I certainly don't think this is the end by any means, the team I feel does need to improve in a few areas but and I've not comletely lost hope for a Cup this season. I see a lot of room for improvement and I think once the Playoffs get going it will be in the team's head a little more that if they are going to contend for a cup they have to start bringing their game to that uppper level that is required in the playoffs to have a chance. Special Teams is an issue and Getting and Holding leads is definetly an issue. I think it's more about playing a good hard 60 Minutes a game and not letting up even with a 3 or 4 goal lead. You have to respect you opponents for what they can do, you have to bump and grind and play physical sound hockey, if the Wings can take care of all that and do it in a timely fashion I think they will be just fine and good strong contenders. I'm getting hungry too for another Cup and hopefully it is coming soon.

Here's my two cents on this issue and than I'm going to try to leave it at that. First I don't see Chara as a dirty player while I do think this was a questionable check I don't know how dirty it is. Plus I don't know if there is a past history between the two players and if this was some type of payback or not. I know it's Montreal and Boston an Orginal 6 matchup and that's history in itself. If this was some type of payback than I don't agree with it and I think it should be penalized. The thing that gets me as I see the hit is that the check was some what delayed in my point of view. Max had already passed the pucl so it's not like Chara was coming after the person with the puck and was fully commited to the check when Pacioretty passed it, it was somewhat after that. I don't really follow Boston or Montreal so I don't really know the whole story but I don't see Chara as a dirty player in all the times that I've seen him play. I think it was the right move by the ref to give him a mjor and a game misconduct but I also agree with the NHL that he won't face any further charges. It didn't look like a head hunting play as I've seen with other players and other teams but than again all I saw was this clip, I never saw the game or anything leading up to or after the check. I hop that Pacioretty is ok and will be able to play as early as possible but these types of hits do happen and I don't think it was the type of hit that is like what needs to be taken out of the league. Like knee or knee or other forms of head hunting. That's all I'm going to say right now I'm going to try to make this the one and only thing I say about this. Thanks. Go Wings!!

Babcock speaks out (in a very good way)

96-97 My First FULL Season I really didn't know what to expect I was just getting into hockey and the Detroit Red Wings and they won so I was instantly hooked. 97-98 Was quite a bitter pill to take with what happened to Vladdy and everything and all that happening not long after they won the Cup so I really Wanted them to do it again but did really expect it. 98-99 Getting Chelly and Wendel Clark and all plus still being young and dumb I thought of nothing but at 3-Peat boy I was wrong. 99-00 Didn't reall expect much, I was hoping they could at least do decent but really wasn't thinking about a Cup 00-01 A HELL season for me. I was very much interested in Minor League Hockey and my favorite team the Muskeogn Fury and when my favorite player (Goalie) Joe Dimaline was traded to our arch rival the Quad City Mallards but as for the Red Wings I was starting to get hungry again for a Cup and when the Wings blew a 2-0 Series Lead against the LA Kings and lost 4 games in a row to be eliminated it hurt. When Adam Deadmarsh put that goal in in OT of Game 6 my heart sank and I prepared myself for another Championship-less season. 01-02 Went from Hell to Heaven in just one season my favorite non Red Wings Goalie Dominik Hasek had signed a deal with my favorite NHL Team the Detroit Red Wings with the addition of Brett Hull and Lucky Luc Robitalle I was re-energized and revamped and had Huge High Expectations and the Wings Delievered!! Lord Stanley was back in MoTown!!!! 02-03 Hasek's gone but felt the Wings are still great contenders and the Ducks took them out early. Was thinking that Cujo desereved much better for his first season as a Wing 03-04 If I'm not mistake Luc is gone this season but Brett Hull and the core of the team is still very well intact so I felt confident the Wings could still be up there. The Flames burnt them. 04-05 Probably the season I really felt the Wings were going to do it again and the season gets canceled. 05-06 No season last season so I was still expecting the team to do well and at least make the Conference Finals... The Oilers struck gold against the Wings. 06-07 The hunger was back the season before now it was even stronger but injuries in the playoffs crippled my hopes and the Ducks did it again. At least this time we lost to the Stanley Cup Champs. 07-08 Ozzie and Hasek are both playing really strong and the team is doing well. Got pretty nervous when the Preds tied up the Series in the 1st round and Hasek took a back seat to the Wizard of Oz and the man delieverd another Stanley Cup Championship!! Got emotional after the 3 OT's Goal scored by Sykora in Game 5 but got even more emotinal in Game 6. It felt like a huge weight was lifted right off me. That was a great summer for me!! 08-09 Once the team made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals against Pittsburgh again I wasn't all that confident I remember alot of posts on here and a lot of great words from all you members on here that helped me out. Hard fought series and a Game 7, this one still stings even now. It's almost funny becuase the summer before when we won the Cup I kept saying that the Pens Cup was coming soon becasue I really felt that Pittsburgh had a great team I just didn't know it would happen so soon and aganist us. OUCH!! 09-10 I saw Helm go into the boards hard head first in Training Camp and have to be helped off the Ice I knew than it wasn't going to be a good season for us 10-11 This season my expectations are fairly high, I have have a lot of concerns and question marks in my head about this team. Wings are a strong team but I really feel they need to work on Special Teams especailly the Power Play and also clamping it down defensivly and holding onto leads once they get them. Last night against Phoenix was horrible IMO. The 1st and 2nd was fine/decent but things quickly went to hell in a handbasket and the Wings let 1 Point slip away. I still think they can be strong contenders and if they can just fix a few things they can go far. I guess we'll see. Let's Go Red Wings!!

I'm just glad to see him in a Red Wings Jersey but yes I do think he is beter suited as a Wing and I do hope that he can stay there.

He's a head hunter and I HATE head hunter's I think he should be out.

Red Wings Won't be Active at Trade Deadline
Dimaline312000 replied to ShanahanMan's topic in General
I think this is for the best. The Wings have a lot of talent on this roster and as long as everyone can stay healthy and can get their Power Play clicking a little bit better I think they will be a team that has a great chance this season. God the season's just fly by the older I get, Seems like just yesterday I was in Traverse City for the Wings Training Camp. Oh well. Let's Go Wings!! -

The event went Great!! The Sled Wings beat the Griffins again this time by the widest margins of goals 11-1 a great time was had by all. Thank to every for your support. Next up Adult Tournament at Patterson Ice Center Mach 12 and 13 than Junior Tournament at Georgetown Ice Arena March 19 and 20th. I most certainly agree. It is a great event to attend and everyone's support is apprecaited. This is my second season with the Adult Sled Wings and I wanted very bad to go to this event last year but I got sick the night before with a stomach bug and didn't get to go. Once again I'm sick with a cold but I will be there working the score board. For anyone who is interested in seeing a little bit of the games without attending you can go to YouTube.com and type on Griffins Vs Sled Wings there should be a couple videos there. Please attend if you can it is sure to be a great event!! -

I was just wondering if anyone was going to the Detroit Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament at Motor City Casino Hotel on March 14th? Has anyone ever been to the even, I've seen the event advertised before but have never gone. I was considering playing in it but than I looked at the Prizes which are all nice but $300 buy in and the best I can get is a flight with the wings to a preseason game which I believe is with Chicago so really not much of a trip in my opnion. I play Poker for real money and this just doesn't look as good to be as it may sound. Anyone going or can give me more info about the event? Thanks.

Detroit Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament

Yeah I know a few people that don't like Daniel for all his chatter but he is great. Another good place to play Hold Em Tournaments is Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City, Indiana and Turtle Creek Casino in Traverse City, Michigan. I'm not a big fan of Mike Matasow but I wouldn't mind reading his book. I wanna read his and Doyle's (Doyle Brunson) Know as "The God Father of Poker". Still considering whether or not to play in the Red Wings Tourney. We'll see I guess. -
Detroit Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament

Lol, I'm far from a Pro but I have made decent money playing Poker. Sahamies is a Finn, I'd much rather see Danile Negreanu play at least he's a hockey fan even if he is Canadian and a Leafs fan. He is brilliant and my idol. Sounds like both tournament would be fun but I'd have to win a few Sit N Go's to be able to afford the money without diminishing my bankroll to a point where I would have to go back to micor stakes and small ball touneys. And not be sound rude Martyme but is Joe Cada and he's from Shelby Township Michigan and the Winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event. -
I knew that chick was gonna be trouble.

Detroit Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament

I love playing No Limit Hold Em I play on PokerStars.com in the medium to small stakes cash games. I also play Crazy Pineapple Poker too that is a lot of fun. I just don't know if I can take the $300 out of my Bankroll and not be able to put it back for a while. I love the idea of the Charity Poker Game and I can understand why none of the prizes can be cash prizes but I'm still up in the air. Any other info please post. Thanks. -
Training Camp is Amazing, I love it so much. My family and I are trying to work out a Disney Trip as well so I'm going to try to get tickets for the Wings Camp but probably won't be able to get tickets for the Prospects Camp. Which I've attended the past two years. I would really suggest going up to Traverse City for the NHL Prospect Camp/Tournament it is very fun to watch all the rookies and prospects play. It's also fun in my opnion to see other faces from the NHL such as other teams coaches, gm's and scouting staff from the teams that particpate in it. I have the funnest time up there it is a beautiful area. I don't know if anyone is a Wine fan but if you are visit the Wineries on both Old Mission Point Pennisula and Leelanau Pennisula and do the Wine Tastings they make some really good wines up there. I can't wait for Training Camp I'm already thinking about it again!!

Detroit Red Wings Charity Poker Tournament
Dimaline312000 replied to Dimaline312000's topic in General
Oh ok I wasn't sure if the $300 did include the dinner and the stay in the hotel? That really isn't to bad at all. I would actually prefer a little better prizes but not to bad a guess. Maybe I should consider it a little more. -
The only player I would trade right now would be Salei. He just hasn't impressed me enough to be on the team. Filps I would only trade if we could get a great realistic deal for him.
-
That's great to hear that Cleary will be back and to know that Pavs and Homer are close to returning as well. It will be nice to see how this team does once all of the team gets healthy again. If the Wings can get healthy and stay healthy I think they will be real good contenders this year, at least I hope.

Dimaline312000 replied to Matt's topic in General
Isn't there a clause in this contract saying that he can't be moved? Any team that picked him up don't they have to keep them unless they waive it? Call me ignorant I don't care but was this really even a wise move by the Islanders or any team, I think not. Look at what Snow and the Islanders are going through now scrunity by the fans and a bunch of conterversy. I don't think this was wise by any team, and what are the Islanders trying to prove to suspend him for not coming in. He doesn't want to play for them so it just makes the Islanders look bad in my opnion. So as I said I stand by my statement in saying it was stupid to pick up Nabokov. -

Dimaline312000 replied to Matt's topic in General
I stand my Nabokov's orginal decision not to go to the Islanders I think it was stpuid to claim him even if it was within the rules of the NHL and players Contracts and rights. What are the Islanders trying to do here. No offense to Nabokov but if the Islanders are looking to rebuild and I think they are in a rebuilding stage if they want to do that and they want to rebuild around a goalie Nabokov is not the type of goalie that NY should be trying to build around. Like he said he's at a point in his career where he wants to help a team win in the playoffs. I don't see him with the Islanders having a true true shot at a Stanley Cup for another coupl years or so. I could be wrong it may be sooner but the Islanders have a lot more work to do to be contenders. Since all this has statred I'm fine now with Detroit having our GR goalies back up Jimmy if that is what Detroit wants. I think it would be a good idea to have an insurance goalie but if the Wings think they can do fine as is than so be it or if they want to try something with a different goalie than fine. I just hope the Wings can continue to be contenders.
