NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
Exactly what I said. What good is an unhappy player going to do?. Just let him go and we can fill the holes with some other player(s). -
I would love to have Chris Kelly on the Wings roster. He is a good and somewhat gritty player and I think he would fit in well with the Wings. Chris Kelly and Chris Neil both played for my favorite Minor League team years ago (The Muskegon Fury- Now Muskegon Lumberjacks of the IHL).

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract
Dimaline312000 replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
Ok, now what happens if Hudler decides he wants to play in the KHL instead of the NHL, than he comes back to Detroit unhappy? How good is an unhappy player going to play. If he really wanted to play with the Wings in the NHL than they should have had something worked out a week ago. I say let him play in Russia. It's not worth it to go through all this trouble. -
For all this discussion, I say let him go to Russia. Not that I don't like Huds but I'd rather keep Filps than Huds. Maybe we'll be able to go after a Free Agent or soemthing. I would personally rather save the Cap Space for a Deadline Deal or something. We'll see what happens but I won't believe it until I see something absolutley Officially Confirmed.

I have to make sure I get one of those. I have a McFarlane Hasek, Roy, Luongo and someone else I forget. I have an Osgood Starting Line up Figure. Can't way to see the Ozzie McFarlane and get mey hands on one. If anyone deserves it Ozzie does.

Jeremy Williams & Kris Newberry sign with Wings / GR?
Dimaline312000 replied to titanium2's topic in General
Looks like a couple of big signings. I'm not sure that they will be in the NHL anytime soon but maybe some day. Than again they may be NHLers in a couple of years. I agree with whoever said that these two were probably signed to fill the gaps of Abs and Helm. -
I take what the media says with a grain of salt except for this statement I heard on ESPN Radio prior to Game 6 of the 2009 Stanley Cup Finals. "The Detroit Red Wings will be a great team for the next decade or so" I am not sure who said it as I'm trying to block out early June but. I do truly believe that the Red Wings will have rosters good enough for quite some time to be Cup Contenders every season. Don't quote me on that or anything but I believe in our team and I think we have the capability to the a great team for a long time to come.

Ok, my next question. I know that Brendan Smith is in College at Wisconny but when will he be able to come to at least the Griffins?? Also depending on how long the rest of his deveopment takes when will he be abl to come to the Wings?? He looks to be a good D-man, definetly will need some development time but I hope this kid does indeed make it to the NHL.
-
If he can improve his game and learn from his mistakes and correct them properly I would hope to see him in the NHL 10/11. No garuntees of course but from what I've learned about him in the past couple weeks. He could potentially be a great prospect for the Wings D or he may be and interesting peice of Trade-bait after next season.
-
Best of luck with the Avs Darren. I was never sure if he'd be a Red Wing and now that confirms that he won't at least not right now. Hopefully for him he will be able to crack the Avs roster and the a Full-Time NHL player.

Ericsson did great for the Wings this past season. I'll be glad to see him up all season next season. He will be a great D-man for years to come. Give him a few seasons and he could possibly be almost as good as Liddy.... We'll see.
-
I'm thrilled to have Ville back in the mix. I too was hoping for a little bit longer deal but we'll see what he can do for us these next two years and if he is still in Detroit's plans for the furture. I'm sure he'll get a bigger deal after this contract is up. Great Job Wings!!
-
That's what I meant just a couple games with 10 to 12 minutes not a whol lot more. No, there is no way he would be able to do what Ericsson did this past season right now. Give him another season in the AHL with a couple games in the NHL this season and I think next seaon Kindl should be able to come up if the Wings need him in the 10/11 Season.

I'd really like to see what Ritola could do for this club maybe a couple times this season. Depending on if Abs stays up or goes back down. Obviously if he goes down he's the first call-up but if he stays up and we need someone to fill an injury whole or something this season I'd like to see Ritola get a chance. Wouldn't mind seeing Emmerton possibly once this season. Saving the cap space would probably be a smarter idea and that way we give all our young guys a chance to prove what they can do as a full time player on the NHL Roster. I don't really think we need to do any signing of FA this off-season. Just keep who we can keep on this roster and bring the young guys up permanantley and I think we'll be a much better team and be very well sparked with young talent. It will also get everyone off our backs about how old we are. With so many NHL teams having more and more youthful players on their rosters It might be a good idea to go with a small youth movement to see what they can porvide.

When will Kindl be able to come up if the Wings want or need him up? Is he developed enough to maybe see a game or two in the NHL next season?
-
I personally think we need to be done with rental players for a while. We have a lot of guys in our system it's just going to take time to get them developed and get them up here. I don't see Mats Sundin signing at a low enough price to get him and still be able to keep Hudler and Leino. Let's keep what we have and go with that for a while. Than in a few years if the status in the NHL gets better financially than we can start thinking about getting other big name players again.
-
I haven't read this whole thread but we also have to take into considerations of retirements. I would have to believe that there will at least be 1 retirment, I'm leaning more towards 2 or 3 but I'll say one and if that player does still have more years left on their contract(s) that will open some cap space to if I'm not mistaken. I think the Wings will be fine for quite a long time and I look forward to a positive future for the Detroit Red Wings!!

Holmsy is a great player. He is not a complete player by any means but for what he is used for he is very good. I'd like to see any NHLers go to the Net the way he does and be as effictive as he is. He is getting up there age wise but he is still a competitive player. There is no way I'd ever even think about trading him or putting him down more than one line. He has to be on the top line because that is the player that he is. Homer has done just fine his whole career with the Wings, I'm glad he's on this team and he will be a Red Wing for as long as he plays. Homer didn't put up that great of numbers this playoffs "as someone on here has already said" but none of the players on the Wings did anything that terrific in the playoffs. Let's not forget that when you say playoffs you are talking about all 4 rounds. I get the sense that people are so critical of all of our players because they have boiled it down to the Finals Series. Everyone seems to forget what it took to get to the las series. There is no use in pointing fingers at anyone; its not going to do any good. Holmsy is great and we have a great team and as much as I need to practice what I preach we need to move on and start thinking about next season. It's coming up and it will be here quicker than we all think. It's time to move on and get excited for the future of our team the Future of the Detroit Red Wings!!
-
I tihnk he should be on the Wings roster this coming season. He's young and has great hockey sense and I think he'll be a nice fit on this team next season. I hope he does get to start the season on the Wings roster. I'm fine with not signing and FA's anytime soon. As long as we can do what we can to keep the amount of players that we need. I think we will still be a strong hockey team.
-
Congrats to all NHL teams involved. Go Red Wings!!
-
I'm honestly really happy with our roster for next season. Yes I wanted to keep Hossa but it didn't work out. I think this team is just as strong or stronger without him. I know we've lost some players so far but I think as long as we can keep players like Leino and our younger guys we'll be in great shape for next season. I'll be happy if we don't go after any other free agents than our own. I know that's probably not possible with the amount of players that we have lost. We'll probably have to go after at least one FA sometime this summer. I say give it another week or so and see who is still lefet on the market that way we can sign them for cheaper. I'd say wait longer but I'm not sure how long the players the Wings would want would be available. Bring all our young players up that ARE ready to come up and I think that will give the Wings a youthful spark that they may need for the coming season. Bringing up the young guys can maybe keep the media off our back about how old we are and how we don't have any youth on our team. Not that I worry about what everyone else says but it does get tiring hearing about how everyone thinks the Wings are too old or whatever. I do like going with a small amount of youth movement but I'll always favor experince and age over youth and stupidity. Like Hull use to say when he was here in Detroit. I like the direction in which the wings are headed for the coming season.
-
I sure hope Abs does make the NHL team this season. He's a great young player and I think he would bring a lot to this team.
-
I don't see this happening. But if it does. I wish Stevie Y all the best.

would Hossa stayed if we would have won the cup?
Dimaline312000 replied to WingNutt's topic in General
If he'd had won the Cup I still think he would be gone. Unless he was trying for Hall of Fame status when he retires and stayed to maybe get multiple Cups. I don't think he's going for the Hall and I don't see him getting a Cup with Chicagao anytime soon. But that could just be me. -
I think we are too stacked on Defense as it is. I mean Holland even said that after Training Camp he was going to trade a Defensman. There is no way in hell I'd trade Hudler "a good forward" for a defensman that we don't even need right now. If this was next year and if my predictions are right we are going to lose a D-Man or two to Retirment or other Free Agency. If JJ only signs a one year contract with whoever I would seriously consider going after him next Off-Season. Or depending on what happens during this coming season trade for him at the deadline.
