie30's topic in General
This is the best signing so far in my honest opnion I know he's had his ups and downs since being here in Detroit but with him being so young I can see him improving and continuing to get better so I am glad to have him back because I believe he will be a better player in the long run. -
Wings re-sign Miller to 2-year, $1.65m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Majsheppard's topic in General
I guess for the money we are paying him this is an ok deal. I would have rather seen us let go of Eaves and Miller and pursue someone a little bit better but like Eaves he fills his role pretty good and hopefully he can improve over the course of the two seasons. -
Wings re-sign Eaves to 3-year, $3.6m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
3 Years really, I just hope this guy improves a lot over that time because although I think he is good player he hasn't been as good as I've liked but I guess he fills his role fine. -
Wings sign D Mike Commodore to 1-year, $1m contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Tim.D's topic in General
Not a great signing but I guess I'll have to tolerate it for one season. So far Big Jon E is the best signing in my opnion so far. All this cap space and we are just blowing it. -
This topic is right up my alley. I really suggest that Holland does bring players up from within our system and give the a chance to perform and see what they can do. This team needs a little spark and I think adding some youth and players that have been working hard in the minors to get a shot at the big time is just what this team needs. The Wings have a ton of depth and I think now is the time to tap into it. You can't keep signing veterans and releasing prospects and rookies. At some point this team needs to get younger and players in the Minors deserve a shot this season is as good of time as any. You can't keep question-marking these players at some point you have to throw them into the mix and just see what you can do. Of course I want the Wings to do whatever it takes to bring a Cup back to Detroit but this has to be a growing process and the Wings have spent time developing their younger players which is a process. It's not like this team is in any trouble financially or has a poor fanbase or anything like that so winning a cup is not a necessaity right now which seems to be what people think will happen if you bring the kids up. Who really knows it could be just what this team needs to get back to the Cup. Sure there are a lot of questions but you can't keep holding players back because you're unsure. If they've been in the system long enough and developed their skills long enough you must give them a shot. It's time to see what the kids can do.

Does that mean Landon Ferraro won't be on the team? I don't like the idea of looking that far ahead until you know more about what's going in. Maybe by the end of next season or the season after once we have more info on these new players would I start predicting 16/17 Roster.

These camps have always been held in Detroit at the Joe but this year they dedided to do it in TC. If I had the money I'd be going to this Camp as well as the NHL Prospect Tournament and Red Wings Training Camp but I can't afford all of them. The tickets are only $5 which is a great deal. If you want to see the Draft Picks and some of the other Prospects than I would suggest you go it's probably not as grand as the NHL Prospects Tournament that's held in September before the Red Wings Training Camp. I've never been to the Development/Strength and Conditiong Camp but it sounds like a Ton of fun and it's a Shot of Hockey in the dead of Summer which for me is always AWESOME. The Arena is a very nice facility and the staff is equally nice so if you have the money I would go otherwise wait until September and go to the NHL Prospect Tourney and see 6 or 8 teams worth of Prospects. I would go just to get as much hockey as I can a but like I said I've never been to one of these but if you want a glimpse at future Red Wings players it's probably worth it.

Lets think COMPLETELY outside of the box for one minute...
Dimaline312000 replied to shaeb30's topic in General
The thought of having Stamkos is very cool I just don't see it working out. Wings definetly need D. It would be nice to add a strong forward like Stammer but probably not this season. Wings main focuse needs to be D and who if anyone can come up from GR and take on a Role in Detroit!!
