I definetly want to see Eaves worked into the line-up soon. If Helm needs more time than there is no need to rush him back in as long as Abs is filling the void well than let Helm be 100% before he is put in a actual game situation.

I would like to give Jimmy at least a month or two to see if he can find his grove in Detroit. If he can't than I'd trade him for maybe a very low pick and see if we could sign a FA goalie otherwise I'm just not sure what I would do. Does anyone think Larsson could maybe come up? I'm going to say no to Larsson for at least this season but ya never know. I think the Wings will be just fine just give them some time.

Will You Be Surprised if the Wings dont make the Playoffs?

Let's not get out of hand here there is still 80 more games to be played. I don't think it's time to get to crazy. I believe the Wings WILL make the playoffs. -
[GDT] 10/3 - Red Wings, 3 @ Blues, 5 (Stockholm)

I'm a little disgusted with the Wings preformance after the First 20 Minutes of the game. Most of our roster consists of Swedes. I can only imagine how they feel. I don't think it's time to panic or make any rash moves seeing as it is only the first two games of the season but the Wings do need to play their game. It's a long season and we have to be patient give the Wings a chance to find their legs. Keep the faith Wings fans just keep the Faith. -

Great Win Wings!!

That's why I love Cleary. He's a good strong player and he tells it like it is. Nice Job Cleary!!

A pretty big bummer for me, I really thought that he would make the Griffins and stick with them to maybe get a shot at the NHL. Well I wish him the best of luck and maybe we'll see him in the NHL one day, than again maybe not.

Looks like good solid roster. Can't wait for Sweden!!

After reading the Howard post(s) on here now and before it got me to thinking if Howard doesn't work out can we keep Cloutier on the roster while having still having Howard on the roster? I have a feeling that we are going to part ways with Pearce after the Pre season and have Larsson and McCollum in GR and I'm willing to bet that Whitley will be sent back down to College or wherever he goes from here. Can the Wings have 3 goalies on their NHL Roster? If Howard doesn't get into a grove here in Detroit and just can't find his way and I wasn't quite sold on Cloutier at Camp either. He looked way less sharp than years before. I know he's older and that year of no NHL hockey hurt his skills a bit but if he is our only option if Howard doesn't work out than can we keep him on the Wings roster? I know that has to do with how much cap we have as well I'm just not sure with the Cap Era if an NHL team can have 3 goaltenders on their atual NHL roster. I hope Howard does start to improve and in time become a better NHL goalie for the Wings but I'd like to know what our options are before having to make a trade. Any help would be greatly appreicated. Thank you.

Ok, once again I'm not trying to start a holy war here but if the Wings didn't have at least some confidence in Howard than why not trade Howard and sign a UFA Goalie? I'm just trying to give Howard the respect he deserves. I know he is unproven and everyon is entitled to their own opinion and I respect that; I also believe that as Wings fans it's our job to the critical of the team and it's players but it's also our job to be supportive of the team and it's players. I just wanna give Howard an chance before we dismiss him as a poor goalie. I know that's not what this topic is about and I start this topic about Cloutier but I just wanted to try to give Howie a chance.

If he continues to play the way he played in Traverse City there will be no reason for him to be sent to Plymouth. He is a great player with a bright future and a lot of possibilities. He just needs some time to develop all of his skills and if he stays on pace and injury free I see no reason he won't make the NHL in a few years. Glad to see Tatar get a shot at playing Pro Hockey instead of Junior Hockey.

Not to argue or anything but if the Wings didn't have some confidence in Jimmy Howard why didn't they keep Conklin and trade Howard? My feeling is that the Wings do have some conficence in Howard and wants to give him a fair chance. It's up to him to make the best of the oppurtunity and play well and earn a spot on the Wings roster as a back-up. As for Cloutier I would kinda like to keep him but at the same time watching him in camp he didn't seem like a very strong goalie so I don't know if I'd rather have Howard or Cloutier as back-up but if things didn't work out I'd say the Wings best bet would be to let Clout go and than trade Howard for a capable back-up UFA Goalie still out there. However I want to give Jimmy a chance to prove what he can and can't do before I make any rash decisions on him.

My apologies, I read an article I believe it was in TC while I was up there saying that Larsson was almost garunteed a spot on the GR roster and Pearce and McCollum where going to have to duke it out for the last playoffs spot and that the Wings would keep the best one and let the other one go. Obviously the author wasn't aware of Pearce's contract or just forgot. I didn't realize he was signed untill 2011 so that is my fault. I didn't think we had the Cap Space to keep Cloutier but I wasn't sure. I want to make it clear that I would love to give Howard a REAL shot at being the Wings back-up this season but if it doesn't work out I hope we can fix the problem before it becomes a catastrophe.

Maybe Howard is why Cloutier got a camp invite. Let's give him a chance though.
-
We are basing this on 1 FRIGGING Game. Give the man some time. He deserves a chance to be here. Don't jump all over his Ass just because of one game. Just keep working hard Jimmy you can do it.

Great signing!!!! As I said before he was the one that impressed me the most at the Prospect Tournament and the Wings Training Camp. Given time and and some guidence he will develop into a great player and a great Red Wing one day. Nice job by the Wings in signing Tatar.

Let's Go Red Wings!! Hopefully FSD will broadcast at least one or two of these pre-season games.

Ken Hitchcock wants to make the Wings "Bleed"
Dimaline312000 replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Ken Hitchcock was at the NHL Prospect Tournament. He looked ok, could stand to lose a little weight. As for what he says I wish him the best of luck but I want the Wings to take it. -
I saw the fall he took at Camp he went head first right into the boards it was harsh. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope to see him on the Wings roster as soon as he's better.

I just got back from the 2009 NHL Prospect Tournament and the Detroit Red Wings Training Camp and I think Tatar will get a spot on the Griffins. That kid is Good!!. He moves the puck well and has great hands and his scoring ability makes him a pure threat. I'll be honest he is the guy that impressed me the most throughout the entire Tournament and Training Camp. Tatar is a great player and is developing fantastically already.

If Toronto got Kessel that would be huge for them they would definetly have a big leg up at being contenders. However you can have an All-Star team but ALL the players have to buy into the team concept for a team to be successful. The Leafs are my favorite Canadian and I'd love to see them get better but I also want the Wings to cath up to the Leafs in Cup soon so I don't want them to be too good to fast. lol.
-
I just hope we don't have another Quicey scenario. I want to be able to get something for whoever we let go.
-
I think that they are going to be broadcast again on the NHL Network, I thought I heard something about it but don't hold me to it. I'll be there to actually witness it. It looks like it's going to be some great hockey to watch. I'm actually more excited about seeing the Prospect Tournament than I am at seein the Red Wings Training Camp. I guess that's just because I've already seen the DRW TC twice already.
